Just for a bit of background this comes from the perspective of a lads holiday - there were a few families staying in the hotel but quite why you'd come to Laganas I do not know... it wasn't even particularly cheap. Given that their were a few families in the hotel, the staff were often keen for us to keep the noise down at night which we always thought was fair enough and for the most part the staff were reasonable. Tolis the Night Receptionist was very good and was well liked by the guests as was the guy who worked at the pool bar. However, there was another receptionist who was very rude and patronising and while I understand that it's not the easiest job at times we were polite and expected to be treated with a bit more dignity. Also despite pointing out that the air con did not work in one of the rooms, she did little to help. The hotel manager was also difficult to deal with and upon checkout demanded we pay €100 for breaking one of the cheap chairs outside (by just sitting on it). We weren't on an All Inclusive Package but we were speaking to some people that were and supposedly the management had banned alcohol on one of the days which you'd understandably be a bit annoyed by. I understand there is a lot of young people staying in the hotel and that could bring trouble but most were respectful from what we saw and only here for a good time but we were still treated very suspiciously.
The location is definitely the best part of the hotel being about 15 mins from the strip and on the beach where there was lots of restaurants too. This is definitely the nicer part of Laganas and while it was the more expensive area you could find cheaper places to eat too like Yiannis with great service which we'd recommend. The pool area was another good thing too with plenty of sun beds and a good atmosphere. A bit of a grudge was that they did charge us for sitting on the sun beds and in general looked to make money off you wherever possible by charging extras but I imagine that's the case for most hotels in the area.
In terms of the rooms, they are nothing special but functional given that you wouldn't be spending very long in there ideally during the day. That said, the rooms were a bit short on a few basics: one electricity socket (so bring an extension cable) and there was only one tiny bin in the bathroom and given that the cleaners do not clean everyday after a while the rooms get really messy with bottles and rubbish everywhere. The wifi doesn't work and there is no service but to be honest it's not the end of the world going without your phone for a couple days we found.
Overall, for a lads holiday it will be fine and I think a lot of the hotels will be pretty similar in Laganas. The location is great and as long as you spend little time in your room and don't go looking for trouble then Astir Beach will be alright, but I really would not recommend coming here during the season if you are a family.

Very good stay, get what you pay for, nice & clean also there are no bugs and you can get your room cleaned every day. If you are to go all inclusive the food is up to the standards, same goes with the drinks. To top it off the best part about it was the guy behind the bar from mid day ish and night named vargos what an absolute top man he is

we booked this hotel through lastminute.com and were unsure what to expect but we were very happy with it. The hotel is right next to the sandy beach and has a lovely very well maintained pool and outside area. The outside bar is there too and does lack a bit in character but is clean and functional and the staff are extremely efficient. The restaurant is also a bit dated but very clean and tidy and food is nice and plenty of it. We did an all inclusive and had access to food and drink all the time. The rooms again are a bit dated but who cares when the cleaners come in everyday and clean and change the sheets, again extremely clean rooms. Air conditioning works well. All the rooms have a balcony - we chose the top floor to get some good views. A lovely family hotel in a lovely position.

I have never experienced such a cold welcome to a hotel before.
The woman on the desk (Constantina) did not even say hi or welcome just scowled and muttered under her breath in Greek while taking about half an hour to check 3 of us in as if it was an inconvenience to have to do her job.
She was extremely unprofessional and rude, and I suggest she finds another job if she doesn’t like working with people. Considering 90% of people staying there are British, she could do with learning some better English as she didn’t understand anything we were saying. We left confused with no information given on anything like where the restaurant is, meal times etc. I have also heard numerous other complaints about her behaviour from different guests.
Another great character is the guy who strutted around the pool with a bum bag and on numerous occasions told us to get out of the jacuzzi style smaller pool, saying it was for babies and we cannot go in there. This was not true as there was another shallow pool better suited for kids. He was also extremely rude and would do better to mind his own business before he encounters guests who are less patient than we were.
Most of the staff in general look like they are being forced to work there against their will and you’d sooner get blood out of a stone than a smile out of them, but there was one guy on the bar (can’t remember his name) who actually had some charisma and cracked a few jokes so shout out to him.
On the third day we woke up to being refused service at the bar because apparently there was a fight and a lot of noise the night before and people had complained. We weren’t even there at the time all of this had allegedly took place.
As a result of this, they put a ban on alcohol for a whole day to anyone at the hotel under the age of 25. I have never witnessed anything like this, and I’m pretty sure it’s illegal to withhold one of the main benefits of why we paid for an all-inclusive package.
I spoke to the manager, and he said he knew some of the room numbers of the people involved but refused to tell me so instead of punishing those involved in the fight, he banned everyone at the hotel from drinking. Outrageous.
Location (5/5)
Can’t complain about the location, close to the airport, plenty of sunbeds, nice pools, right on the beach, short walk into the strip or nearby bars and shops.
Food (1/5)
If you’re fussy, you’re going to have a bad time. A small selection of low-quality meats with your standard sides. It was different every day to be fair, with some days better than others.
Room (2/5)
Very basic amenities, not even a fridge or bin in the room, small shower over bath with the curtain too close so it sticks to you, and a toilet roll holder you have to twist around to reach. The air con was very nice though.
As a side note to old people and families, do not come to Laganas, it is a party resort and there will be a lot of noise. Choose another resort or even another island.

As soon as we arrived to check in, we were told our rooms were not ready yet and that for the first night only we had to stay in a different hotel, Astir Palace Hotel. This is obviously not how we wanted to start our holiday. To top it off, when we went to check in again the next day (as instructed) and our rooms were still not ready until 4pm so we were roomless for 5 hours as check out in Astir Palace is 11am. If you are booking all inclusive, it's very limited. You have to pay for cocktails and the drinks you do get are very watered down and served in plastic cups. We also experienced the cleaners entering our rooms whilst we were asleep and walking around our rooms collecting towels and cleaning which was very uncomfortable. Just to make our experience even better, there was an incident at the pool one night in which a few young individuals were involved. As a result of this, the hotel decided to stop serving drinks to under 25's even if you have booked all inclusive. We spoke to the manager of the hotel about this and there was no understanding or no mention of us getting any monetary compensation.

The condition of the hotel is impossible to categorize - I gave one star (a star it doesn't deserve) so that people don't think I forgot to give a rating: 1. DRINKING water - running at sink and shower! You can't brush your teeth! Does it come straight from the sea? 2. The furniture is excessively old! Probably 1945! See attached pictures! 3. The rooms are too small! I asked for the 3 bed room, and they put another 180cm bed in the 2 bed room! There is no room to get in the room! 4. No care for the furniture! Fallen doors, missing doors...!!!!! You have never seen anything like this in your life! 5. Radio with 3 channels! Probably channel 1-Europa Libera, 2-Zakynthos Radio, 3-Radio Hotel. You've never seen that in your life

At first glance, the woman in photo #3 really caught my attention. So I decided to spend ÂŁ700 just to gain the slightest chance in crossing paths with this amazing woman. Although unsure if the person in the photo was indeed a real woman, I committed. However, upon arrival, I lost all lust for mi julie, this really ruined my 7 night experience as I ended up drinking on my own every night SCREAMING for my sweetheart.

The room at Astir Beach Hotel was a major disappointment. The outdated furniture gave off a dingy vibe, and to top it off, the fridge wasn't even functional. It felt like stepping into a time warp of discomfort. Definitely not worth the stay.
I've been in Thassos, Santorini and Corfu so far in Greece and this is the worst hotel I ever been, it reminds me of India.

I do not recommend the hotel, the rooms were cleaned at least 3 times a week, the breakfasts are terrible. A lot of people in the hotel are dissatisfied with the service. The Astir Beach Hotel deserves maximum ** stars, and even with your eyes closed...

Yeah, a dirty fool. Hair everywhere, clipped nails, yellow towels. The receptionists who pretend not to understand you, when in reality they understand very well .. but they stay there staring at you disoriented. You take a shower with the existential doubt of the diseases you will face. I attach the beautiful photos of the room.
