Just returned from a fantastic two week stay at the Matina. This is a highly recommended, Covid safe, quality hotel with great facilities. Tastefully decorated throughout and kept exceptionally clean. Even our cases were disinfected before entering the reception! They provided a great value and efficient transfer service to and from the airport. Breakfasts are served a la carte at the patio and pool side tables, always with friendly chats and smiles. Awesome pool, sunbeds and brollies, excellent well stocked pool bar looked after by the wonderful Athina, extremely friendly and great at teaching us more Greek! In an ideal location 5 mins from beach but away from the hustle and bustle of the resort making it a private hideaway. Jean-Pierre and Vasso were exceptional hosts, looking after our every need. We are keen hikers and benefitted from their advice and knowledge of stunning walks on Santorini. A huge Efharisto to all the team who were happy, friendly and helpful at all times during our stay! Looking forward to our next visit.

I visited Santorini for the first time I stayed in the southeast part of Santorini at the beautiful Matina Hotel. The hotel is in a great location as it combines mountain and sea is also ideal for those who want to relax and enjoy the quiet side of Santorini. As for the hotel it was very clean, the reception is open 24 hours and the people who work there were all very helpful and helped us with anything a visitor would need for the first time visiting Santorini Thanks to them we did not feel that we were strangers!! A breakfast with a wide variety of fresh fruit ,exotic salads ,various kinds of juices special breakfast for vegetarians ,different kinds of milk and different kinds of bread!! The girls at breakfast were all very pleasant and always with a smile on their face. They all wore masks and kept their distance for the Covid 19!!
When you visit a foreign place and you feel so familiar you are very lucky .Thank you very much Matina hotel!!!

Positive: Just returned yesterday from our 10 day holiday yesterday 25th Aug -3rd Sept.
We were very wary about travelling due to Covid but this hotel dealt with everything great. From picking us up at the airport they took our luggage and sanitised it before we could take into the hotel reception. All our details were recorded for track and trace and masks had to be worn in the reception area.
We were a family of 6 and went for 3 adjoining twin rooms.
The rooms were great and regularly cleaned..
The staff went above and beyond to help customers especially JP and Matina.
We used to hotel mini bus fir our airport transfers and also for a trip up to Oia via a local seafront restaurant.

Negative: The breakfast was a bit strange but due to Covid it could not be the normal self service and quite a few times our order arrived wrong but was only a minor issue and quickly corrected.
The pool bar pricing was quite expensive at 4.5 euro per beer and 7 euro for a G&T. I am also very surprised that glasses and bottles were aloud around the poolside.

We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone

We have travelled extensively all over Greece during the last 25 years, but we had always saved Santorini to be our first holiday without the kids. Originally we had intended to stay in Fira, but the thought of having to travel to the beach everyday changed our minds to choose Kamari, I am so glad we did. We searched for a hotel and Lisa found the Matina, we originally were coming for a week, but managed to get a much better deal on the flights if we came for 11 days, we then didn’t want to leave our 15 year old with her elder brother, so our first holiday alone was put on hold and along she came!
The hotel kindly arranged to pick us up at the airport and kept us informed via email. Jean-Pierre (Yiannis) greeted us at the airport and immediately started passing on his wealth of knowledge throughout the journey. At the hotel we booked in and then had a longer chat in the bar, where to go what to say etc., in passing I explained it was Lisa’s 50th birthday later in the week. As the days passed the more we loved the hotel, the staff our extremely attentive, friendly and professional (remember there is a virus out there) so certain restrictions had to be adhered to, but at all times we felt comfortable as the staff constantly cleaned, keeping the hotel absolutely immaculate.
The evening before Lisa’s birthday JP informed our daughter that the staff had prepared a cake for her, so in the morning when we went down for coffee it didn’t come as such a big surprise when all the staff came out singing Happy Birthday with a cake, the only one surprised was Lisa!! It was literally the icing on the cake for holiday (sorry about the pun!)
This is a special hotel, fantastic location, close to the beach, near some excellent local restaurants, the staff are amazing they are the heartbeat of the place. Jean-Pierre and Vasso and everyone else THANK YOU for making our stay and Lisa’s birthday special.

We’ve just returned from 1 week’s holiday at Hotel Matina and once again it was perfect in every way (we’ve now stayed here 5 times). It’s a family hotel with a beautiful ambience and a perfect location in Kamari close to the beach and countless bars and restaurants. The family and staff always go out of their way to ensure all your wishes are attended to and have lots of knowledge to share about the beautiful island of Santorini.
Cleanliness at the hotel is second to none and this time, the extensive breakfast menu was served at our table instead of the usual buffet style, always with a lovely smile. The only thing we were sad about was having to leave after only one week! We can’t wait to visit our friends again very soon.
Thank you for a lovely holiday.

It was a pleasure to have you staying with us again, and , especially this summer! We are glad that you felt safe with us and have chosen our hotel for your holiday in Santorini this July 2020. Particularly, we have applied all health & protection measures, like the "Health First " certification by the Greek Tourism Authorities and the World's Travel and tourism Council "WTTC - SAFE TRAVELS - Global_Protocols" so that our guests and all the people working in Hotel Matina stay safe and healthy. So, one can enjoy the serenity of the island in safety! This year the island is busy but not packed like the last few years. It is actually, an opportunity not to be missed : Santorini in more local rhythms and style. Keep safe and have a wonderful summer! Until the next time !! Lots of greetings from all of us in Hotel Matina

Hotel Matina is on a lovely quiet end of Santorini near the black sand beach of Kamari. The staff is very attentive, courteous, and helpful. Everything was spotless and COVID protocols were exceeded in keeping the hotel exceptionally clean. It is close to the beach, many restaurants, markets. We spent one day exploring the ancient village of Thira which you can see from the property and is very close to the hotel. We rented a car just across the street from the hotel to explore the entire island. The pool was lovely. The breakfast was fresh and offered a big variety. Staff wore masks at all times indoors. Staff served the breakfast. Remote controls were sanitized and wrapped. Shuttle service to the airport and ferry port was very dependable. Very quiet and relaxing property.

This place is amazing! As soon as we stepped foot inside this hotel we noted the friendliness of the staff, always greeting you and catering to your needs. Around the hotel and the rooms are immaculate! The cleaning staff cleans your room every day and you always see them walking around cleaning everything. The location is also fantastic, it is away from the touristy locations in a nice town that isn't so pricey but more with the locals. Can't rave about this place enough!

I have just come to the Matina Hotel as I was in the amazing Areti Hotel for 5 days and as I extended my trip by one day, there was no room to stay at the Areti, so I handpicked the Matina Hotel from Booking.com as it had fabulous reviews and it was near to my dear Areti Hotel. I came to see the Matina Hotel the day before I was due to come just to check it out and it did not disappoint me in any way whatsoever. I arrived at Matina Hotel at around 5 pm and it was love at first sight. After we checked in, we met Jean-Pierre and Elias who helped us with our room. The captain of the ship is called Vasso - the owner and such a nice and helpful lady. She is the one who gave us the most fabulous room with everything you can possibly imagine you need for an amazing stay - a kitchen, stove, kettle, crockery and cutlery if you need it a lovely balcony all for a very reasonable price. Yena, Anna and Katie prepare the most amazing delicious breakfast you can possibly imagine, there is nothing missing at breakfast and more. Alketa and Diana are at the bar by the pool which is open till 1.30 am in the morning so whenever you fancy a drink or cocktail of your choice that's the place to go. Sakis, who is the night receptionist is so unbelievably helpful and nice which is a credit to Vasso who has put together this amazing team of people. So all in all Matina is a must if you want a hotel in the heart of Kamari, where there are shops supermarkets, buggy hire, motorcycle hire, car hire and shopping for all. Thank you so much for an amazing and most unforgettable stay in Kamari, Santarino, one of the seven wonders of the world.

Very nice hotel, clean rooms, good location and great value. I can only give four stars because the COVID precautions were REALLY over the top! You have to leave your room keys when you go out so they can be disinfected, and the buffet breakfast was INCREDIBLY awkward and uncomfortable, having to ask a member of staff to pass you each individual item from under a cover. A bit of Oliver Twist, "Please Sir, can I have some more?"
Ok if it was 2019, but this was in May 2022!
Staff were lovely, and very dog-friendly

Just returned from a great stay at Hotel Matina with 5 friends. We were checked in promptly when we arrived and given lots of useful information about the area. Everyone is really friendly and helpful, as it's a small hotel you get a really personal experience. The hotel was spotlessly clean, we enjoyed using the pool most days which we almost always had to ourselves. The hotel provided pool towels which was really helpful. The complimentary breakfast was organised and very tasty and the bar was reasonably priced and open until late. The hotel is situated in a slightly quieter part of Kamari, the beach is 5 mins away and there are plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. We had a brilliant stay here in beautiful Santorini, if you are looking for a great hotel in Kamari I definitely recommend Hotel Matina.
