#1 of 2 hotels in Middle Caicos
Dragon Cay Resort (Formerly Blue Horizon Resort) is a unique tropical destination tucked behind 2,200 feet of naturally preserved beachfront on Middle Caicos, the largest but least developed of the eight inhabited islands in The Turks & Caicos Islands. When you stay at one of the private Cottages or Villas at Dragon Cay Resort, you will be immersed in a privacy and tranquility not common in today’s Caribbean Resort landscapes. The natural beauty of Mudjin Harbor will bring you to a place of utter relaxation, while the adventurous environment, recreational activities and local culture keep you entertained and active. Worth so much more that a day trip!

Dragon Cay is a great resort with spectacular views!! We stayed in the Solstice villa and it was wonderful! Middle Caicos is beautiful and unspoiled and I considered it the Wild West of the Caribbean as it was so isolated. Just remember your mosquito spray as the mosquito's are vicious!

Thank you for your wonderful review. We agree this is the ideal destination for those really seeking to get back to nature. Sorry to hear you encountered some nasty mosquitos. We do regular fogging at the resort but there are areas off the beaten path that will continue to have problems with mosquitoes. We do provide insect repellent to our guests and that is usually is a good deterrent. We hope very much you will come back and stay with again soon.

We enjoyed every minute of our stay here. Having researched our destination, we knew to purchase groceries in Provo as grocery and restaurant options are limited on North and Middle Caicos. The kitchenette was adequately stocked with the basics for food prep. Our cottage (Sunrise) was very clean and comfortable with beautiful views of the harbor; nothing fancy, keep in mind. But we came for the island, not a fancy hotel! We are pretty self sufficient people, so didn't need housekeeping for our 5 day stay, but Demara was a lovely on site concierge for our few needs. This place is a hidden gem..truly a getaway from the hustle and bustle of home as well as what you'd find in Provo. We explored empty beaches up and down the coast, enjoyed lunch at Mudjin Grille when we weren't otherwise out exploring, dinners at a few places on N. Caicos, and breakfast in our own lovely little cottage. I was not disappointed and I would stay here again!

We stayed in sunrise cabin. Beautiful romantic cabin where we could watch the stars at night over the beach, moon lighting the beach and sunrise in blissful solitude. Good service by the resort staff. There is a tunnel down to a private beach. There is a beautiful beach down by the mujdin grill. Specially there is a corner area where waves from two different angles crash on each other. We had the entire white sand beach to ourself. Very romantic place for couples. I would go there again. Please know that there is is no restaurant for dinner. So carry food if you are going to reach after the mujdin grill closes at 3 pm.

Traveled by ferry to Middle Caicos for a day excursion from Provo. We rented a car, drove to the caves for a tour and then on to Dragon Cay for lunch. We were not sure what we would find upon arrival; we were completely wow'd by the view from the restaurant/bar. It is gorgeous with a beautiful uninhabited beach (lots of sea glass) and some walking trails. We all enjoyed our lunch (seating outside under umbrellas or inside). There is also a full bar for drinks. A few of our group of 7 said that they had no interest in going anywhere else and would spend the day here alone. A few of us went down the road to another beach but made sure to come back before 3PM to have a cocktail before they closed. Amazing view, lovely staff. Didn't see the interior of the cabins but the view made the excursion memorable.

This is not a resort it’s a cabin on a bluff. Views are very special. People are nice but they have nothing I mean nothing.. I asked for Ice, a cup of coffee, bottle of water...Nothing... head to the store 10 miles away if you need anything. We planed a day of fishing with the manager only to find he did not have his work permit and immigration forced us back to the cabin to check paperwork. Talk about stress the immigration office questioned me like I was a criminal just for being with the manager. So my day was shot. There is a restaurant on property only open when they feel like it. Mostly lunch only. If you come you better bring all you groceries etc. I think you would be better off renting a house. That’s what I did as of this morning. Oh there is no pool and you better be able to climb to get to the beaches.

Response from DragonCayResort, Manager at Dragon Cay Resort

It's disappointing to us that this guest didn't enjoy their stay and for that we apologize. Dragon Cay is a group of privately-owned cottages & villas on Middle Caicos just a few yards down our paved path to the gorgeous Mudjin Harbor coastline & beach. We typically provide 2 gallons of water with each stay (more available upon request) as the main source of water on Middle and North Caicos is collected and filtered rain water. This water is fine for cooking and making ice, but is not always recommended as your main consumption source. Each cottage/villa comes with a full size kitchen including a coffee maker w/ coffee stocked in each house, (if you need more we will be happy to provide). We do however recommend doing some grocery shopping on Provo if a variety of fresh produce and meats are important. It's tough for the local stores to keep everything stocked without it spoiling, so it's mostly items that have a longer shelf life as you can imagine. Our Mudjin Bar and Grill is located right on the beach overlooking the beautiful Dragon. It is open from 11:00AM to 4:00PM seven days and week and stays open later for dinner on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Closing time on those dinner days depends on the amount of reservations made, but typically it extends to 6PM. If you plan on spending you day at Bambara Beach, Conch Bar Caves or any other of our local sites you can always call ahead and have dinner brought up to your room prior to closing. You can contact the restaurant anytime at 649-946-6141. We hope this clears up some of the confusion and feel free to contact us at rentals@dragoncayresort.com if you have any questions or concerns.
