Spent 10 days here, really enjoyed our stay. The Staff were very helpful. The pool and pool area was so peaceful and clean. Breakfast choice was really Continental. Omelette and bacon available. Our room was clean and large, shower area was very small, but the shower was clean and powerful. Thanks to all the staff.

We stayed at Hotel Castro for our honeymoon in June 2023. The 6 nights we stayed where unforgettable. The hotel itself is magnificent, exceptionally top standard in both cleanliness and hospitality from lovely family who own it. Kiri Chi is so lovely and nothing was too much trouble for her or her family Good choice of fresh food for breakfast each day. The weather in Santorini was fantastic and the views from our balcony were lovely. The beach is about 10 min walk from hotel and quite rocky, definitely need your swimming shoes. The choice of restaurants and shops along the beach are amazing. Thanks to everyone at Hotel Castro, we look forward to returning and seeing you all again Paven & Zak

We travelled to Santorini on the 11 September, the room was really nice but should have been a garden view on the balcony. Unfortunately we overlooked the road and the balcony was really small,! Our friends had a much bigger balcony. The hotel though a bit remote was spotlessly clean, good breakfast, lovely pool, alas no bar, which was a shame although we bought drinks from the supermarket and kept them in our room fridge, to drink around the pool. The walk to the town and beach was about 15/20 minutes. As there was nothing around the hotel we went back and forth every day. Our rooms were kept clean and towels changed every day. Couldn’t fault the staff and cleaners especially Maria 😘. A great hotel to stay in despite its position, not close to the town or any little tavernas.

This is a lovely, spotlessly clean hotel but it is away from the beach and restaurants. There are no bars etc near, there is a bakery a 10 minutes walk away a an a small scruffy burger bar about 15 minutes. All main restaurants are in beach area. The walk down to beach is a good 20 minutes along an unmade road that becomes fairly busy in season. I know the description says 10 minutes but that would be fast pace. The trek back up at night is arduous as the road is barely lit and is up hill. Taxis are few. The rooms here are good and spacious and the team keep them immaculately clean and fresh towels daily. We had a garden view room with a good size balcony. The gardens are lush, colourful and tropical also well maintained as is the lovely pool. Unfortunately there was no bar facility during our stay so the room fridge wars a real boon. I wish we had known this beforehand. So we walked to the bakery for lunchtime snack on pool days. Despite some other reviews regarding breakfast, we found it very good, hot and cold food available, plus juices, fruit and yoghurt, croissants, cake and toast. What more do you need? Probably best to eat before 9am though. We would recommend this hotel if you don’t mind being out of town and like walking! The beach is black sand, quite unattractive but bed chairs are free in front of some restaurants if you buy drinks etc. I only managed to enter the sea once as the terrain underfoot is very uneven and rocky, shoes are recommended! We had a great holiday and Thanks to Maria and the team fit their good service.

No warm welcome when you arrive & seem very brash but they turned out to be very nice family. Room was basic but absolutely fine & very clean. No bedside lamps tho & balcony ( ground floor was eye level with Nextdoor garden) wasn’t very secluded& small. Wet room bathroom. Beds made everyday & clean towels everyday. Pool was lovely, clean, gardens well looked after sun beds very nice. shower & loos ( newly built I think)which can be used if you have a late departure & they will give you towels- such a shame there is no bar/snacks & nearest shops are 10 mins away ( small fridge in room) no ice tray so take ice bags with you. Breakfast appalling!!!! Take instant coffee with you lol! Don’t bother getting up for it! Would stay there again but it was too far for us to walk backwards & forwards

I too am very surprised about the negative reviews. We stayed for two weeks and our stay could not have been better. Our flight was delayed and we arrived late, but we had emailed the owners and warned them we may be late and there was no problem. We found the owners and staff to be very courteous and very helpful. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and would be happy to stay again. Room was huge and lovely. Towels changed every day and bedding changed 2/3 times per week. Only slight negatives were that there was no bar, but this meant the pool was quiet which was a bonus, and the breakfast was a bit repetitive- although perfectly adequate. Kamari is a great resort and the Castro was a perfect base for our stay. Thank you!

I'm surprised at the negative reviews of the staff. We arrived at midnight after a cancelled flight from Gatwick and a delayed flight from Stansted. One of the staff met us at the airport and drove us to the hotel. It's not as if we were big-spending customers as we had only booked for one night (though extended it to two as we were so satisfied). The same woman drove us to the port to catch the ferry, leaving the hotel at 6.30am. She was reliable, efficient and friendly. The room was calming, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was small but adequate before going to Fira or Kamari. Another member of staff helped us check our ferry details and drew us a map to show where to get our tickets printed. They really couldn't have done more.

Stayed for 5 nights as part of 2 centre holiday. We arrived late about 2300 hrs. Reception locked and opened by owner who was a bit grumpy. We were staying in building next to pool so lots of steps from reception to the room, no lift. We noted next day that we could have used drive by side of pool which would of meant only 4 steps. Room clean but very basic, wardrobe had 6 hangers for 2 of us. Safe in wardrobe which was free but couldn’t get it unlocked. Asked for it to be looked at a few times but was never fixed. Bathroom was more of a wet room. Did have a shower curtain which did look clean. There was an overhead shower and a movable one which could be used separately and obviously together. We did not realise this and cleaner had left the movable one on floor which flooded the bathroom. This must have gone into corridor which we were not aware of until owner turned with 2 staff members. She was very aggressive in her manner. There was a pool bar but this was never opened which was a shame because 10 min walk to nearest supermarket. Breakfast was poor. We only went twice and then gave up. The cleaning lady was lovely but she was the only one who was pleasant. Location was fairly good 10 min walk to kamari and 2 mins to bus stop for bus to thira and open air cinema. Lovely pool area . Very relaxing place and I did enjoy it but staff definitely need to do a customer care course
