    Great Weekend Stay at Sofitel
Just spend 3 wonderful nights here. We stayed in end room 1803, which faces Kurrawa Beach and the rear & side windows look over the river. Very spacious room, with comfortable king bed, large bathroom, very clean and looks like it has recently been refurbished. Booked via Accor App, check in was very friendly and quick and housekeeping staff were excellent. Buffet Breakfast is excellent and hotel is very centrally located to Kurrawa Beach, Oasis Shopping Centre, the Light Rail, Buses & Pacific Fair. About 35 min Uber ride ( $50.00) from Gold Coast Airport. Enjoyed our stay here, will return and highly recommend.

    Didn't live up to expectations
I need to preface my review by saying I understand that the pandemic restrictions have affected the smooth operations of many, if not most businesses. We were booked to stay at another hotel on the Gold Coast, but the Government commandeered that hotel for people in quarantine. We were given just 2 days notice and managed to get a booking at the Sofitel. Obviously, there was no valet parking, but you could self park for a small fee per night. The rooms have been stripped back to bare necessities, with all items taken out of the bar fridge. The room was a good size, and there was a small balcony. The sliding door and the windows needed a good clean. The bed was extremely comfortable and the towels were very large and fluffy. The noise from the street below and from the Gold Coast Highway was quite loud, and I was surprised that the windows and sliding door weren't double glazed. You could have breakfast in the restaurant and the staff were meticulous about cleaning and disinfecting. You had to book a time slot because they were practising social distancing. Many people were complaining about the length of time for their food to come out - between 40-50 minutes. You ordered off the menu (no buffet, of course) and our food was quite good. On the second morning, we decided to have breakfast delivered to our room and it arrived just 10 minutes after our selected time. The food again was quite good, and the coffees were nice and hot.
Dear Terry R, Thank you for taking time to share a detailed experience of your recent stay with us at the Sofitel Gold Coast, Broadbeach. It is always great to receive a positive rating with constructive feedback – I will ensure to share your comments with the entire team to see where we can make improvements in our offerings. I am delighted to read that our staff were meticulous about cleaning and that the food during breakfast was satisfactory. I am disappointed we did fall short for your guest room, and the extend length in time for a reservation in the restaurant. Please rest assure I have spoken with the executive housekeeping and the food & beverage manager in regards to your feedback and ask them to put in place protocols to ensure an occurrence of this nature does not happen in the future. Terry R, we do hope we have the opportunity to welcome you back to the Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach. Kind regards, Harrison Mott Front Office Manager

Exceptional service, good quality hotel, great location!
From the driveway, to reception, to the housekeeping and in-room dining teams, we simply couldn't fault the service provided by the team at Sofitel Gold Coast. The room was large and modern and whilst the bathroom could use a renovation to bring it up to modern day standards, you spend only a small amount of time in there per day. The balcony was a great place to pull up a chair and watch the world go by and the hotel's location is central to everything - sits on top of a shopping centre with a large Woolworths Supermarket and plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby, across the road from The Star and just around the corner from Pacific Fair (massive shopping centre). Sofitel Gold Coast is also close to Surfers Paradise, but far enough away for you to be able to relax without thousands of tourists and younger people wanting to party every single night. A short 300m stroll to the beach, made this the perfect location for our stay. Overall, a very nice stay, would highly recommend this hotel to family and friends.

Old and tired with poor service. I stayed while visiting the area for work. The hotel is badly in need of an update from the elevators which are stuck in the 80s, to the business and gym facilities which are old, busy and small. The room is of a good size, but with dated furniture and is fading. The bathroom has seen better days with dirty grout and and peeling silicone. The service is poor, I shouldn’t have to ask for my room to be cleaned in the late afternoon and amenities aren’t replenished. I have colleagues staying at other hotels nearby that are cheaper and vastly better.

Great location..close to lots of eateries and public transport (bus and tram). Checking in was a professional and pleasant process. Room was clean and well serviced during our entire stay..thank you ‘Mala’. (?). Yes, room could do with an update in certain areas but everything worked well, nothing was faulty or needed fixing. Breakfast was really good in terms of variety, quality and the service was second to none. .kudos to a great morning team!

Quite surprised so see a Sofitel become so outdated. Everything works but the bathrooms need renovating and the beds and TVs desperately need replacing. This is listed as 5 star but the breakfast was crowded and pretty chaotic and the rooms are not serviced till around 2-3 pm which is ridiculous. Even after servicing there were bits of paper left on the floor. Definitely needs an overhaul

This is more like a 4 star hotel. The rooms are very tired and bathrooms quite old. The noise at night is very loud with boy racers prevalent in the area. The best part of our stay was the breakfast buffet each morning. It also is in good location being close to beach and nice restaurants and trams.

I stayed at this hotel for a business trip to attend a conference at the Gold Coast Convention Centre. The location was excellent. The hotel is just across the road from the convention centre, making a very easy walk in the morning. Lots of bars and restaurants surrounding the hotel, and also a Woolworths supermarket just around the corner. Just one block from the beach. Rooms were very large and well appointed, and everything in the room worked as it was supposed to. I had the room service which arrived, hot, tasty and very quick by normal hotel standards. I also had the breakfast buffet on the day I checked out which although little on the pricey side was very good with lots of options. Bed was super comfortable. Check in and check out was efficient and straight forward Service in the hotel was also very good. Cons. the hotel is starting to look just slightly dated but is still well appointed, clean and well-maintained. Weirdly you had to pay for Wi-Fi. Which makes this hotel along with long haul international flights about the only places on the planet where you still have to pay for Wi-Fi. However, if you are a member of their rewards program you get Wi-Fi and some drink vouchers for free. You can sign up for the program free of charge on checkin so it’s not really an issue. Great hotel, fantastic location would definitely stay here again.

This hotel puts you in the middle of the Broadbeach food and bar scene, so the location was perfect for us. Just a short pleasant walk to the beach; grab a coffee on the way as you go for your morning beach walk. The rooms were a good size with super comfy beds, a large bathroom and a small furnished balcony looking to the ocean. My only negative was the room service club sandwich was disappointing. The Club is my go-to on a hotel room service menu, but this was unlike what I thought is usually pretty consistently a good choice, with a strange untoasted seeded bun. While this hotel suggests it is 5-star, I think the age and blandness of the lobby/shared areas hold it back from being considered a special hotel. However, we had a lovely weekend here due to the location, lovely room and comfy beds.

Second, to compound that disastrous first night the air-conditioning in the room [which we were told was among the best in the hotel by the reception!] was blowing COLD AIR the whole night! This was in the middle of winter. I was really surprised that neither of us did not end up frozen solid from this ABSOLUTE FAILURE to ensure that the room is habitable! We could only get the engineer in the NEXT DAY again to rectify the problem, one which should NOT have surfaced in the first case if management had maintained REGULAR CHECKS on the habitability of each room! Hey, we are talking about a 5 star hotel here! You can bet your bottom dollar that after this review someone in management will reply with mollifying comments that they will do better the next time you turn up!
