We had a super lunch with friends and enjoyed good quality food and ales in one of the bar areas (there's a few, and a restaurant). There was good selection to choose from and the staff were very polite and helpful. There's a number of ales to choose from along with usual lagers, pump beers and wines / spirits. Atmosphere... We stayed for one night as a base for meeting friends and family. Our room (1) was very spacious and well appointed. Obviously in an inn of this age the creaky floors and slightly uneven surfaces go with the territory and are part of the charm. The breakfast and evening meals (Cleone's) are good, with plenty to choose from in... More

Stopped off for a light lunch. Good selection of food on the menu card and three different areas of the pub to choose from. We chose the more cosy room with an open fire (could have gone for the 'atrium' part or the smaller bar). Great sandwiches and speedy service, nice relaxed atmosphere,

Stayed at The Angel for 2 nights recently. Arrived mid afternoon pub was busy but checked in with no problem. Pleasantly surprised with the rooms which were clean and comfy. Slept very well despite the pub being very busy. All the staff were very friendly, breakfast was lovely. Nothing too much trouble both mornings. Absolutely no complaints.

Visiting the area for a short break we decided to go the Angel on our first night for a meal after a long journey. Great choice . Just the right place . Nice choice although maybe a bit lacking for full veggies. I eat fish as well so no problems for me . Nice service . It was a Saturday... More

An excellent restaurant and bar are rather let down by the quality of the bathrooms but hey ho, its clean, somewhere to sleep, and very reasonably prices. Service can be a little slow but the staff are friendly, helpful; and polite.

Enjoyed a pleasant lunch in the historic Angel to-day. The food served to our group of 3 was of excellent quality and good value. Although there is a restaurant we chose to eat in the small back bar many other diners had lunch in the larger front bar

Stayed here to attend a wedding locally. So not our usual neck of the woods but this was a pleasant find. Had sandwiches for lunch in the bar and these were freshly made and very tasty. Plenty of locals eating and drinking too - always a good sign. Our room was a decent enough size and the twin beds were... More

Had lunch today for the first time, which both had the pasta. My daughter's pasta had steak and mine prawns. Her pasta was dry like it had been sitting there, nothing special and rather bland. Mine was ok. Thought the food on the whole was over priced mine £11 and hers £12, for the portion size and flavours. Would certainly... More
