Detailed Reviews
If you are flying in and out of Quito airport, B&B Tumbaco is a wonderful island oasis much closer than going into the city. It's a home in a gated community with with lovely landscaping and 4 well appointed rooms, each with an outdoor sitting area. Access to excellent restaurants in Cumbaya are a $5 cab ride away. The inn hosts are delightful and helped us in several ways -- medical situation and packing materials for a hand-carved souvenir paddle.

Our family had fun relaxing stay. Delicious breakfast, served every morning, must have the hot chocolate (Ecuadorian chocolate) fresh local fruit. Clean pool and hot tub, our boys sent hours in the pool. Friendly husky dogs just need snow and sled to feel at home LOL (Canadian writing review)
Great attention from staff and owner. Pick up to and from airport arranged ahead of time.
Thanks for the great memories of a life time.

I highly recommend B&B Tumbaco if you are looking for a beautiful, peaceful place to get away for a weekend or longer. The country setting is very peaceful and the grounds are beautiful. The cottages are the perfect size and include everything you could need for your time away. The host family is very warm and friendly, and readily available to make your stay a delight. I spent a weekend here at a time in my life when I felt very burnt out and needed to rest. This place was the ideal location for me...I came home from my weekend there feeling totally at peace and refreshed. I look forward to my next visit there!

+1
Two of the most gracious host I've encountered, Thank you Gerrit & Patricia.. Vacationing in Ecuador with no clear plan was no problem, Gerrit took care of us with sites to see, towns to visit and things to do. The Otovalo Market was great fun, the town of Cotacachi, Mindow, Cotapaxi... Thank you Silvia for A+++ Breakfast every morning.. I will be talking about this trip for some time to come. Thanks you for your hospitality..

Your home is a blissful retreat from all of the crazy city outside your walls . Thank you for sharing it.The grounds are wonderful ,so many flowers and trees ,very peaceful . I loved waking up to birds singing and the days joyfulness to come . Your staff at breakfast very happy always with good food too. The bedding was a surprise with down pillows and comforter to keep me warm at night . All the bright colors on the main house and cottages fit so well within the landscape . Your photos don't do you justice ,please post more of all the great landscaping you have .I arrived after traveling for the past 14 days back and forth across your wonderful country ( I LOVE ECUADOR ) to recover from all the traveling ,your home saved me . THANK YOU
You are still close to the capital for anything one might want to do . The guides that took me for the day to see Quito were GREAT very willing to share information about the sites we were at and more. Thank you for the contact with them .

Family of 8 filled the three casitas, welcomed by charming host and his wife and daughter. Beautiful garden and pool area, casitas have their own front porches. Perfect for children and adults alike. Located about halfway between Quito city and the airport.

Gerrit and Patricia are perfect hosts and the B&B is an oasis of peace near Quito. Stayed 2 nights after our late night arrival in Ecuador and then 3 nights at the end of the trip.
Very comfortable and inviting...breakfast is to order and very good.
Gerrit made sure we had the info needed for our forays into Quito and Cotopaxi NP and arranged for trusted guides and or taxi drivers for those trips. Next trip to Ecuador this will be our default Quito destination.

We loved the charm and cleanliness of our cottage and appreciated Gerrit and Patricia's hospitality. Gerrit organized excellent day trips for us with Jamie and Angela, allowing us to experience a great deal during a very short stay. We had a fantastic holiday!

We arrived at Quito late at night after an eventful and stressful day in Otavalo, and B&B Tumbaco turned out to be a perfect refuge.
The entire bed and breakfast is so nicely decorated, with beautiful gardens and yards. The owner and his family had been such wonderful hosts to us, always taking care of our needs and help us plan activities during our 2 nights 1 day stay. We were also very lucky to get to meet Gerrit's daughter who is a very friendly and lovely girl. Being only an eight year old, she is impressively knowledgeable about plants and enthusiastically gave me a tour of the garden that is full of beautiful flowers and plants.
The location is perfect if you need to fly off the Quito Airport in a day or two. Quito's traffic is generally quite bad and hence living only 15 minutes ride to the airport avoid the stress. If you want to spend a few days exploring Quito downtown than the location may not be as ideal, as it is about 30 to 40 minutes taxi ride to downtown.

We had a wonderful stay at the B&B Tumbaco. The owner went out of his way to accommodate our family of 8, which is no easy feat. The cabins were a perfect set up for the family and grounds of the inn gorgeous! Would stay again in a heart beat...Thank you B & B Tumbaco!
