Seven-Up Guest Ranch exceeded my expectations. Janet, the on site manager, was incredibly kind and helpful. The guest houses are located so close to so many beautiful and delicious wineries, and her suggestions of where to visit were spot on. The rooms were clean & well stocked with amenities, and AC worked great which was necessary on 90 degree days! The property is beautiful and serene. The breakfast was by far the highlight--homemade everything, salsa, frittata, potatoes, etc. I can't say enough how lovely & welcoming Janet was, I would 100% love to come by & stay longer!
We recently spent 5 nights in the Pancho Villa Room at Seven-Up Guest Ranch. When we arrived, we were greeted by the Innkeeper, Janet and by Oscar, the owner’s friendly Australian Shepherd (the ranch mascot IMO). Janet had some fresh baked cookies and some lemon rosemary infused water ready for us at check-in. Janet was a welcoming hostess, both friendly and accommodating. She called to arrange a last minute reservation for us at a local restaurant the Friday evening of our arrival (a busy evening in the area), demonstrating what a close-knit, community the Fairplay/Somerset area is. She gave us some good tips on the local wineries, as well. The room was quiet and comfortable (comfy Cal King bed). The cabins have the creature comforts conveniences of home (a/c, mini-fridge, coffee maker) but are secluded on the rolling, tree lined hills. We enjoyed being mostly disconnected from the internet (Verizon LTE service was good but we limited our use). We relaxed, enjoying the scenery, hiking around the 146 acre property, wine tasting and enjoying the area attractions (Kennedy Mine, Downtown Placerville, a day trip to Lake Tahoe). There are many things to see and do in the area, but relaxing and enjoying the outdoors was the biggest part of the attraction to Seven-Up. It was like being with nature (but with a cozy room). Each morning we had coffee on the front porch of the cabin, listening to the birds sing, and each evening we retreated there for a bottle of wine watching the sun fade behind the trees and mountains. We did not want to leave. If you are looking for a low-key, quiet escape, close to nature, look no further than Seven-Up Guest Ranch. We enjoyed our stay so much that we are planning to return next summer. …
We love the Fairplay area for tasting, people are relaxed and friendly and incredible wineries. Finding the Seven Up Ranch made everything work. Family owned and dog friendly with beautiful grounds it is a place we will return to often. Janet met us with warm chocolate chip cookies and we left after a wonderful breakfast with gift bags for Mother’s Day. Beds are comfortable, rooms are stocked and clean
Lovely cabins on beautifully wooded grounds. Janet is an excellent hostess with a lot of knowledge about the area. She also cooks a wonderful breakfast feast so you’re ready to start your tasting tour bright and early with a hearty base in your stomach. Only issue is the super soft bed, but the wine seemed to take care of it....we all slept very soundly.
We stayed at the Seven Up Guest Ranch last week, and we were there for four nights. It was a perfect retreat for us. Off the main road, but not far, it was peaceful and quiet. There is no TV in the rooms, which was a bonus, as we much preferred sitting on the porch outside our room, with a cup of coffee (each room is equipped with coffee maker, microwave, and small refrigerator) and watching the sun come up. The rooms are rustic, but clean and comfortable. Our hostess, Janet, was wonderful. She prepared the most delicious breakfasts, was so knowledgeable about the area and the wineries, and went out of her way to make us feel at home. We have family in the area and will be visiting again. So glad to have found a home away from home.
