In response to JJNorthern, we also stayed in the room called Rutland. We suffered no external noise, and found the same room comfortable , clean and perfectly spacious. Our room overlooked the delightful vegetable garden,(just part of the stunningly beautiful gardens) and offered Egyptian cotton sheets, organic toiletries, comfy seating including a sofa, fluffy towels and robes. Breakfast offered freshly squeezed juice, wonderful home-made granola, local bacon and sausages, perfect kippers, plus honey from hives to go with the fresh croissants. Throughout our stay, each member of staff we came across proved to be charming, helpful and friendly. I had great trouble accessing the guest WiFi, which was seriously malfunctioning one one of the days we were there; but after much patience and hand-holding, an ingenious way round was found, and I was eventually able to get on line for sufficient time to deal with an outstanding issue! Yes we did enjoy the tasting menu on one of our three nights. It was every bit as delicious as we had anticipated. And the eclectic wine list contained some real gems, some at very reasonable prices.

A pretty location set in nice grounds. The reception is a little strange and the ambience in the hotel is a little fussy and pretentious with a poor layout. The bedroom we were in was supposed to be one of the best, like a mini suite, but sadly was situated next to the staff rest area so mid-late afternoon on Saturday it was like they were having a party next door - I had to tell them to shut up. NOT what you expect given the high cost. The common areas were also a little grubby in places. We dined in the restaurant on the tasting menu and the food, ambience and service there was faultless. In summary, dine but don't stay. The food is excellent; but the rooms are not worth the money, they are much over-priced for what you get. Stay at the Cavendish instead, its far more comfortable and welcoming, and dine in both the Cavendish Gallery Restaurant and also at Fischers.

We were three couples celebrating their 50th anniversaries. They looked after us so well. The hotel, grounds and restaurant were first class. Very near Chatsworth. Taster menu and wine flight were a great start on first night. Second night we went for the two course menu a la carte. Both were excellent. Strongly recommend.

A stunning venue with beautiful grounds and the kind of top notch food and service you don't easily find these days. Sunday lunch is magnificent and I wish we lived closer we would be there every week!

Lovely grounds and hotel. We stayed in a garden suite which was nice although separate from the main hotel building and not as charming. bit of black mould in shower. Breakfast was good and catered ok for a dairy allergy (although I would give them advance notice if possible). They don’t allow children for lunch or dinner unless they have space for private dining (they didn’t). Staff professional and service reasonable but it would benefit from someone who acted more as a host so it felt a little more friendly and welcoming, particularly on check in. Don’t expect to check in early as cleaning staff take lunch break at check out time. I think the focus of staff is on private events and perhaps the restaurant rather than the hotel.
