Warm welcome, good, home cooked food, friendly staff, excellent value, wonderful, tasteful renovation of a 400+ year old premises with large, well appointed rooms and en suites. Oh yes, great selection of whiskies too. Will definitely use again.

First impressions were not good, the hotel car park is a bit of a mess and the rear of the premises are untidy. However, once we were in the hotel everything changed. We had a friendly welcome at reception and were quickly checked in. Our room was on the first floor overlooking the car park. The room was large, with... More

What establishment in the business of calling itself a hotel serves instant coffee with your breakfast? The car park was near derelict, the hall smelt of mould, our room was still in the process of being renovated, and the evening meal gave me the squits. Apart from that the staff were very friendly. Ecclefechan was dead still. Pretty grim overall

We stayed one night on our way up to the highlands and it was great. Lovely rooms very modern which is a nice suprise as its a listed building so it does not give out the appearance within. Very friendly family run hotel. The meals were good but the breakfast is the star complete with haggis. The owner is very... More

Booked this hotel as a stopover on a long journey to the Western Isles. First impressions were not good, an unkempt car park and very dismal corridor past the pub toilets to reception. Once inside it was a lot better. We received a warm welcome and the room was recently refurbished and very clean and comfortable. There is a bar... More

Joe, Mary and Steve always give guests a warm welcome and nothing is too much trouble for them. The food is delicious and the newly renovated rooms are of an exceptional high standard. It is always pleasure to stay at this 'home' from 'home'.

I booked this hotel last minute as a stop gap for a journey from Morayshire to Gloucestershire. When I first arrived in the car park and walked through the back of the hotel to reception I thought I had made a very bad choice as it was very shabby....but how pleasantly surprised I was when we saw our room it... We stopped here for B&B when travelling from Buckinghamshire to Lossiemouth (on the Moray coast). The hotel offers very comfortable rooms of a first class standard,& has the advantage of being pet friendly (we own a small dog).Food is excellent-whether you want a meal in the evening,or a very good breakfast. The host displays all the bluff friendliness that you would...
