Hotel is positioned across a quiet gravel road from the beach with free use of sunbeds and parasols. Great position especially if your a beach lover. The hotel is built in the style of the Mani architecture with several small tower blocks of rooms. There is a swimming pool while not huge is fine for needs. Rooms have lots of space and are very clean and the bathroom is well equipped and spacious. Along the road are several hotels and tavernas but little else. Hotel is a good base for exploring the Mani or Mystra. Gythio is few minutes drive and a reasonable sized town but nothing special. Nearby is the Shipwreck beach which is a good beach with the added attraction of a shipwreck. Restaurant at the hotel is very good. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice, we also had lunch on one occasion and dinner twice while we were there and the food was very good. Staff were all friendly and helpful, special mention of Leoni at the restaurant/bar who is a star. Very friendly and helpful and who assisted us in getting a shovel and using mats to get our car out of the sand when it got stuck. I would happily stay here again when in the area.…

Such a friendly hotel. We were given our room early which was a great help to us. It’s location is great - just across from a gorgeous beach. Our room was good with a reasonable size balcony and large bathroom. There were good quality bathrobes and toiletries and housekeeping was of a high standard. We thought the architecture of the hotel was very tasteful; it is made of stone and fits in well with its surroundings. The pool was lovely - very refreshing and a decent size. The staff who work at the bar were friendly and obliging at all times. We ate at the hotels restaurant twice and thought the standard was good. Breakfast was very good too apart from the coffee - dispensed from a machine - pretty tasteless. Lots of choice and it varied between the three days we were there. The hotel cats looked cared for too - always a bonus for me - they didn’t beg so I’m assuming they were being fed. Only a few minor criticisms - it wasn’t easy obtaining beds by the sea and it appeared that they were being used by non residents. The pool was also used by non residents too on the Sunday which meant the area around it was busy even though the hotel itself wasn’t full. Other than that, it’s a great place to stay. I would not recommend this hotel. Not replied to my communications. They are other hotels in mavrovouni beach with a lot better amenities for your money Please choose another hotel of equal or the same service

Stayed in room 302 wonderful 180 degree view of the sea and the beautiful mountains from the large balcony. Breakfast excellent, fresh orange juice perfect, other Greek touches lovely. Stayed in a superior room that was more than adequate, comfortable bed and everything in order. Hotel was very quiet during our stay, we loved being here. We spent 2 days at Vathi beach which was extremely quiet and very nice. Pebbly beach that is very calm and nice for swimming. No charge for (nice) beds at Ostria tavern and food excellent.

This was my third time in the Thirides hotel in the last 5 years. This time I came together with 18 friends and we celebrated together a certain age. The reservation was made 10 months ago and since then I was communicating with the hotel again and again asking for changes and all kinds of requests. Maria, the reception lay was very very nice and helped us in any matter. The hotel was perfect in any detail. The rooms are spacious and convenient, The public spaces, beautiful and very welcoming. The pool and the bar by the pool well kept and nice to use, the barmen give a very good service and always happy to serve without being pushy The reception managers, Maria and Debbi always helpful and they made our vacation just perfect. Breakfast is tasty and very nicely served by the pool or in a room overlooking the pool. The beach is great and close by (20-40 steps from the gate) To sum up, all of us who are very experienced and have seen many places worldwide were extremely content and we had a wonderful vacation and recommend Thirides hotel from the bottom of our hearts…

Our second stay at this wonderful hotel and it was fantastic again. Obviously the circumstances were very different to last year, but the experience was just as good. The design and layout is lovely. Our room was great - very comfortable and immaculately clean. The staff were really friendly and helpful, going out of their way to make us feel very welcome. Special mention to Dessy at reception and George the catering manager. Hopefully with a bit of practice George and his colleagues will master the art of making a "flat white" coffee! Considering the Covid situation they made everyone feel safe and looked after. I must also mention the hotel restaurant "Tarquinia" - an interesting Mediterranean menu (rather than Greek), excellent food, if a little pricier than the restaurants in town. All in all this hotel with the beautiful beach in front, and its lovely pool, is a fantastic base from which to explore this wonderful part of the Peloponnese. Highly recommended.…

We stayed at the Thirides Beach in September, while we relaxed and explored the local area. The Hotel is really well designed, giving an almost village feel. Rooms are of a reasonable size, ours a superior double, had plenty of room for two, with a well appointed and large bathroom. The room had a balcony with partial sea view, although the balcony wasn't large it was enough for the two of us to enjoy sundowners each evening. Rooms come with a mini bar/fridge and tea/coffee making facilities. There's a supermarket up the road (walkable in 10-15 mins and fairly flat) with a lovely little cafe almost next door. We never ate in the hotel except for breakfast, I'm sure the food would have been lovely, but we preferred to try the local tavernas 3 on the beach and 3 in the village. The village is walkable via a fairly steep climb up a hill. With a car you can drive there or into Gythio. We'd recommend the taverna on the village square or the Garden Taverna nearby. The beach tavernas were fine as well, though two had more limited menus. We had a really relaxing experience, no rushing to put beach towels down here. Some mornings the beach was almost deserted, although I'm sure it is heaving in peak season. Staff at the hotel were lovely. You do need a car to get around, but there's plenty of parking outside the hotel. Be warned if you are looking for somewhere lively, this is not the place for you, if you want to relax, enjoy the sun and sea and traditional food, then you'll be fine. …

This place is a real gem! Located in a wonderful position 5 minutes outside the lovely town of Gytheio, right on a 2km long beautiful beach. The hotel seems reasonably new and is very tastefully built out of stone in the typical Mani style. Our room was just great, Simply but classily furnished and very comfortable. The balcony was wonderful with views to the beach and the mountains to the west. I must mention though the incredibly tasteless picture on the wall - I'd strongly suggest changing this for a more typically Greek scene! Just a thought, but a very minor gripe. Breakfast was excellent and well stocked and presented. The staff were without exception fantastic - super-friendly, attentive and helpful. And the beach is lovely, and was practically deserted in mid-September. The hotel has its own section with umbrellas and loungers and the excellent Spiros to bring you snacks and drinks from the hotel plus give very knowledgable advice on where to go, eat, etc. All in all this is a fabulous place to stay and I can't recommend it highly enough.…

We stayed eight nights at the Thirides Beach Resort. This is our fourth visit to this region in Greece. It’s a gem ! Very pleasant staff meet you on arrival. We had a lovely room, very nicely furnished and spotless. The pool area has the most comfortable sun beds too ! The beach is right beside hotel. Not the greatest of beaches . It’s not too Stoney though, just a bit dusty. The water was great to get in to every day . Breakfast is very good at the Thirides - a great selection of hot and cold dishes. They offer dining at night also with a really decent menu and the food was probably the best we had whilst in Gytheio. We ate there three nights . The bar menu during the day is very good too. We were also very impressed with their staff- very professional, especially Jenny who worked the restaurant/ bar area. So definitely worth a visit if you are in this area.…
