We visited for an over night stay prior to my son's graduation. We were met with a very warm welcome. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. The rooms were lovely and very comfortable. Breakfast was tasty and well presented. I would highly recommend a stay here a little gem in a beautiful area of Wales

Short walk to town centre. Friendly staff. Historic nature of building retained with sympathetic modern furnishings. Rooms are en suite and very comfortable beds. Breakfast choice is as much or little as you wish, with local produce. Small car park but there is plenty of on street parking outside. Rhayader is a good base for visiting mid Wales.

My family stayed here recently and we loved it. Okay, the walls are quite thin, so you can hear the odd conversation or toilet flushing, but I've stayed in a fair few hotels and I don't think it's any worse than at some Ibis or Premier Inns. Also, I think most people are courteous when they know they'll be in... More

Stayed here for a couple of nights to see Red Kites and explore Elan Valley. Lovely warm welcome from Sian & Gwil. En-suite room was spacious and very comfortable and choice at breakfast was excellent. Recommended as a base to explore this part of Wales.

Stayed one night last weekend. Impressed from the start, our room was all (original) beams and quality, bed very comfortable, en-suite actually had a shower with terrific water pressure - others take note !!! Very friendly with a very comfortable bar and an excellent breakfast. Highly recommended, wouldn't hesitate to return........

Stayed here over the Bank Holiday weekend at the end of May. The room was perfectly adequate, although the shower in room 3 is not very big. Off road parking is handy and the location is pretty central to get an evening meal. No evening meals in the pub but there is an Indian restaurant in an annexe and plenty... More

You can't say bad about the quality of The Bear, it's high end, it's a lovely night sleep (when it's quiet) and we had a beam in our room. A grea shower, good tv, suuuuper comfy bed and everything else you'd expect in a room of this calibre. HOWEVER! The walls are paper thin and we heard screaming children and... More

We stayed for two nights over the Easter weekend and we're delighted with our cosy and comfortable en-suite room. It was spotlessly clean and appeared to have been recently refurbished. The breakfast was first class - excellent bacon and sausages which are locally sourced. The free wi-fi was an added bonus
