This was my third time in this charming hostel, that I use as starting/endpoint for hiking tours in the surronding mountains. The hostel used to be a hotel some decades ago and still has maintained some of that atmosphere. There is no nighlife in Sent, but there is a pool table at the hostel. Wifi works on the ground floor and possibly the first floor. Staff at the reception are easy going and if you ask, you can use the kitchen to cook your own meal in the evening. Breakfast was good with swiss cheese, local bread and good coffee.

Yes Sent is awesome, but I would not describe my stay at the BP Swissroof as that. I stayed in a dorm room, not the one shown in pictures online. It was ugly and drab, I was ok with that but upon return to my room after having to use the bathroom very early in the am I was shocked to discover bedbugs in my sleep sack and I had several bites. I literally fled the place in horror. The beautiful deck was not too comfortable and the whole place reminded me off visiting a not too clean home. I had paid for 2 nights in advance unusual for switzerland. They will not refund the second night and `i have yet to get any response. A big thumbs down for this dump. Would love to own the place and gut as it is in a truly beautiful and remarkable location.

I read the first review "absolutely awesome", i found it very very dubious, like an advert, so i decided to write my own. First the village of Sent, WONDERFUL place, full of character, Romansch language everywhere, beautiful old stylish houses, and as for the location, overlooking the Engadin mountains opposite, superb, well, "absoloutely awesome is not a phrase i would personally use for a hostel, unless it was 20 story with 100 bedrooms. To reach Sent you take the hourly post bus from Scuol Tarasp, that links up with incoming trains from Chur/Landequart. Well the village is , well, breathtaking, but seems to have been a bit overtaken by German and Austrians. There is quite a few oldies there too. Swissroof is an old hotel, that has been converrted to backpackers. All the rooms have low doors, unusual shapes, typical of old country houses everywhere in the world. There seems to be a few private rooms , more pricey on the first leverl, but the backpackers bunk room, is on the lower lower level , -2, consisting of a double bed and 3 double bunks. The lower downstairs is a sort of cellar, old , a little decrepit, but interesting. I stayed in April and there were no other guests in the backpackers' room, so i slept in the double bed. The bedding is a duvet, it is cold at night up in the Engadin mountains of Sent, I could not work out how to close the shutters. But the night was very very silent and dark and all this guaranteed a good sleep ! The breakfast was not a typical German / Swiss one, it was uniquely sweet, bread, muesli, yoghurt, coffeee from one of those coffee machine that grinds the beans, a choice of teas, but none of the traditional cheese or hams. Swissroof was in nice location, ok breakfast, peaceful, all the foreign tourists are all in Interlakn, Zermall and Lucerne, they never go to Engadin ! The hostel is located next to Sent church, that has a very high tower so is easy to spot. The restaurant next door is very impressive, huge Engadin sized portions well prepared

We planed to stay at the Swissroof Backpacker Hotel for one or two nights. But the atmosphere in the hostel was just amazing. We had a really good time there. It's a place to relax in a typically old Swiss mountain village in a beautiful nature surrounding. There is so much things to do and see: hiking in the Swiss National Park, mountain biking, even lift supported downhill biking, river rafting, the spa in Scuol... After the daily activities it was always great to socialize in the hostel with all kind of interesting guests and to hang out on the sunny terrace for a bbq, or just relax in one of the hammocks on the upper deck. There is also a fully equipped huge guest’s kitchen. After a whole week at this unique place we were sad having to leave this very friendly place. We will be back soon!!
