Tripadvisor gives a Travelers’ Choice award to accommodations, attractions and restaurants that consistently earn great reviews from travelers and are ranked within the top 10% of properties on Tripadvisor.
At the sublime junction where the black volcanic sand of Perivolos Beach meets the midnight blue waters of the Aegean Sea, one finds Istoria, a 12-suite retreat, where a unique blend of classic and contemporary aesthetics animates a next-generation social hub, while embracing all the needs of modern and sophisticated travelers, for an experience that is wholly and authentically Greek. As if sculpted from the hand of some chthonic deity and bathed in bright Cycladic sunshine, Istoria’s 12 idyllic suites are impressively arched towards the privacy of verdant terraces, crowned, in most cases, with private outdoor hot tubs or pools, offering an additional layer of refuge to this resplendent haven.

We booked the Istoria as we wanted to be on the beach before visiting the busier side of the island ((Oia), we couldn’t have been happier with our choice.
The area is quiet and whilst not beautiful the hotel and its ammenities more than make up for this.
The transfer was stress free and on arrival at the hotel we felt very safe as staff wear protective masks and there is hand sanitiser easily available and on every table, we were also provided with mini hand sanitisers and masks.
We stayed in a sea view Suite with Hot tub, the bed was incredibly comfortable and the quality of the sheets excellent. The rooms are very nicely decorated and furnished.
The swimming pool is beautiful and there are enough beds for everyone staying whivh are well spaced out. There is a pool bar and one can eat lunch poolside.
The beach has a private area belonging to the hotel and has sun beds and bean bags. The service on the beach is excellent, cold water in ice buckets and towels are brought to you.
The food really is excellent, a twist on traditional Greek food. They have clearly sourced a great chef. The prawn Saganaki with gnocchi was sublime. Breakfast was ordered from a menu but we leant that they were more than happy to accommodate requests not in the menu. The position of the dining room means you can’t quite see the sea which was slightly frustrating, also the shaded table are few, but they cleverly stagger breakfast so you can always get a table in the shade - the beauty of a small boutique hotel.
The staff are the absolute stand out - nothing was too much trouble, quite rare these days to find a team so clearly happy in their work and they operate like a small family. Thank you to you all for making out stay a relaxing, pampered experience that we won’t forget for a long time.

Thank you so much to Istoria Hotel for the most magical stay. The styling of the hotel is beautiful, around every corner is another beautiful feature with the stunning Santorini light shining through. The food in the restaurant and around the pool/beach was delicious, healthy but substantial. The pool bar (which we frequented quite a bit) served really yummy fresh cocktails and reasonably priced, very good quality, local wine. For us the staff were the high point, always smiling, so incredibly helpful and were like our own concierge for the week, recommending the best restaurants and booking us cars which took us to Oia and Thira. We just had to WhatsApp and the car would come right back and pick us up. The beds were so comfortable with the most beautiful soft sheets and the air con was so quiet which we appreciated so much. The hotel is situated just off the beach with lovely comfy sun beds and a short walk from a very cool beach club called Wet Stories and some lovely local restaurants.
Couldn’t recommend it enough. Thank you for making our week so special! We were supposed to be getting married in Ibiza but this trip really made up for it!

Our stay at Istoria was truly memorable for various reasons. Anastasia at the front desk was amazing! She knew who we were before we even arrived and that made us feel truly special! She was always happy to help and we appreciated that. The location is perfect, right across from Perivolos Beach and guests of Istoria got to have the first row of beach chairs complete with beach service! The black sand was hot but the beach was great! Our room was so cute and modern but with a old stable twist. The amenities was top notch and turn down service was also included. The hotel was also on the main drag in Perivolos but not noisy at all and walking distance to restaurants. It had a very bohemian chill vibe that we appreciated after our first night in Santorini, in Fira which was wayyyy too noisy. You don't have the caldera views but it was also nice to see this part of the island.

The Istoria is literally an oasis of calm, quality and luxury just a stones throw from the black sanded beaches of Perivolos. This small luxury boutique style hotel almost seems a world away from its more immediate surroundings. High natural stone walls and mature planting further add to the exclusivity and seclusion. From the moment you step into the tranquility of the reception, to the moment you leave, the amazing staff do everything to make you feel welcome and special. It is hard to select any individual staff member, as they are all superb. The layout of the hotel all adds to the sense of privacy and calm. Only 12 rooms, I believe but each unique and individually appointed and styled. My super kingsize bed sported beautiful white, cooling cotton sheets and a topper that was three inches think. The perfect nights sleep. The pool is wonderful, with the dark green tiling giving an effect of the perfect lagoon. Long enough to swim for exercise, but beautiful also for just cooling and relaxing in. Wonderfully comfortable sun beds and attentive staff add to the poolside experience. If the beach is your choice, then the Hotel's exclusive section is clean and well appointed. The sea itself is also warm, crystal clear and welcoming. Breakfast, oh wow ! an event in itself. Take your time to enjoy a culinary wander through the best and most comprehensive menu I have ever experienced. You would need to brace yourself for this highlight, as quantity is every bit as impressive and the quality. For dinner also, it is a must, dining of the very highest order, at a price that is little different to the raft of very ordinary taverna's that pervade the remainder of the beach. The spa was small but calming, cool and functional.
I could not speak more highly on The Istoria, as impressive as the more photogenic parts of Santorini are, it was this hotel experience that made our stay so very perfect.

We loved this hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our three night stay.

The pool is beautiful. It’s extremely big and elegantly designed, lined with plush pool beds either side and a trendy bar serving excellent cocktails - shout-out to Alexandros! It’s worth mentioning that the hotel provides ample beds for guests; there is at least one bed per person at both the pool and beach.

The black sand beach is stunning. It is at the end of a row of beach clubs but separated from the penultimate one by quite some distance. Nonetheless, it is worth mentioning that the hotel appears online to be more secluded than it is. It does have its advantages though as you can easily walk to a number of restaurants for dinner. Again, the beds are extremely comfy and spaced out from one another so that you can really enjoy your privacy. There’s a member of staff at the beach who takes orders for food and drink.

The room was beautiful. We took the lowest category and it was an extremely spacious room with a lovely terrace with a daybed and table and chairs and partial sea view. Unfortunately due to the structure of the hotel there are limited rooms with a full sea view.

The staff are simply excellent. They are all extremely warm and friendly. Petros, Petros and Emmanuel were all extremely helpful. The whatsapp concierge service was an excellent touch, meaning that you could organise hotels, transfers etc from the comfort of your pool bed! They did a tremendous job of making you feel welcome.

The food was particularly good. The breakfast menu offers twists on Greek classics. The mozzarella omelette was possibly the best omelette I have ever had! The lunch menu was also diverse and extremely delicious.

We would love to return!

We recently returned from a week stay at Istoria Hotel Santorini and had a wonderful time. the hotel is perfect , the rooms amazing and so close to the pool and beach as the hotel only has 12 rooms.

The food was amazing at breakfast and the best we have had on Santorini.

By far the best thing about the hotel is the staff who will do anything for you, all the staff were amazing and so friendly during our stay , Mano's on reception who was happy to organise anything we needed and Alex on the bar serving the best cocktails and the amazing Anna who did not stop running around all day on the beach serving guest and keeping us all happy ........I have mentioned 3 staff but to be honest all the staff were amazing!!

We have stayed on Santorini 3 times and I can say this was by far the best location and hotel, Perivolos unlike Oia and Fira are not on the caldera view but that is why this hotel is so perfectly located, away from the busy crowds, right on the beach and no steps , sure visit Oia and Fire as they are both beautiful but to staying there a week is to much.

Perivolos also have some wonderful restaurants and the food is far better that on offer in Oia and fira as they only have to cater for the cruise passengers who visit daily...although. not there this year due to Covid .

Recommended restaurants in Perivolous or near by are Seaside (amazing) but a 15 minute walk, Istoria's restaurant serves delicious food, if you take a 10 minute taxi to the harbour near by theres an amazing restaurant ToPsaraki , the best fish restaurant on the island and so delicious, also the beach bar Wet Storied was so chilled with a really cool crowd for from the beach drinking late afternoon cocktails.

All in all a fantastic week and in my opinion the best hotel we have stayed at on Santorini and we will be returning again next year.

Thanks to all the team at Istoria and keep up the good work

We were driving by and came upon this wonderful beach club. They give you free sunbeds with condition to spend minimum 25€ which was very correct and smart of them, as we ended up drinking and eating all afternoon. Their staff are always walking around checking to see if we need anything and they have really high quality beach beds. Excellent place to chill, later we found out that they also have a hotel in the back, with the excellent quality of service on the beach, service at hotel would be much better and we will definately come and stay at this hotel next trip over. So relaxing and chill beach, totally meets every expectation.

All the family really enjoy the stay there.

The hotel is just great, with an amazing private access on the beach.

The common areas are beautiful,

The swimming pool is incredible with a great temperature.

The staff is super nice, well trained, special thanks to Peter for his kindness and all of the staff is super nice from the waiters at breakfast to the crew at the beach and at the pool bar. Everyone want you to enjoy your stay and we reallly appreciate it.

Katerina from the spa is super professional give the best massages and the spa treatments are really on a very high quality price ratio.

Mister e is a very nice restaurant we had a great lunch and many great breakfast

The only little thing that I would mention would be that the rooms are not of the same size and it may be reflected on the price. If tou take the tarina suites make sur to have the number one and not the four.

But even in the room number four if I have to come back, for sure, I will come back again in this hotel that we all really loved!

We stayed at Istoria for a week and had the most wonderful experience. Every little detail is well-thought to give this impression of casualness and simplicity, from the entrance of the hotel to everything in your room. Talking about the room, we had couple surprises that were very kind like a glass of wine the day of the arrival, lemonade and biscuits or even little chocolates. On top of that, everyone from the staff was extremely nice and thoughtful to us during the whole week. And I think the photos of the hotel speak for themselves concerning the beauty of the place, the pool is just magical and perfect to host everyone from the 12 rooms, the room is beautifully decorated, the bar and restaurant are very intimate and soothing… Plus the location permits privileged access to the beach, which is beautiful and isn’t that crowded. Also the breakfast and dinner at Mr.E are truly delightful and again very well-thought to be a mix between local dishes and sophisticated meals. Finally I feel important to say that we were able to reach for help and advise about anything at any time of the day through a Whatsapp line with very quick and helpful replies. I would recommend Istoria to everyone wanting to visit Santorini as it is just the perfect hidden gem for a restful vacation and not far from interesting things to visit like Akrotiri, Red Beach, Fira or Ancient Fira.

This hotel was like a little piece of paradise. All of the staff could not have been more welcoming, friendly and helpful. The pool is every bit as amazing as it looks. The breakfast is very enjoyable and the private beach is well maintained. I have never stayed in a hotel where the rooms have been cleaned so well - this may sound like a strange comment, but the lady who cleaned our room was so thorough.

When we booked, we were a little unsure of staying on this side of the island but on reflection it was perfect. We had a couple of days out on excursions to Fira / Oia so we watched the sunset, experienced the white buildings but enjoyed heading back to and having a beach available every day.

Thankyou for such an enjoyable trip.
