The Gemflower is in need of some tender loving care. The room was spacious and relatively clean, however the carpet was very stained, black spots line much of the grouting in the shower and bath and there are other cosmetic signs of neglect (small holes in the wall covered by tape, chips of molding missing, etc.). The hotel needs some hafty renovations to bring back its shine. The bed, while large, was a typical hard, low profile Chinese bed, but the pillows were comfortable. Tea and water are available in the room. Complimentary WiFi worked well. Did not eat breakfast here as it started at 8 am and I had to leave for meetings before that time. Convenient location in the older part of town.
