Very clean, nice pool and gardens. Breakfast appalling, saw them cling filming leftover egg, whether to re heat next day who knows? served 8 to 10am but if you get there at 9.30 not much left and will not prepare more. We could only stomach 3 days out of 11! Supposed snack/bar round pool rarely manned,if you advertise it, it should be open regularly. Very limited stock and quite put out that I asked for ice in my drink! Family hard to find for assistance, obvious once 'breakfast' served they are not interested. We had clean towels every day which was nice, but why not save money and do twice a week and up the quality of the breakfast? Nice room but need a shower screen as the shower so tiny kept being attacked by a cold wet shower curtain. The balconies were only separated by a thigh height wall, no privacy and the smell from smokers was awful in our room. Wouldn't be hard to put up dividers.

The service received at Castro was rather below average! When we arrived we had to wait outside for a while, after ringing the bell a few times we were welcomed inside in a very unfriendly manner. The breakfast was pathetic and a handful! If you arrived after 9am there would literally only be eggs and bread left. The beds are extremely uncomfortable and there is an annoying standby light in the room that cant be switched off. They have swimming lessons during the day which is so unprofessional! They do not communicate working hours and they are not helpful at all !! Only one staff member understands English which makes it rather difficult to get assistance when she has gone home. The morning we departed the hotel no one was at reception and our transfer was late and there was no one to assist us, some guests were also dropped by their transfer and had to stand outside as there was no one to welcome them. A waste of money!!

On the whole this place is fairly average. Looks great on the outside. Staff are friendly and the cleaners work very hard!! A little shocked to find out that they literally had swimming lessons every other day, Monday to Friday, usually 9am - 10am and then 6pm - 7pm. We only had to get out once as we were around, and felt obliged to. And all the other times we were away, however not what you expect!! You should not have to get out of a pool that you have paid for to watch a swimming lesson take place while you are on holiday! Very poor of them! And they do not even tell you! Breakfast very average, but that’s reflective of the price. Poor quality bread, not much breakfast selection, only fresh fruit was the water melon and melon. They had tinned mangos. Yoghurt pretty bitter. Very good location though to the beach in walking distance. They don’t do lunch or dinner. They do pool snacks though. Bedrooms decent enough, shower gets all of the floor wet. Not a bad place on the whole, and reflective of the price you pay. Nothing amazing though! Sometimes no one is at reception so just ring the bell often and someone eventually comes.

Our family group of five (17 - 60 year olds) stayed for 10 days at the Castro Hotel in June'19. We had two spacious, high ceilinged, two room suites with basic kitchen amenities and balconies front and back. The view over the beautifully kept gardens and pool area was great. The hotel is very clean and well looked after with our rooms perfectly made up each day. The pool and surrounding area was ideal and we always found sunbeds at all times of the day. The walk from the hotel into Kamari, and the many good quality restaurants and bars, is about 10 minutes and past a beautiful church. The bus service into Thira (Fira), the capital (note all buses go into Thira), takes about 15 mins and sometimes full during the high season, depending on where you board. Tip: If going to Thira check with the rep or online to see how many cruise ships are due in that day, as that will impact how busy the capital and surroundings areas will be. Our experience was up to three ships was fine but things were very busy when 4-6 ships were moored up. Areas of improvement for the hotel: - Family who run the hotel are quite inconsistent; some are very friendly and helpful and others are in dire need of some customer service awareness. - Breakfast very basic and some more fruit and local produce would improve things. - Pool bar infrequently manned. Be visible and maybe go around the pool area and ask your residents if they would like anything. - update the in room showers to be more than hand held please. In summary, all of our party would recommended this hotel and, if your expectations are not too high on the service and amenity front, you are likely to have a pleasant stay.

Me and my sister stayed at the Castro Hotel for 3 nights and had the best start to our holiday. The hotel was always kept clean and tidy, rooms included. No problems in finding sun beds throughout the day. Breakfast was on the simple side but the Greek yoghurt with honey and fruit was the best start to our day! (Toast amongst other things are also available) Staff are incredibly friendly and will always say hello and will help cater to your requirements. Very short walk onto the beach front where an array of bars and restaurants are available. Some restaurants also offer a free sun lounger when a meal is ordered! A bus stop is located a short distance away in the hotel, near the indoor cinema! Buses to different parts of Santorini only cost 1.80€ (although they can be late and/or early so patience is key!) All in all, a lovely hotel with lovely staff and we enjoyed our stay!
