I prepaid a stay at this hotel to attend a science congress in September. I cancelled my reservation in March of this year (2022) and asked for a refund. The hotel asked for wire transfer instructions from my bank, which I provided he following day. Yet, 14 Emails and 6 months later, there has been no refund and no response. The hotel is basically ignoring me despite the Chairman of the scientific congress also trying to intercede on my behalf.
Been there in august 2021. Lots of insects found in rooms and restaurant (I am Portuguese and used to insects in the country but it was not acceptable. Holes in towels not acceptable for a 4 star establishment. Baby bed not in room while requested and confirmed by establishment. As we were with young kids, we used a lot the room service for food, systematically beverage or food were forgotten and we had to wait again at least 20 min for it, complicated when it is kids food. Breakfast indicated at 7am on documents but finally opens only at 8 am, when you are with kids it is complicated to have them wait half an hour at the breakfast door. Swimming pools are good with kids pool for toddlers. Good point. Pleasant breakfast with variety of choices but tableware often dirty. Staff not really friendly or client oriented in general. However our worst experience was with sunbeds at the beach, the establishment offers a service of sunbeds through a beachclub partnership if availability, you pay at the hotel and then you go the beach (30€ for 2 sunbeds and a sun umbrella). We were really happy with this proposal for our kids of 2 years and half and 6 months old. Indication to get to the beachclub were poor, spent more than 30 minutes looking for the right beachclub (name of the beachclub not provided even through the phone when looking for it). Once we finally get there, we are informed that they do overbooking and even with a booking from the hotel, they did not have sunbeds for us. After calling the hotel, they said that they could not do anything for us. We had to negotiate with the beachclub directly in order to have a table with sofas on the same beachclub in order to be able to offer some shadow to our kids but we had to pay 100€ against the 30€ initially paid. This was totally unacceptable from the hotel and the service they should provide. We did not try golf and do not provide any opinion on that. The hotel is nice but the cleanliness and service is not up to its ranking as a 4 star. Due to our experience i will not return there.…
In all my years staying at hotels I have never seen worst customer service than I have at Aldeia dos Capuchos Golf & Spa. I arrived there after a long journey. At check in I proceeded to pay for the stay, I thought at the time that it was more expensive than what I had booked for but not being sure I thought I would give the hotel the benefit of the doubt and check my original booking later. Upon checking I discovered i had indeed been over charged - not by a huge amount something like €30 or €40. So i returned to reception during my stay and politely indicated that I had been over charged and if they could refund it. I watched for 15 minutes while the confused receptionist went from one computer (looking at what i had paid) to another computer (looking at my original booking) and couldnt understand how / why i had been over charged. It was taking so long for them to look into this that my uber into the city arrived and I had to leave. They had said they would get it sorted. Another few days passed and it was the last day of my stay. I checked out early in the morning and mentioned that the over charging issue had not been resolved. I was told that the reception staff dealing with it was due to arrive in later and would be resolving it. Needless to say it hadn't been resolved. I then emailed the hotel and this was when it started getting really bizarre. They asked me for the paper copy of the invoice to enable this refund. I told them that I didn't have the paper copy of the invoice but i had the email of my original booking and also evidence of the amount of what i paid to enable them to make the refund. Many emails went back and forth and then they asked me for credit card details to make the refund to (even though they should have had that on their records as i made the payment with it). More emails went back and forth and they said that the credit details were invalid and they could not issue a refund. I double checked with my bank and got confirmation the details were correct and i went back with all details they could possibly need (IBAN etc) and also an alternative method - Revolut. They came back again and said they had tried to issue a refund but details were invalid. I know for a fact the details were invalid. They clearly were just trying to avoid payment here. Further emails i sent to them were just ignored. Unfortunately I have now given up on them getting back to me and doing the right thing so they have won but I would like to warn other prospective travellers of my experience. If anyone makes the bad mistake of booking a stay with this hotel, please ensure you check what you are charged as I have no doubt they have been doing this with other guests. Location - Also not great with poor transport links into Lisbon. Each Uber / taxi will cost you €15 to get into main part of Lisbon. Golf Course - They advertise golf lessons as it is a tourist attraction. Ask for a picture of where you will have the lessons and decide if you still want to go on it. Food - To be fair the food and catering service was ok and the restaurant staff were pleasant. If it wasn't for my experience of the reception staff I would have considered giving a better rating. Reception staff - Never seen worse in all my years staying at hotels and i stay in hotels quite a lot as part of my work. I sent a lot of emails to Flavia, Rita and Ines on the issue of being over charged. Their lack of customer service and communication skills unfortunately prevented them from taking ownership of the issue and I fear that I am not the only guest who has suffered from the poor quality customer service.…
Booked 2 rooms for my family holiday here about 6 weeks ago. 4 days prior to our planned arrival we get a message saying the the hotel will be closed due to "refurbishment work" and our booking is cancelled. Really? - who plans a hotel refurbishment at 4 days notice ? (especially knowing you have guests booked in who you'll need to cancel). Maybe they had low occupancy for the period of our planned stay & didn't feel it worthwhile opening for us, we'll never know of course. The worst of it was they offered to transfer our booking to other hotels at the "same price" which we at first thought was decent gesture to try minimise the impact on our plans they had caused. However when we looked at these options we discovered we could in fact book them cheaper ourselves! So effectively they would be making a profit on our booking despite having thrown our travel plans into disarray at the last minute by their decision to close. It may be a good hotel (we'll never know) but the disregard for customers is appalling.…
The only good thing was the breakfast but even that they had little offer for vegans and lactose intolerants. The photos show very nice rooms but that did not correspond to reality. Rooms have damaged furniture and the tv had very bad quality. On the spa the Turkish bath wasn’t working and when we called before booking the night before asking about the spa services and they didn’t mention that. We needed swimming caps to the spa area otherwise we wouldn’t be able to go in and we bought them just to see most people using the facilities without it. Just the overall look of the hotel, from the picture it really looks like a paradise and when you get there, not so much.
Don´t be fooled by the aspect from outside, this hotel is much better once you get in. It looks modern, clean and sleek. As the hotel is located on a hill, It´s worth getting a room with a view, overlooking the golf course, the Costa de Caparica resort and the coast: beautiful sunsets guaranteed. Location is a bit unusual: Aldea dos Capuchos is in the outskirts of the Portuguese capital, but a bit away from the beach too. Costa de Caparica is a very popular beach, and it can become too crowded at times. There´s a short drive -one kilometre or so, maybe less- to Costa de Caparica beach, but I don´t remember seeing any pedestrian path, the only option I saw was using the motorway. The distance is quite short, anyway. The swimming pool is ok, and very clean. Beds are comfortable and bathrooms are simple but impeccable clean. Breakfast was ok too.…
Stayed two nights in a Junior Suite at Aldeia dos Capuchos Hotel in Caparica after a 12 hour flight from San Francisco to Lisbon. Very relaxing setting adjacent to their golf course and wellness center. Added “half board” for meals for 40 euros for two people which included dinner and breakfast which was served cafeteria style. Modern building with all the amenities of a four star hotel including a nice outdoor pool. Staff was gracious and our room was clean. Our Junior Suite #518 included a kitchen, living area, separate bedroom, quick WiFi and view of the golf course. The property’s remote setting gave us a retreat feeling that we were in the county and let close to Lisbon.
Very nice hotel with excellent facilities that help you get away from the day to day rumble, staff was very welcoming and friendly. Recommend the place for a relaxing break. All the meals were excellent.
Comfortable and quiet room Book a room with sea view Empathic hotel staff and professional Good free wifi Cleaning is okey but not excellent Very good breakfast Good outdoor pool Good indoor pool Well equipped fitness Center but unfriendly staff Prices might are a bit too expensive
Spent eight days in a hotel. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Hotel is very clean and safety measures are implemented and enforced. Gym and spa are very well equiped and very clean. Strongly recommended
