This is a beautiful place to stay, full of history and character in a quiet area. We were warmly welcomed and looked after by our charming hostess. We speak some French which was just as well, as Madame doesn't speak English. The Priory is convenient for driving out and exploring the Loire Valley area, and we visited the wonderful Chateau... Very little English spoken but friendly - a little French goes a long way. The hotel looks fantastic and ideally situated for exploring the Chateaux of the Loire. Our Sat. Nav. struggled to find the hotel but I had printed out some 'Google Maps' beforehand and these helped. Rather than being allowed to park on the large wide driveway we... More

I stayed here with my friends and must say we really enjoyed our stay very much. The hostess is very friendly and helpful. She gives you an excellent chance to practise French, too. The room is essentially an authentic medieval room, of the times when they had no interior decorations, just bare stone walls covered with tapestries, carpets on the... More

The old priory was a charming historical place to stay, but I agree with other posters that the hostess is sometimes a bit bossy. It's also best if you speak French, because her English is limited. We were driving a new Mercedes but were told that we must park out back along a dirt road. We were thankful we had... More

I stayed here with my husband and my teenage daughters in June of 2013 and we all enjoyed the chaise tremendously. The house (actually a lot more like a mansion) is beautifully furnished and Daniel makes you feel like you are staying with your friend. I have to say reading some of the earlier reviews I was concern staying at... More

My son and I had a wonderful visit to the Loire Valley region primarily due to the warm and welcoming hospitality of Danielle at Le Prieure De La Chaise. We are American and although my son speaks French, I speak at best, broken French. Danielle went above and beyond to make our visit unforgettable. She is an absolute delight! We... More

While travelling along the spectacular Loire Valley (again) we came across this most extraordinary place, not far from the main tourist attractions (Chenonceau is only 10 minutes away), but already in the middle of the French countryside tranquillity. The old Priory next to the 12th century chapel is secluded behind high walls, surrounded by vineyards and the perfect place to... More

“Rooms on the second and third levels are accessed via a medieval stone staircase. There is no elevator, so you will need to carry your luggage up to your room. We had the room called "Tour" (tower), which was very beautiful and decorated with antiques. It also had nice views from the windows.”
