Amazing location, kept pinching myself when the mountains caught my eyes. View from room outstanding. Staff could be more customer focused. Food ok but not great. Lounge area stunning due to the views. The views are the highlight. What was seriously of concern though was the fire system evacuation at 0620 and there seemed to be no evacuation procedure in... We pre booked our rooms, one day before we went there, the weather forecast indicated it'd raining and snowing when we get there. The room had been booked and paid so regardless of the weather we still went there. It was raining and snowing the whole day, nothing much can be done when the weather was that bad. Choice of... We had a premium room on the 8th floor. It was lovely apart from the plumbing noises which were very loud and occurred every few minutes. There was no information telling us that room service was available and we only discovered this on our 3rd day. The two restaurants lack ambience and the food is average. We ate down the... More

We love the view from the hotel room and we also have a good sleep. It is because the room and bed is big enough! We also had a dinner in the hotel. The meals are average and quite expensive but the waitress are helpful and friendly.

A must visit property while on a vacation to New Zealand.. Superb view especially from the Top Floor rooms.. Amazed by the location of the property - you can gaze at snow capped mountains at three sides.. Although would request more vegetarian options in the restaurant menus, but overall the Hermitage at Mount Cook should be a must do for... More

Having lived in the Sth Island of New Zealand all my life, I finally decided my partner and I should visit Mt Cook. We stayed at The Hermitage, what lovely hotel. Friendly staff, amazing views, warm (lovely and cosy) with fires going. The walks around the area were spectacular, pack a picnic and spend the day exploring the area. We... More

The location is amazing and so is the view...once the cloud clears and you see Mt. Cook in all its splendour it is a once in a life time experience...the hotel comes with its own history...but unfortunately the service is not at all up to the mark...we reached early and they only allow check-ins at around 2:00/2:30 pm (if I... Stayed here for our 20th wedding anniversary. Everything was ok - not exceptional. Staff were friendly and helpful but you do feel that you're part of a processing line. Rooms were clean & warm with the promised stunning views, but they weren't anything special, even on the top floor. Some facilities were tired (one of the main lifts was out... More

Well, they advertise that they have wheelchair accessibility but unless you have someone with you the whole time helping, you will be stuck! The two disabled accessible rooms are at least 100 metres down soft carpet from the lift, the hallway is not wide enough to be able to turn the chair to get into the bathroom, there is a... More
