We had the best stay at Wharekauhau. The farm is beautiful and the lodge is a mix of modern and old rustic ambience. Our cottage was cosy with beautiful ocean views. The staff made our stay extra special. They looked after us with a level of professionalism and cheer. The food and service were just what you'd expect from a... More

Amazing spacious suites. Beautiful remote location by the sea, in the country by mountains. The only sounds are from birds, sheep and the sea. The food and wine were delicious. Everything felt personalised, intimate, friendly and professional. Totally exceeded our expectations and hopes.

to celebrate our 55th wedding anniversary my wife and I spent 2 nights at this luxury Lodge. The standard of the accommodation and the dining was of the highest order. But what really made this stay special was the friendliness of the staff and the little extras provided to make the occasion really special.

This place is worth a special trip. Off course the food, the service and the accommodation were all first class - as one would expect but there was something else, an x factor, that really sets Wharekauhau apart. South Wairarapa has a very particular feel, a sense of the conjunction of sky land and sea and it was this vibe... More

From the moment we checked in the fantastic started. We stayed in the Storm Watch accommodation. Great for couples or large groups. The staff are so friendly. Lovely meals. Plenty to do or not to do your choice. We were very lucky with the weather. We will be going back. Well done team Wharekauhau.

Stunning property and great people. Relaxing stay with great meals and wine. However, for a high end property a few little things need attention. Sour milk in the fridge, gas fire with a broken starter and a TV remote with flat batteries were things that shouldn't have occurred. And there was gin in the mini bar but no tonic -... More

Just completed a whirlwind tour of NZ, with this our middle stop. It was the one i was most looking forward to, and i was not dissappointed. We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed every minute. The cottages are spacious and well appointed, patios with gorgeous water views, big tub and shower, and a fireplace. Very romantic and restful. The staff... More

The manor house is amazing, each guest room is huge with a sitting room by the fireplace and a large bath area...plus it is very quiet. The out door patio is peaceful and lovely place to have an afternoon glass of wine.

This place was not inexpensive but we felt that we got good value for what it cost. Just getting to the location was a thrilling experience (as is most of New Zealand). You drive for miles never seeing another car and end up on a dirt road. Even with a GPS, I was unsure I was in the right place... More
