Place needs cleaning updating and a complete makeover... Rooms are grubby and tatty. The place looks unloved and cheap... It's like a throw back to the 1970's in terms of decor and finish. Could be a fab location with care, good management and focus on customer experience... Location is good but everything else is a let down...

We've come back to the venue after having our wedding here last year to celebrate our 1st anniversary , and it's still lovely , the staff go out of their way to make your stay the best. The food and drinks are very reasonable and of a good quality , it's nice also to be very near the shops and...

Following a professional and sensitive meeting with Charlotte we booked a room for my Mother's reception following the funeral. Everything went exactly to plan - the food was excellent, staff most helpful and all guests were very impressed. I would highly recommend this venue.

We attended this venue for our son's wedding and the venue, setting, staff and food were all excellent. The only downside was some of the accommodation which was tired and in need of refurbishment. If you are looking for a venue, be it for a wedding or other event, with unbelievable grounds this is the place to check out.

This hotel needs a complete overhaul and some care taken by the owners (and cleaners) who should visit a Premier Inn and see how it's done. Please choose the Premier Inn nearby instead of this joke of a hotel. I was in the 'newer part' of the hotel in the court bit - still bad. My colleagues had to all...

Dear TravelKittenLondon, Thank you for your feedback, we will take a look at your room as this is not up to our usual standards. Some of our rooms are not up to the standard of other hotels such as the Premier Inn but we do try to reflect this is our prices.

The priory is a wonderful old building full of beautiful old woodwork. I was very pleasantly surprised when I arrived. there is lots of parking space and it is free for guests. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The place, though, needs a lot of TLC. My room, No. 12, had very heavy floor to ceiling curtains but...

Just stayed for one night. We were told when we booked there was a wedding on the night we were staying, so could not use the restaurant, but we heard nothing all evening! We were able to walk in to town and had a great a great meal. The hotel itself is beautiful, we were in a separate building to...

Myself and three others went to the priory to attend the Fawlty towers experience, It was excellent. The drinks were reasonably priced, the food was lovely and the show was brilliant. I would highly recommend. I do hope that the priory host many more events like this.

I stayed for just one night in Room 7 in the main house, and I couldn't find fault with anything. Excellent value for money. The location is great. The main building and grounds are lovely and full of original character. I found the reception staff really warm and welcoming, particularly Jess who went out of her way to sort out...

After reading the poor reviews I was abit worried about what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised, great location, lovely grounds, friendly staff and good breakfast, room a little tired in places but clean comfy bed, all in all great value, if you want 5* then pay for it. Would stay again if going to Hitchin
