Travelling with a 16month old, we chose the hotel due to its proximity to Male and the Jumeirah brand. The beach villa was beautiful and spacious, and all our enquiries were met upon arrival: a cot and highchair, babyproofed pool, nappies, and open view to the sea were all

Response from SafaNR, Manager at Jumeirah Vittaveli

Dear Anna C Thank you for the time taken for your review following your stay with us. We are pleased that there were several areas where we met your expectations, and regretfully note that there were a few issues where as a luxury resort we could have done much better. Please accept our sincerest apologies for the shortfalls. As you have mentioned, we took every care of your inquiries and the needs that are there while traveling with a young child, but there were areas which are unacceptable. Being on a remote island, we are left with managing quite a few functions by ourselves, including recycling or reduction of waste volume. I recall, we had a situation with the incinerator where we burn our organic waste such as dry leaves and branches, during that time. There were some particles which flew in the surrounding. Your villa being the closest to the incinerator was affected the most. It has since been rectified. The floor (outdoor deck) that you have mentioned was in fact cleaned immediately but had some particles which flew in again. Once we identified the issue, we addressed it and just as a precautionary measure we offered to move your villa. We completely understand that the suggestion would could have been looked as an inconvenience, however was suggested with the best interest. We are very fortunate to have a very healthy house reef surrounding the island and it’s a shame that sometimes with the currents we may get some of the debris that you have mentioned. Our team goes around the island in a systematic manner whereby we clean all the debris as much as possible. We have taken note of the area that you have mentioned. I trust that your underwater experience on the rest of the resort was spectacular. Our team should have been more careful while delivering the amenities. On both occasions they did not see the sign which was on the inside door. To avoid this is the future, we are now in the process of positioning all the call bells inside the main gate of the beach villas. It is a pity that you did not get to experience Swarna, which is awarded as the best Indian restaurant internationally, several times now. We are pleased that you enjoyed the food at Fenesse and MU. We noted that In Villa Dining was probably your favorite as you ordered every day from there, and sometimes up to 3-4 times in a day. We are apologetic that there were delays on one or two occasions and rest assured this has been taken on board. Thank you for your most generous comments on the Kids Club, The Spa and the Dive Center. We certainly would be delighted to have you back with us and ensure that you have the most perfect holiday ever. Yours Sincerely, Safa Naseer Personal Assistant to General Manager Jumeirah Vittaveli Maldives

Dear ravindrajaipur, Thank you for your interest in Jumeirah Vittaveli! Jumeirah was officially opened on 14 December, 2011, so we just celebrated our 7 year anniversary a month ago. Since the opening, we created a host of new facilities at the resort, such as the award winning Indian restaurant Swarna which opened in 2015, the lavish 5-bedroom Royal Residence that was opened in March 2017, the ice rink that was inaugurated by Olympic gold medal winner Evgeny Plushenko in March 2018, and now, we just opened our Private Ocean Retreats with the longest water slides in Maldives! At the same time, all of our overwater villas are being converted into the new and indulgent Infinity Pool Ocean Villas, including extended decks, glass floored dining, overwater hammocks and more. Please let us know if you have any further questions on Jumeirah Vittaveli - we’d be more than happy to assist! With warm regards, Concierge, Jumeirah Vittaveli

Dear mbaser, While it is always difficult to predict the weather in Maldives, as it can change very quickly but is generally sunny and always tropically warm, we would say that in January, the sunset side of the island will mostly benefit from calmer waters. In the Maldives, the weather is divided into two seasons, defined by the wind direction that changes from North-East during the months of December-March, to South-West, during the months of May to October. The Maldives also has its own intricate weather prediction system, called the Nakaiy. This is a weather calendar based on ancient knowledge of the country’s seafaring population who were guided by the stars before there was any modern GPS equipment on board. According to the Nakaiy calendar, the second half of January sees calm seas and moderate winds that blow from the North-East. Please let us know if you have any further questions on Jumeirah Vittaveli - we’d be more than happy to assist! With warm regards, Concierge, Jumeirah Vittaveli

Dear Fan W, Thank you for your interest in our new villas with water slides! We are delighted to let you know that some of our Private Ocean Retreats with slides are already open, with the remainder following before mid-February. Once all seven Private Ocean Retreats with slides are open, the Infinity Pool Ocean Villas with slides will follow straight thereafter! Thus, for your planned Maldives holidays at the end of January, we would have Private Ocean Retreats with slides, however, at the moment, they are sold out for the week before January 31. We have availability again starting February 1. Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance. We hope to welcome you to our island resort soon! With warm regards, Concierge, Jumeirah Vittaveli
