An older facility but very well kept and very clean. The staff is amazingly friendly and helpful. A great place as a main base for day trips in the area. Lots of things to see around Uruapan. National Park with waterfalls and fountains, Paracha, known for guitar manufacturing, Waterfalls at Tsararacua, Copper town Santa Clara... Tsintsuntsan...
To be fair we didn't actually stay at this hotel. We made a reservation but when we arrived they showed us a room that was absolutely awful. Dark, dank, an smelly. We booked this hotel because we were traveling with 5 kids and wanted to have a place with a pool and the pictures looked great. When we arrived they told us the pool was empty! We couldn't get out of there fast enough! Ended up at the Holiday Inn Uruapan. A much better choice for us!
vacation appartments in teh middle of teh forest. Might be dangerous to move around at night. On weekend is a place to enjoy the swimming pool by local people. On winter rooms are cold. A taxi is required to move around.
Perhaps it was because we were one of the few guests, but we found this an utterly charming place. Great view from our room out to the nearby mountains, and yet super convenient right off the highway heading into Uruapan. Fireplaces in the room and we had an aguacate (avocado wood) fire - muy romantico! Nice comfortable king bed and lovely grounds and pool. Altogether a very nice experience for the price.
Wonderful staff too .....and absolutely wonderful food and great prices ...mind you it was January 1980 . I am sure that many things have changed but if the intrinsic beauty of the location hadn't been altered too much ...and the welcoming nature of the people is what I know it still can be from my other experiences in Mexico then this hotel is definitely on my 'bucket list ' . I have an enduring memory of standing on a terrace looking at the surrounding countryside and really not wanting to leave ...but as I only had 10 weeks to hitchhike from Mexico City to Vancouver I had to move on . I have no photographs from that time ..just a few clear shots held in my memory ...and a very creased hotel pamphlet which is kept in an old box with an old map of Mexico marked with my route ...and a few pesos ..…
