We have been trying to get married since 9th April 2020 and decided to not let Covid stop us anymore but our original venue were simply awful about adapting or making any changes. After a lengthy battle we got some money back and turned to Hitchin Priory and Sue the wedding/events manager was simply wonderful and a true breath of fresh air after such a lot of knockbacks she simply gave us our wedding back. Although for only 15 the Priory day gave us our wedding back and nothing was too much trouble and we had the most amazing day ever. If you want a venue to make a small restricted wedding feel like your Plan A again then look no further. I wish the team well through lockdown two..
Historic venue in a beautiful setting, close to shops, bars and restaurants. Extremely friendly and helpful staff who make you feel very welcome. Special thanks to Luke and Sue who were very attentive. Didn’t get to try the food in the hotel but the menu looked interesting and dining guests seemed very happy. Definitely somewhere to return. Thank you.
Stayed here yesterday overnight 26/9 and have woken up this morning with terrible back pain from the thin mattress, not a good end to a lovely stay. Great location, room was well presented and room had been changed as I had requested a bath after I'd booked 👍. Staff were polite, courteous and very helpful. I'd go there again 😷😁
From the moment we arrived at reception, the very welcoming staff explained the covid-secure arrangements that have been made to help reassure patrons and provide a safe environment. The staff made our greyhound Jilly equally welcome! Part of the hotel was originally a monastery and there are many attractive historic features including old wooden beams and stripped stone walls. It is set in the most glorious parkland and a small waterway winds its way around the side of the building, neighbouring coach houses and annexes. We were given a lovely ground-floor en-suite room in the coach-house, one of several rooms with their own front door onto the courtyard. It was spotlessly clean and immensely comfortable. The full English breakfast was generous and piping hot, served in a large high-ceilinged breakfast-room in the main building. The big Georgian-style windows provided ample views out over the green sward of the hotel grounds. It is a peaceful place despite being only a few minutes walk from the historic streets of Hitchin town centre. We had a very enjoyable couple of days at The Priory and can't wait to go back.…
The building and grounds are great to look at however the rooms are unfortunately in really poor shape. Very very outdated, almost dirty looking. The disappointing thing is the way the website portrays the rooms.
