Parrot Cay by COMO in the Turks and Caicos is the northern Caribbean’s preeminent private island. It combines nature—1000 unspoilt acres, a mile-long powdered beach—with relaxed luxury and the multi-award-winning COMO Shambhala Retreat, which offers a range of holistic, Asian-inspired therapies as well as yoga and Pilates with world-class tuition. Accommodation, comprising whitewash interiors with chic teak finishing, includes beachside houses and villas. The island also features private residences, offering absolute privacy away from the main resort. The island’s two restaurants serve gourmet and easy dining as well as healthy COMO Shambhala Cuisine. Watersports, diving and island adventures complete the Parrot Cay experience.

We greatly enjoyed our holiday stay at Parrot Cay, a private island resort that is never crowded, not even during Christmas week. There are two stunning saltwater infinity pools overlooking the beach that are usually empty or nearly empty. The sand is soft and white, and the water perfectly clear. The most unusual feature of the resort (as compared with other resorts in the Caribbean) is that the service and food are terrific. The staff at the resort should be commended for making guests feel so relaxed and welcome. Service at the restaurants is fast and friendly, and the menus change so we never got bored even though we stayed 10 nights and there are only 2 restaurants. The waitstaff is among the best I have seen anywhere.
The food and all activities are very expensive, since you are on a private island and everything has to arrive by boat. If you want to do decent snorkeling, you have to rent a boat for 3 hours for just your group, which is of course expensive. We rented a boat to snorkel and fish, which was worthwhile. The crew did a great job and we were able to snorkel at a protected underwater reef.
Bicycles, tennis, and non-motorized watercraft are complimentary, and there was one yoga class per day. This is a quiet place (maybe except for New Year's, which we missed, but a DJ was setting up on the beach and we wished we were staying. We had planned to be in NYC for New Year's but of course omicron blew a large crater in our plans). We enjoyed biking on the flat roads to the pier (6 miles round trip to the further pier).
The best part of the resort is the incredible staff. When no bicycles were available one day, for example, a staff member ran to the closer pier (not so close!), rode one bike back and held the other to bring it back to us! No joke, the staff is that great. Thanks for a great visit.

I visited parrot cay years ago before it was a COMO hotel and sought out the same relaxing, beautiful wellness-oriented experience this year with my husband as we both celebrated our birthdays and our baby moon. The hotel was lovely (a little tired in some places, and lacking in technology as we had a tv with basic cable and weird sound issues which is fine we only used it for news at night), food was delicious, staff was mostly great (some of the staff at the main building restaurant were slow and lacking in information about the food/policies/etc), pool is beautiful and so is beach, though it had eroded quite a bit since my last visit and I missed the beach chairs sitting along the beach as opposed to how they are set up in one specific area now. HOWEVER- we happened to overlap with a company retreat of about 40 people and I would advise anyone to double check that these retreats aren’t happening during your stay (bc a group of 40 is WAY different than 40 individuals or 20 couples). One day as my husband and I sat by the beach watching a beautiful sunset, we were surrounded by at least half of this group who had already been drinking during the day and then continued to drink at the beach bar, being extremely loud, and then doing rounds of shots. They then filtered over to the beach restaurant where many guests around me also complained of their noise and behavior. The next day the resort helped them set up and complete some sort of race that resulted in groups running around the island yelling, stopping at the beach bar to make MORE cocktails, and a private lunch right behind the pool with speeches, cheering, and more loud conversation. I love a good time and understand how these groups work, but when you come to parrot cay (and are footing your own bill as opposed to your company footing it) you come for the ambiance, the experience, the peace and quiet and relaxation, and understand what the guests around you are also looking for and are very respectful of that. We felt slightly betrayed by the resort in allowing such a group to come behave in such a way during the span of our stay. It was disappointing to have to plan our day attempting to avoid this group (though we couldn’t as the resort facilitated so much) and I would advise anyone looking for what we were looking for to make sure to avoid dates with big groups.

Aside from this part of our trip (which I hate to even mention but I think it’s important learning for the resort and warning for other guests), we loved the experience, used the spa every day, enjoyed the food, and of course reveled in the beauty of the property. We will be back, just not with a company retreat...

I just arrived home from my first trip to Como Parrot Cay. A good friend of mine booked the resort because she's been there several times before and it's her favorite place. I can see why!

From the moment I walked out of the airport and climbed inside my private black suburban, I was whisked away into paradise! Every staff member I came in contact with engaged in thoughtful conversation and made sure to meet all of my needs and more. Rarely did I have to ask for something because they were prompt to inquire before the need arose.

The resort was at 90 % capacity and it felt like we were one of the few people there. We were always able to get a dinner reservation at our requested time, and scheduled plenty of spa treatments. Going to this resort and not experiencing the spa is like going to Paris and not seeing the Eiffel Tower. Do not miss it! It was by far my favorite part! We watched the sun set from several different locations, enjoyed the hot tub at the spa until late in the evening before dinner, and loved the ambience of the entire property!

From the breathtaking room, numerous freshly laundered bathrobes, and the most comfortable lounge chairs to soak up the sun made this the most relaxing vacation I've ever experienced.

The food was delicious and unique. I indulged in healthy options as well as the chocolate croissants! :) I couldn't resist!

If you value privacy, luxury, and the best of all things ....you will not be disappointed.

First off, the beach and private location is wonderful. The water and long stretch of beach is absolutely stunning. If money is of no concern, stay in a private beach front villa and you will receive the appropriate service and attention. You’ll be happy. If this is a trip of a lifetime or once in a 10 year type of experience, keep reading….

Our total stay for 3 nights was well over $6.5K (including food and drinks). We stayed in a garden view room. The shower had dirt/mildew on the floor. The toilet paper holder kept falling off the wall. Bathrooms desperately need updating. Chocolate covered strawberries were provided upon arrival, which is lovely, except they were in a closed box that wasn’t pointed out or ever opened. We didn’t notice them until we started to smell the mold and opened the box 3 days later. Their concession was to offer chocolate covered strawberries as we were walking out the door… Not quite the same at that point. Our travel agent told them it was our 20th anniversary. There was no mention of it here, except “happy anniversary” when we arrived. Maybe silly of me, but thought they might help us celebrate with something special. (Mexico resorts always do btw). Breakfast was sub par. Staff at the beach was very friendly, but dinner staff at The Terrace was rude. 1 of the 3 dinners was wonderful. The other 2 were average… well, below average considering we paid over $300 for each. My husband doesn’t drink wine, so I always buy by the glass. There are 3 choices for white wine by the glass for the entire resort. I kind of liked one of them but at $20/glass, I’d prefer to thoroughly enjoy.

Again, if this is a typical trip you take often, you’ll be fine. If this is something you really want to be special, look elsewhere. We stayed at Grace Bay Club for 3 nights before this. Not private like Parrot Cay, but great restaurants and very personalized service… for what it’s worth.

We spent 5 nights in a one bedroom beach house at Parrot Cay resort. We arrived at the airport where we were met by our driver to take us to the boat that would take us to the resort. The driver of the SUV had no air conditioning in his vehicle. The transportation was arranged by the hotel for 198.00 per person. We then were taken to the dock and boarded a large old diesel boat that was very smelly and took about 1/2 hour. Then we had a 3 mile trek on an old golf cart to get to our room. The room was fine but very old and not up to date with the price we were paying. $4000.00 a night before taxes and fees. We have stayed in beach resorts all over the world and do not mind paying the price for luxury. This room was so not LUXURY! We ended up calling it the shack on the beach. We were told there were 3 restaurants on property but nobody bothered to tell us that only one would be open each night. My husband has food allergies so I had called the resort weeks before to make sure they could accomodate him. The food was not good and the choices were very diffcult for him to eat. He ended up ordering from the children's room service menu most nights. The help is fine but not very friendly and nobody except Shirley the Assistant General Manage bothered to try and help us. Also the food prices were very expensive. Again we wouldn't mind paying if the food was good. We were stuck on property because to go anywhere you have to charter a boat to get back to town. We knew this ahead of time but were not concerned because they told us 3 restaurants were available.I enjoy working out in a great gym but the gym there was filthy dirty. Good equipment but the floor and machines were dirty. I was in there one day and then I could not bring myself to go back again. One day I complained to someone on property and he said he would call the spa but nobody ever responded. All in all a beautiful piece of property that needs a major redo.

We have just returned from 6 nights at Como Parrot Cay. We had been to Turks and Caicos before but never this property. From the moment we disembarked in Providenciales, Como staff was waiting after we got our bags to help us and bring us to our transportation to take us to the boat to Parrot Cay. Everyone was so courteous. When we arrived at Parrot Cay we were greeted by one of the managers who drove us to the property. Our room was an ocean view one with a balcony. Rooms are spacious and lovely. The beach staff is amazing. Elroy, Harry, Vasko, D and Yoga attended to everyone on the beach with such efficiency and kindness. They made every guest feel special. The beach bar has a great vibe and excellent food. Breakfast was included and amazing. Dinner at Lotus was fabulous each night with the menu changing nightly. Lots of activities and excursions if one wants to do different activities each day. We ran every day along a beautiful path. The water is the most amazing color and sunsets are perfectly viewed in the big chairs by the bar. It was heavenly. Thank you Como for making our first trip in quite a while a very special one! We will be back!

We spent a week at Parrot Cay and never wanted to leave. This private island has stunning views, perfect white sandy beaches and modern touches to its facilities. Amazing spa - get the signature massage or bath. But what really sets Parrot Cay apart is the staff… The pool staff (aka VASKO) made sure every day was perfect and we couldn’t want for anything. The activity staff (aka ERNACIO) made sailing, paddle boarding, etc - so fun but also a great learning experience! And finally, big thanks to the management team who went out of their way to ensure our privacy and comfort was an utmost priority. Perfect holiday - can’t wait to come back!!

After booking through Amex travel, we were upgraded to a private villa with butler service. And while the resort was absolutely gorgeous, luxurious, and relaxing, it was our time with Sha that we will truly treasure!

We were there in October of 2018, just a bit before the season started, so there was only one restaurant open per meal. But the food was delicious, I still remember the conch fritters at the bar on the beach. Even the room service was wonderfully presented and delicious.

Our outings to jet ski around the keys or a snorkel trip were wonderful, and Sha was always ready to pick us up in his golf cart and get us where we needed to go. We also enjoyed a couples hot stone massage at the spa, and two snorkel trips from the resort.

Sha took such good care of us, we felt truly pampered. It was such a wonderful treat and I can't wait to go back!

From the moment we stepped out of customs our trip to Como Parrot Cay was idyllic. The gentleman that greeted/escorted us to the private car was delightful. The boat house where we waited for our private boat trip to the island was beautifully decorated and stocked with champagne, beer, snacks and tea. Highlights of our trip included a spectacular visit to the Shambala Spa - don't miss this, days by the pool sipping cocktails, sunset beach walks and shelling. The property was quiet, very well kept and every one of our needs was met. The food was delicious (a bit expensive but to be expected given that we were on a private island), the drink menus were extensive as were the healthy options. It was wonderful to leave a vacation and not feel like we over ate!

We did not get a chance to do any excursions or explore the island because we enjoyed the pool and the beach so much. We definitely plan to do those next time as the small dock where the excursions depart from is just beautiful!! We only saw it as we were departing but wish we had spent more time there paddle boarding, etc.

We met other wonderful guests who we plan to stay in touch with. Thank you for an amazing way to celebrate our 10th anniversary - we will most certainly be back!

Stayed in a 2 bedroom beach house featuring great privacy and a spectacular beach just outside our door. The pool at this Villa had been recently enlarged and it was really nice. I spent a lot of time using one of the floating beds looking up at the stars at night. We did not leave the Villa much as it was just so nice except to get in the ocean and walk the beach. Again the privacy these units offer is really superb even though the resort was pretty much sold out we rarely saw anyone on our part of the beach. It was just what we needed as I had been suffering from some medical issues. It was the perfect place to rest and heal.

The food as to be expected at a Como property was really good. The breakfast that came with our stay was immense and always good. You could order off the menu or get what you wanted from what was laid out or both. The food is a bit pricey but nothing out of the ordinary for a 5 star resort. We also had spa treatments which my wife thought were really really good. You really should get at least 1 massage if you are staying here. I had 2 and loved them both. I would suggest they look at the men's locker room to get an upgrade/renovation though as it was not quite on par with the rest of the resort. Nothing bad just not as nice a hard product as the rest of the gorgeous resort.

You take a speed boat that is about 25 minutes to access Parrot Cay. The upside is no one is on property that is not a guest. The downside is unless you charter their boat you are stuck on Parrot Cay. We only stayed 4 nights so this was not a problem but something to think about for longer stays.

Overall if you are looking for a high end resort that is very laid back and has a great beach Como T&C is hard to beat. It is truly a spectacular location. The color of the water was stunning and the sand super soft. I would certainly recommend it for people looking for a quieter, peaceful vacation away from the crowds of resorts on top of resorts on T&C's other famous beaches. The staff overall was very friendly as well.

We visited in November 2021 and once we took the boat out to the resort, there was no requirement to wear a mask. It felt very safe and you wouldn't actually think that Covid was in existence! It was a total escape from the pandemic.
