On arrival we headed to the Lake reception, only to find it was no more. An empty shell of an office. Made our way back to main reception and left our luggage as room was not ready. We were very early so this was expected. We headed back late afternoon and were given our key, bearing in mind I had booked Lake specifically and twin room. Got a room on Vistas, it was a very nice apartment with pool view but had a double bed. This was the only downfall so popped back to reception and asked for a change. I explained it was purely the bed situation but the Lake complex was preferable. The receptionist explained that Lake is now mainly timeshare/owners however they had one available on there or Moon. Not knowing what the beds were like on Moon we chose the Lake apartment. It was dated and we found one of the beds had broken. I couldn't be bothered to complain at the time but next time I will as my back killed after our stay. On the first day I got up to open up the doors and let the air in. Oh, couldn't open the door. I had double locked it over night and literally could not turn the key. I called reception who said they would send the maintenance guy. Sitting and waiting seemed like forever but it was a matter of minutes. He not only opened the door but lubricated it and chisled out the frame to give more space for the latch. It worked fine from then on. We will be staying again in December, I have specified Lake and must have a twin room so hopefully this will be given when we arrive. I really like the location of these places and now with the new bar at the complex just down the road, it's ideal. It is also very peaceful. Cons this time was the room allocation to start with, the broken bed and it was only cleaned once in 9 days. This is not the norm as the service before has been superb.

This resort really does earn it’s two star rating. Many of the “ bungalows” were empty so we hoped we might get a swap. However it was refused by a member of the reception staff. Our view for the week was an externally mounted hot water tank and a bare wall some 5 ft in front of our sitting area. We had no sun on this at any time of day. As a result we couldn’t use this for anything other than meal times. Virtually all of the facilities were closed due to COVID. No gym bars etc although strangely elsewhere bars seemed happy to entertain customers. The accommodation is tired and desperately in need of a refurb although the maids do their best. Significant numbers of Brits go here so why the satellite channels on have one English one is beyond me.

Never seen so many cockroaches in my life. It is disgusting in my opinion. We have killed 40 in one evening. I personally believe it is generally old and extremely dirty, an extremely uncomfortable and unpleasant experience. See photos for an idea of how many to expect if you stay here. Update: the next morning we confronted them about this, they offered us a new room however we knew it would be just as infested, so we are moving. They said they would send a cleaner however on arrival nothing has been cleaned. More than ever cockroaches seen tonight- we've found them even roaming inside our bags and our belongings. I am disgusted beyond words, never in my life have I seen so many in one place with the numerous times I've visited the Canary Islands. AVOID.
