Detailed Reviews
I have been coming to the Burleigh Falls Inn for many years, and I am now lucky enough to live in the area. It is a beautiful classic old hotel built right at the falls on Stony Lake and across from Buckhorn Lake. It is on the east side of Highway 28 just south of the lock connecting the two lakes on the Trent Severn Waterway and offers docking for boaters on the canal and on the lake who wish to stop for a meal.
I have heard that the motel type rooms are surprisingly roomy and comfortable and I did stay at the Inn a few years ago in a second floor room with a balcony. It was great and spacious. The third floor rooms are even bigger and have jacuzzi tubs. This review is primarily about the restaurant meals. as they are now in the Fall of 2021.
The quality of dining has varied over the years and the dining area has moved and then moved back to the large room overlooking the lake. The facility is often home to weddings and is a great spot for that. Dinner in the dining room meets a high standard for quality and value. I had the medallions of beef in August and they were tender and truly excellent. The menu changed in September and my companions had beef stroganoff while I had the rainbow trout. They were both very good with the trout fillet served on rice with a nice vegetable assortment and the stroganoff was served with a choice of usual broad noodles or the apparently authentic way with French fries. The stroganoff also came with a generous dollop of sour cream on top. I did taste it and I will keep that meal in reserve for my next visit. I also hear they are planning a Thanksgiving Turkey Dinner for the upcoming Canadian holiday in October. You can also take out meals and bring them to your cottage, boat or wherever you are staying.
I highly recommend the Burleigh Falls Inn.

We came just after the summer season was over. We had a huge room with a private patio overlooking the dam. Very quiet and very large Furniture is old fashioned but everything is consistent and 'fits'. Traffic was noisy until we closed the window and that cut all the noise (very well fitted and sealed). We did not hear another guest. Ordered takeout for one night from the restaurant; portions were generous and delicious.

We stayed in the main lodge in an absolutely huge room with a wonderful view of the pool and lake. There is a shared balcony that is large enough to accommodate social distancing. The property has a quaint feel and is definitely not a cookie cutter chain hotel. Staff were nice. If you are staying in the main lodge, be aware that you will be climbing stairs. There is no elevator. We ate on the patio but not far away there is a diner as well as a nice golf course.

A group of 10 went to the Inn to eat and the waitress (Debbie) was rude right from the beginning. As locals we were very disappointed. The general manager Jen was also less than professional when approached about the rudness. The food has also deteriorated and they serve heavily processed chicken that I wouldn't feed my dog . The server cut us off after 2 drinks and when asked for items that should accompany the meal she responded with " yeah , you will get it eventually " . Having been in the hospitality industry for 20yrs I was disappointed to see grown adults treat patrons poorly and then expect a nice tip ! Save your money and eat somewhere else unless you like being completely disrespected

Response from Jennifer Craig, General Manager at Burleigh Falls Inn
Responded Jul 16, 2023
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. As I did that evening, in the most respectful way possible, and explained that although you may have felt you could entertain more beverages, we as the establishment responsible for you until you arrive home, did not. It's never easy to hear no, no matter how it is delivered, and it was abundant by your display of disgruntled behavior that perhaps you weren't use to being told no - this was abundantly clear when you tried to not only "bribe" our serving staff, but also myself - by saying - if you serve us we will give you a "good " tip - We "drop" a lot of money around the Lake. Money can't buy you everything, and I hope in hindsight you will see " as your 20 years of Hospitality" experience should note, no amount of money is worth the chance of losing our business because we overserved someone who either gets hurt or God forbid hurts someone else due to intoxication. So, although, I appreciate your business and your comments, I also stand firm with our decision that evening, done with respect by myself and our staff, even though that same respect was not shown from yourself or some of your guests. Warm Regards, Jennifer

After returning from our destination wedding in Mexico, we needed an opportunity to reconnect and rejuvenate as a couple. We stayed in the main lodge and were assigned a corner room with a great balcony and lake views. The room was graciously appointed with a very comfortable queen bed, fluffy duvet and comfortable linens.
This was a return trip to Burleigh Falls and it never disappoints. The General Manager is a warm and welcoming host who always makes time for a chat and to ensure all your needs are met. Tammy the Chef is talented and we can not wait to return for one of her upcoming specialty menu nights.
Cheers your fans Ken and Paul

It was a nice surprise to find this resort in the middle of no where. We were working near by and found this place at the last minute and we were very pleased. The rooms had two beds, big soaker tub, fridge, microwave and coffee maker... All the things you need to feel like a home away from home. The bed was very comfortable and the resort was very quiet. Another thing that was a lovely surprise was the beautiful view of the lake from the back porch. The sun porch gave us an extra space to sit and enjoy a glass of wine. The only thing I would say that is negative is that we were there at the wrong time of year. The restaurant was only open on the Thursday night for our last night of the trip and therefore we needed to drive back into the closest town 20 minutes away to go for dinner our first night. When we did have dinner at the resort the food was wonderful and the service was great... we were the only people there at the time, so it was fast and enjoyable.

Looks like a beautiful place to stay, unfortunately no luck making a reservation. Owner was quite rude and condescending on the phone once I was finally able to get ahold of her. A genuine apology and not making a potential guest feel like an inconvenience, goes a long way.

This was our second visit to the Inn. We think it's a fabulous place with a fine European touch. We heartily recommend it. Our room was spacious, light and airy and featured a huge balcony. We particularly appreciated details such as the high ceilings and baseboards and the wooden trim around the windows.

Communications with the hotel via phone calls and emails was very pleasant and informative regarding booking a reservation. Check in was incredibly easy, the room was really lovely with wood stove, spa bath and large balcony with beautiful views. Breakfast was delicious. Would definitely recommend and return.

We stayed over night and ate in the restaurant for both dinner and breakfast.
The staff were friendly and the food was not bad, I would say there was excess garnish like the over use of balsamic vinegar at dinner and pea shoots at breakfast, the food would benefit from losing these extra garnishes.
Overall the stay was pleasant and the accommodation was clean and very nicely furnished compared to other establishments in the area.

We are hoping to book a stay at Burleigh Falls Inn/Hotel from July 25 to Aug 8 2020. From photos that I have found do you offer rental cottages with dock access?
