An impromptu trip up to Mt Olympus ski field left us with the option of either camping in our vehicle(very, very cold night) or finding accomodation elsewhere as the field lodges were all booked up. Enter TripAdvisor; a place that I must’ve driven past a hundred times during my tenure in New Zealand is on their map: Lake Coleridge Lodge.... More

My wife and I spent a night here for our wedding anniversary recently. It is a pleasant, older building with its own history set in a beautiful mountain valley. The rooms are quite adequate if not large in size; ours came with an ensuite. The dining area is a slim rectangular area adjacent to the spacious lounge; dinner was available... More

We stayed in one of the Superior rooms(without meals) at the lodge, it was everything you could ask for the price we paid. It was super clean and tidy, comfy bed and a small TV in room. Toni was welcoming and made us feel comfortable. The place is very well signed for to do's and not to do's. Spa and... More

We were only here for 1 night, but never the less we received a warm welcome. We found it interesting to see how Dean & Tonie turned this former hostel of the employees of the powerplan , which originates from 1934, into a comfortable lodge. There are 6 rooms (only 1 has an en suite) and 3 bathrooms in the... More

My father worked here on the hydro power station in the 80's and lived in the small houses here. The lake is a beautiful place fead from the mountains and is so clear. If you follow the outfall to the power station you will see what a force water can be.

I've stayed here both in the winter and summer months and thoroughly enjoyed my stays. There is some stunning hiking available in the area with views of the surrounding mountains (the Peak Hill hike is a must, as is the nearby arboretum and power station). The proprietors' are very knowledgeable about the area's history and ensured a fantastic stay. Comfortable... More

We arrived out of season to find the lodge closed. We are 2 te araroa trail hikers. We rang the bell and the nice lady gave us free hiking food and let us use the the kitchen to refill our water bottles. So far most kind accommodation on the trail.

Very kind of you to take the time to post these comments, especially considering I didn't do much at all!! Travelling in winter will certainly present a lot more challenges (like our Lodge being closed when you arrived), but hopefully you meet lots of helpful kiwis on your trip. All the best. More

We stayed only one night here, but it has lovely scenery and the owners are so accommodating and friendly. They make all the meals here, and I totally recommend you eat them. They have large portions for dinner, nice breakfasts, but don't miss the afternoon tea!

This was a hostel for single working men and the size of the bedrooms and quality of the fittings reflect this. Only a continental breakfast is offered. I would go elsewhere for a meal in the evening.

Thanks for your comments. As one of the more affordable places operating in the High Country, we have sought to keep prices down by offering a set menu dinner and continental breakfast (although cooked is available on request) and this seems to work well for the majority of our guests. There is also a kitchen for guests who prefer to... More

We stayed at Lake Coleridge Lodge after a three day segment of the Te Araroa trail. This entailed a long walk down the Harper River and then Harper River Road. Staggering into the lodge it was quite a contrast to experience the luxury of the lodge. A great room, great meal, and with some fine NZ wines on their wine... More
