Lovely stay here. Open fire, lounge, bedroom and bathroom and a lovely hostess. Afternoon tea and breakfast all included, nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended especially for people who want to experience a taste of a bygone era with today's comforts.

It was a 3-day holiday weekend, but we only wanted to get-away for one night. We were very fortunate to find a vacancy at this lovely B&B. We originally were hoping to book the self-contained cottage, but it was booked. Instead, we reserved the ensuite Queen bedroom in its own wing. The room was large and comfortable with a gorgeous...

Our overnight stay after spending the day at the Martinborough Fair. We were treated to afternoon tea on arrival, yummy homemade lemon loaf ( we were given a copy of the recipe on request) and I suspect ( as I was to polite to ask) delicious homemade chutney on the crackers. The fire was lit in our lounge area and...

Had a wonderful couple of days at this wooden castle, which is well placed to explore the Palliser Bay area! Hosts were charming and welcoming in "grandparental" way. We stayed in the main house and room was very comfortable, with the kids loving the trips to feed the "chucks" and playing football and cricket on the lawn.

Our large-ish family group stayed at Whangaimoana for a few nights between Christmas and New Year. We stayed in the house as the cottage was already booked. However, we preferred the house (mansion!) as we had a whole wing & more to ourselves. Alastair & Jacqui Sutherland we really wonderful hosts, especially at such a busy time of the year....

If, like us, you don't go for B&B because of the "living in someone's house aspect" and the possible need to be sociable with the hosts over breakfast - do not hesitate about staying in the wing of this house - its just wonderful !! As the self-contained cottage was not available when we were in the region we decided...

Excellent get away. The brekkie is generous and tasty, the host is great, and the fireplace gets crackin. You can visit the local pig, chickens, ducks, and donkeys on the walk around the grounds. There is also a bath tub good for soaking and some very hot water.

Best B&B I've visited! Highly recommended for everyone. Mrs Sutherland is the most splendid host. Generous serving of cooked breakfast and afternoon tea. Great garden to enjoy a peaceful morning/evening walk with little pig and bossy donkeys as company. Open fire with plenty of fire wood in the lounge is the most enticing way of spending a romantic evening. Location...

Located about 10min drive away from Lake Ferry. Beautiful house/mansion. Well looked after by the host (lovely couple). Lovely and massive garden. Great place to be if you want to get away from the city.

NZ$140 for the best B&B I've experienced, in a stunning, old country mansion, a huge lounge, bedroom & bathroom to ourselves & the hostess kindly doing an afternoon tea with cake - included in cost. The hostess was entertaining & came and lit the fire in our lounge evening & morning. Breakfast was great. Room was wonderful. Great place to...
