Detailed Reviews
We are about to fly home this evening and will be sad to leave the boathouse!! The location was perfect for us, travelling with a 4 year old, as everything we wanted was literally right on our doorstep.
The hotel is on the beach, with a strip of restaurants and shops running along. There’s a street of cute shops a few blocks along the beach plus pharmacy, book store and outdoor cinema!
We were booked in by the hotel at Almira restaurant to eat on our first night, as we arrived late, and went ended up going back to eat there every day since! We also loved Giamas next door to it, but the friendly waiters and consistently excellent service at Almira swung it for us. We’ll be back there in an hour for our final meal of the trip :)
The hotel has a lovely feel to it. It’s very clean, non pretentious and the owners Diane and Spiros have nailed the art of leaving customers to themselves but welcoming with open arms at the drop of a hat.
Breakfast was a covid safe buffet served to the table; we had bacon and eggs, toast, gorgeous Greek yoghurt and honey, plus dippy eggs for my son.
It took approx 10-15mins to travel from the airport, and check in was done in advance so very painless and again, covid safe.
The ocean is quite hard to access with a little kid, and was a bit choppy. Apparently you can go to another one called Monolithia (probs spelt wrong :/) which is 10mins away, and is shallow water and sandy.
We didn’t bother as we were more than happy with being by the pool!
I don’t think there are any negatives to staying here actually but, if you were particular, you might not like how loud the planes are when coming in to land. Very infrequent though, and quite a sight for a little kid to see!!

We have been coming to this great hotel for many years now and we can honestly say that you will have a great time staying here. The rooms are very good and the beds are very comfortabel. The family Zorzos Diane,Spyros and daughter Evi take so good care of you and you can ask them everything for your personal well being and any information about the island. In these difficult covid times you feel really safe here. Breakfast is served at the tablet, the rooms are cleaned and steamed by two lovely and friendly girls Barbara and Anna. The seaview is spectacular and for sure you will feel the stress leaving your body and mind. Come to the Boathouse hotel, you will never ever regret it.

Thank you so much for having us. The hotel is beautiful, clean and well maintained.
We felt very Covid secure and this helped us feel relaxed. The rooms have external access and so there are not large communal areas. We were served breakfast outside. We had the option of refusing full room cleans and just had the bins changed and fresh towels. There was hand sanitiser everywhere and staff wore masks or visors.
We stayed in the large quadruple room (room 1) and were very comfortable. The aircon worked really well. The shower was lovely although once or twice first thing in the morning we missed the quota for the hot water. The only other small issue was the proximity of the doors for rooms 2 - 4, and the fact that the doors slam very loudly. When people were coming in and out a lot in the night (coming and going to the aiport) this would always wake us up.
There were plenty of sunbeds each day and beach towels were provided. The pool area was calm and quiet.
The location is great being right on the beach and with so many restaurants and bars around.
Staff could not do enough for us and helped with taxis, transfers and tours.
We did not want to leave and would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Me and my husband stayed at the boathouse in May, for 1 week. We were celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary and it was also my birthday whilst we were there. Diane, Spiros, Tina, Joseph and Will all made us feel like family, this really is the most friendly place we've ever stayed.
The rooms have a lovely traditional Greek feel, they definitely exceeded my expectations for a 3 star hotel, the hand wash, hand gel and spa shower gel was a lovely touch, also thick pool towels, which often aren't available at 3 star hotels.
The breakfast is first class, better than I've had at 5 star hotels, they are all so accommodating and you can literally choose anything you'd like, have 2nd and 3rd portions if you wish. The mixed fruit salads, Greek yoghurt and pancakes are to die for! Spiros even shared the recipe with my husband so that he could recreate them at home!
The sunbeds were comfortable and we never had an issue getting 2 together, even though it was half term.
Kamari is the perfect base, an amazing selection of bars and restaurants and a direct bus to Fira is also available.
This was the best holiday we've had for years, we're currently in Crete with our children, but wish we knew about the Boathouse when we booked this last year as where we are just doesn't compare!
We'll definitely be returning with the rest of the family one day.
Thank you Spiros, Diane and all the Boathouse staff for making our holiday so memorable.

We stayed in the Garden suite which has two separate bedrooms and two bathrooms. It was perfect for us as we were travelling with our two grown children for a family wedding. The rooms are traditional but the bathrooms are modern, with walk in showers. Aircon is provided and a kettle with cups but you need to provide your own coffee/milk etc. This wasn't an issue for us and there is a mini fridge to keep milk and water cool.
The breakfast is outstanding - made to order and you can have practically anything you want and it is served by the pool.
The hotel is right on the beachfront which is a great location, just a minutes walk to some of the best restaurants in Kamari (Try the Sunday Lamb at Almira - you will thank me later) but there is a wall separating the pool area from the road so we never felt exposed or uncomfortable with people walking by and any noise is drowned out by the sound of the waves.
The staff are so friendly and Diane went out of her way to help me find a hairdresser and florist and many other things I had mithered her about, nothing was too much trouble. Although my favourite staff member was Zeus - the resident kitty. He came to say hello every morning before he started his busy day of resting in the shade.
Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and if we return to Santorini we will return to The Boathouse.

I have been visiting the Boathouse every year since 2007, often staying there twice a year. Unfortunately Covid meant I couldn't return last year, so this year felt really special and it certainly lived up to and exceeded my expectations! It was great to see the lovely Zorzos family again - they are so friendly and can't do enough to ensure you have an amazing holiday. The hotel felt really Covid-safe without it interfering with your holiday. The hotel is so clean and the pool area is really relaxing. I stayed in a ground floor seaview room and it is lovely sitting on the balcony hearing the waves from the beach which is just over the road. Breakfast was served to your table, instead of the usual buffet. It was amazing and there was so much choice - however for the sake of the wonderful staff I hope they can return to the buffet soon! The bar at the hotel is great with plenty of choice. They sell amazing beers from the local Donkey brewery and the best cocktails ever!
I have travelled there alone for the last two years and this hotel is a great choice for couples, families or solo travellers.

We’ve just returned home from two weeks at The Boathouse, Kamari. We (my husband, our toddler and I) were there for a family wedding and had the most wonderful time!
We booked directly with the hotel which was extremely easy and I’d definitely recommend it. We paid a 30% deposit and paid the remaining amount when we arrived at the hotel. The hotel provided a complimentary airport transfer for us when we arrived which was amazing. It’s a 10 minute drive from Santorini’s airport to The Boathouse hotel. They were helpful and booked us a taxi back for our departure which cost us €25.
Location
The location is fantastic. Situated directly on Kamari’s main promenade it enjoys sea views and the bars and restaurants are a step away (literally). If you go to the Boat House restaurant and tell them you’re staying at the hotel, you get free sun beds on the beach but sun beds on the beach are generally free from any bar so long as you buy a drink from them.
Rooms
Rooms are lovely and spacious, we stayed in room 1 which was upstairs and had 2 single beds and a travel cot was provided for our toddler. Plenty of space and the balcony was a good size too with part of a sea view. Bathroom was modern, clean and spacious. Rooms were cleaned everyday (as per our request) and the maids did a wonderful job. Plenty of storage space and a hairdryer and safe included free of charge. Aircon worked wonderfully.
Food
The home cooked self service breakfast provided by the Boat House is delicious. Something for everyone and also some different items provided throughout the week. Tea, coffee and fruit juices are also provided.
The hotel has a wonderful family feel and it’s great getting to know everyone. A very relaxing and friendly hotel and we loved our stay.
We did personally feel the pool was a tad cold and it was quite cold for our little one so we spent most days on the beach. The sun beds weren’t the comfiest and also to note, there’s no tv in the room (if you’re bothered about that which we weren’t)!
We were unsure whether Santorini would be a suitable holiday with a young child but Kamari is certainly the best place with young children! Beach isn’t sand, it’s black stones but my little one didn’t mind.
We’d certainly love to return one day, thank you!

I have been returning to the beautiful Boathouse Hotel in Kamari since 2007 and I love how relaxing it is and how friendly and caring the staff are. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the bar / breakfast area is really pretty next to the inviting pool. The breakfast is amazing and is currently still served to you at your table since Covid. The omelettes and pancakes are delicious and the Greek yogurt, honey and nuts is really special. All the rooms are comfortable and inviting and the sea view rooms at the front of the hotel have lovely terraces or balconies. The bar serves a great selection of drinks and is a lovely relaxing area to escape the afternoon sun or spend a chilled evening. The local Donkey beers, local wines and tasty cocktails are amazing and it is lovely to chat to Tina, Will or Iosif as they serve you your drinks.
The hotel is at the quieter end of Kamari beach and you can start relaxing as soon as you arrive. I can't wait to return next year!

Set sail for The Boathouse Hotel. It was a pleasure to be a guest. COVID hasn’t stopped the top notch service here. Everything is clean and everyone is cautious yet delightful. The view was amazing. We took full advantage of our get away and landed here. Breakfast was delicious and they even catered to my wife’s gluten free (celiac) needs. They offered transportation and gave great recommendations for activities. There is nothing that could have been done better.

Hi Charlotte! So so sorry for our late response! Glad that you emailed us instead as we are not on all the sites all the time.
We have very good (Greek made” 27cm thick Venus Strom mattresses - some guests find them a bit hard, others find them to soft… so it definitely is a preference but Venus Strom calls them “medium soft”. They are made in Athens.
The Boathouse Hotel does not have sunloungers and umbrellas directly in front of it on the beach as we pride ourselves as being the only clear unobstructed view to the sea and beach of Kamari (all other hotels and restaurants clutter the beach with pergolas etc actually narrowing the road and hiding the beautiful beachfront) and we do this so our guests actually have a Sea view from our rooms and our pool and bar area.
The Boathouse Hotel guests can use sunloungers and umbrellas for free at both nearby Almira Restaurant and Boathouse Taverna (both 25 meters away from us).
Almira restaurant out of the hotel turn left walk 100 yards it is great. Visit the outdoor cinema in Kamari about 20 min walk from hotel
Hello JerekB337, If you have booked your room directly through the hotel website then you can email for a complimentary airport arrival transfer. If you have booked through a 3rd party website then you can also email the hotel for a transfer but not complimentary.
There is a local bus from the airport to Fira town and then you can change buses back to Kamari (cost 1.80 Euros each leg of the trip). There is also a Local bus a few times a day that does goes to Kamari first from the airport but they don't seem to have a set schedule yet for this service.
