We just had a fantastic two night stay at East Bay Resort and wished we could stay two more. The resort is situated on a magnificent stretch of beach in a calm cove on an otherwise rugged island. The rooms have everything you need, even laundry machine and dishwasher. Bert, the resorts’s manager, was simply fantastic. He was great company and went above and beyond to make sure we had a fantastic time. The food was great—full breakfast included and other meals available at reasonable prices. I would highly recommend doing both the boat tour and the island tour. Between the two you can get a good feel for South Caicos by land and sea. Lastly, don’t hesitate to walk into town from the resort. It’s not hard to strike up a conversation with a local and learn a few things about the amazing space you are visiting. As a side note, we’ve been visiting TCI for years and regret not going to South Caicos sooner. It’s a great antidote to the busyness and commercialism of Provo in particular. You can’t go wrong at East Bay, particularly as the only other options are a basic place not on the beach and a very chichi place on a suboptimal part of the island.

We absolutely loved our stay here. Bert and all the staff were wonderful. We forgot to get cash and they were able to do a cash advance as a room charge. They also managed to pull together a cake and sang happy birthday to our son. The excursions team was wonderful as well and the adventures were very fun. Our son loved the Iguanas so much, we had to go back twice. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the food was great. The only real complaints we had were there is no kids menu so our son had to get adult sized portions and a changing menu would be nice as well. However, during our stay in the islands it seemed like many places were still having supply chain issues and we definitely understand that and won't hold it against them. Keep in mind, South Caicos isn't built up for tourism like Provo, it is definitely a place to just chill and relax, which is exactly what we were looking for. We would definitely stay again!

This was our first vacation post-COVID and it was the perfect choice as we practically had the resort to ourselves! We felt very safe and like we truly escaped to paradise. Bert and his team at East Bay Resort are amazing, they make super friendly and are there to please. For example, I somehow forgot the contact lenses I had just purchased for this trip at home and when I asked Bert if there was a way to get contacts from Provo delivered, he offered to do it himself since he was planning a trip to Provo for the day! What a life-saver that was! I wouldn't have been able to snorkel my last day without him/them! The resort is only a 5-minute ride into the town and they offer free shuttle services which is very convenient if you want to pick up some groceries or use the only ATM machine on the island! The rooms were spacious with beautiful views of the ocean, quiet with very comfortable beds and Wifi was strong throughout the resort (except for right on the beach, which is expected), For meals, the BLU restaurant on site offered enough variety and the food was great (highly recommend the conch ceviche at dinner and tacos at lunch). Service was very friendly and efficient. They offer food/drinks to takeaway as well if you prefer to eat at the beach/pool or in your room. Off-property options are Triple J's (a must do - the best BBQ experience) and Sunset Cafe (Darryl is a great host). The hotel arranges for transportation so don't worry if you don't have a car. We checked out the 5 star Sail Rock resort for lunch and dinner during our stay, however it is more remote than East bay and an arduous, bumpy, dusty ride to get there via car or bike. We biked there once (about a 45 minute ride) and saw a few donkeys but no cars or people on the way! We ended up with a flat tire before our return home but luckily the Sail Rock staff pumped up our tire and it miraculously held for the trip back to the hotel. The bikes, as many have mentioned, are in need of replacement but thankfully they got us around safely. If you're trying to decide between the 2 resorts, I would say definitely pick East Bay unless a 5 star luxury, pampering chic locale is a must (which you can do on Provo without the extra flight). East Bay is the perfect place to let your hair down, be in tune with nature and be put at ease by the locals, which is why we picked South Caicos as a destination in the first place. In terms of activities, snorkeling, kayaking, paddle boarding and tennis are all available and complimentary but some of the equipment could use a refresh (e.g. 2 person kayak is really a one person kayak and paddleboard paddles are too short). We experienced some of the best snorkeling at a couple of the reefs right of off the beach near the resort, where (depending on the tides) the water is never very deep. Ask Matteo, the head of the dive school or the beach staff to point you to exactly where the natural reef is as it took us a couple of tries to find it. We also went on the Long Cay tour with Willis and two other couples and had a great afternoon, snorkeling, feeding the iguanas and seeing huge starfish. Willis has a wealth of knowledge and is extremely patient and flexible. He even kept us out extra time as he loves being out on the water and pleasing his guests! The beach staff are very helpful and friendly. Shout out to Lincoln, who showed us how conch are taken out of their shell and who prepared his special conch ceviche for us one afternoon. We also rented a Jeep one day from Carla in town and had a wonderful experience driving up to the north part of the island, exploring near the Coast Guard station and Jerry's Camp where we saw amazing views, snorkeled (saw barracuda and shark!) and kayaked and barely saw another person! We also had a great couples massage in one of the beachside gazebos and they were fabulous. One of us appreciates and requested a deep tissue massage and that's what was provided in spades! The other went for a more traditional swedish massage which was perfect too. Overall, if you are looking for a place to get away from it all, relax and experience all of South Caicos, East Bay is the place to be. It is laid back and the food, service, sufficient amenities are all there. Bert is the most present, patient, accommodating and friendly hotel manager we have ever met and his priority on friendly customer service extends to all the staff he hires. We miss East Bay and wish we were there again! We made friends among the other guests too which made it even more fun! P.S. The room and resort were very clean except the floor in our room was dusty. The resort was just reopening from COVID and perhaps the house-keeping missed re-mopping the floors. When we brought it to their attention they took care of it right away and the head of housekeeping asked for the floors to be mopped twice!

Great spot for getting away from the rat race. Staff are exceptional. Still plenty to do like scuba diving, snorkeling, visiting starfish alley! Dont expect a lot of shopping though, just a few items from the local shops is about all you'll need..
