My partner and I stayed at Chalet Grand Loup in late February 2020. From the moment we arrived, we felt that Karen and Steve really cared about our experience and just couldn't do enough to help us get the most out of our stay. The information we received before our arrival was excellent and Karen kindly arranged for us to eat in different restaurants every night of the trip, as well as picking up ski passes for us. Everything was taken care of and we felt more like members of the family than hotel guests. The chalet itself is just spectacular with the best outdoor hut tub I have ever experienced and a fantastic view over the valley from our room (and the hot tub!) It was peaceful but friendly and the rooms were incredibly comfortable. We skied with Steve for two days which was outrageous fun - he knows the mountain better than anyone and our off piste technique improved massively as a result. Again, he did his utmost to make us feel comfortable and safe whilst providing us with two days of adventure. We can't wait to come back! Thanks for everything, Karen and Steve, you're the best!…
Where to start from the information provided pre-arrival we were well looked after. Directions were accurate. Chalet is located 5 min walk from the main drag of restaurants. The views from the chalet are superb. The bus stop is outside the front door or a 5 min walk to the chair lift. Breakfast was a highlight, smoothies, smoked salmon and eggs, porridge, warm fresh croissants, fruit / yoghurt pots. The sauna and jacuzzi were lovely at the end of the day. Room was clean, large and very comfortable. Steve and Karen will make dinner reservations for you and assist with questions on skiing and activities. Perfect hosts cannot wait to return.
We spent an excellent week staying at Chalet Grand Loup over February half term with our kids (aged 14 and 10). Chalet owners/hosts Karen and Steve really go out of their way to make you feel welcome in their lovely chalet. We were sharing with another family who we did not know until we arrived but they proved to be good company too. The chalet itself is beautifully designed throughout in a contemporary style with comfy beds and plenty of space to relax with amazing views across the valley - we were lucky enough to see a glorious sunset on a couple of evenings but if you have one of the front facing bedrooms you wake up to that amazing view every day. Our hosts were very welcoming and excellent cooks, highlights being steak one evening and a Swiss raclette feast another. The food was of a very high standard with some excellent fish on offer for those with a pescatarian diet. It's not mentioned on the website but the chalet comes with the usual alpine fare of a delicious freshly baked cake for when you return from the slopes. Breakfast included a selection of pastries, cereals, yoghurt, fruit etc and eggs to your taste or pancakes. Steve and Karen will share tales with you over dinner of their former lives and how they came to Nendaz and this lovely chalet. The chalet is conveniently located in Nendaz next to one of the Navette shuttle bus stops or the main lift can be accessed by taking a 10 minute walk across flat land and a lift within the centre of town. If you have driven over, you may prefer to drive to Siviez (10 min drive) and park there for quicker access to some of the higher altitude skiing within the 4 valleys. The experience starts a few weeks before arrival when Karen and Steve get in touch to discuss their planned menu for the week to ensure it meets your tastes and dietary needs, and in the case of travelling with children, to be sure the kids will eat it! They also offered to book mountain restaurants for us in advance; I was a little sceptical of the need for this so far in advance but sure enough, when we tried to re-arrange a lunch while we were in resort we found they were fully booked until half-way through the following week. Karen and Steve will be able to pre-book you into some of the best restaurants on the mountain for lunch and can arrange the schedule around your plans for lessons or other activities. Prompted by Karen, we ordered our lift-passes online to take advantage of the 10% saving for booking ahead and she collected them from the lift office for us so they were in the chalet for us on arrival. When we arrived at the chalet they ran us down to the ski-hire shop to help us get kitted out and straight on the mountain. As well as being a great host and chef, Steve is a qualified ski instructor and guide. I booked a day of lessons for the family where he took us exploring the ski area and handing out tips to all the family as we went. On another day, I booked him for an off-piste session - luckily Steve suggested moving the booking by one day to align with the fresh snow that was forecast and so I had an excellent day putting down fresh tracks in out of the way places. Steve provided an avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe and lent me a backpack for when we had to take off our skis and hike up to get to some of the best bits. A thoroughly enjoyable day in boot deep powder going to places I'd never have got to on my own. Overall, it's an excellent chalet with great food and lovely hosts in one of the best linked ski areas in Europe.…
We are just finishing the most wonderful week at Chalet Grand Loup! This is our third year skiing in Nendaz. We stayed in a Ski World catered chalet previously, but that experience pales in comparison to the week we had at Chalet Grand Loup! First, the property is just beautiful. Steve and Karen designed and built the chalet themselves, and they thought of everything. Four well-appointed en-suite bedrooms, lots of living space, sauna, hot tub and ski gear storage. The chalet benefits from wide-sweeping views of the mountains, which you can enjoy from almost everywhere in the chalet. There are lots of nooks and living areas where you can enjoy a book or get work done on the laptop, while gazing at the scenery. The location is extremely convenient, just 5 minute walk away from the Premier Alpine ski rental shop and the main Tracouet gondola. Also nearby are good restaurants, a pharmacy, grocery store and a sledging hill for the little ones. But frankly, what made our trip so magical were our hosts Karen and Steve. Karen and Steve are native Brits who have worked their entire careers and owned businesses in the food and hospitality industry, so they are natural and very skilled hosts. They contacted us in the weeks leading up to our arrival to recommend airport transfer companies, and offered to make restaurant reservations and pick-up ski passes in advance. They also agreed dinner menus in advance which we were so pleased about (Ski World would never do this by the way!). Steve is a very skilled chef and all of our meals were restaurant quality. Our kids enjoyed Steve's cooking so much that they were disappointed to eat in restaurants on the couple of evenings we ate out. Karen keeps the chalet tip-top and clearly knows how to get everything done in Nendaz. Between the two of them, we had all of Nendaz at our fingertips! By the way, did I mention Steve is also a qualified ski instructor with European Snowsport? We had such a lovely time - we are already planning our return trip to Chalet Grand Loup. We would recommend it to anyone looking for a convenient and luxurious catered chalet experience in the 4 Vallees. Thank you, Karen and Steve!!…
Just a weekend in this beautiful place. Excellent location, breathtaking view from the room and leaving room. The owners Karen and Steve absolutely perfect. They gave us information for walking, recommended some great restaurants and gave us the opportunity to share dinner with them and other guests. We felt at home. We cannot but recommend this great place.
