This beautiful chalet was the highlight of our trip - if we had known how perfect it was we would have stayed at least three nights. The house is the perfect mix of old and new, with a lovely remodel of a very old home. Every detail of the home and room is very carefully designed, with a lovely modern sitting room, lofted bedroom with very comfy bed and huge rainshower (I didn't want to get out). Evi is an amazing hostess and very attentive to all your needs. You must east dinner here! Her cooking is fabulous and very reasonable. And the breakfast is also fabulous. It's a quick drive to Lago di Braies and many other sights to see. We will be back!
This place is set in the most stunning setting and really is a beautiful house but unfortunately that’s where our positive experience stopped. We stayed in a superior suite and Although costing us 300 euro for one night there are no coffee or tea facilities in the rooms. When we asked to get some coffee and tea as we had to get up early we got told that breakfast is only 8.30am. So we had to go and work (we are photographers) without coffee as there is nothing else open in the middle of the mountains. When we got back in the morning we were looking forward to warming our cold bodies in the Sauna that they advertise online, just to be told by the owner that the sauna is only open from 5pm - 8pm. When we pointed out that this is a little misleading as the website doesn’t mention this restriction she continued with a very unfriendly manor explaining only a crazy person would try and go into the sauna in the morning. We didn’t discuss it further and somewhat disappointed went to our room to have at least a hot shower. The shower wasn’t working at all when other people had a shower at the same time and when pointing that out they finally went and switched the line open so we could have a shower. Check out is at 10 but the cleaner was waiting in front of our door at 9.30am as she wanted to clean the room. I travel a lot for work and never had to leave a bad review but due to the reactions and rudeness of the staff I just felt the need to say something as I would not have booked this expensive hotel had i known that there is no coffee and tea facility in the room, Sauna access only 3 hours of the day and no hot shower in the rooms unless asked for.…
Evie is a wonderful hostess and even better cook but those are just the beginning of our raves about this unique mixture of mountain retreat, spa, B&B and gourmet dining experience. Silentium is the perfect base to explore the South Tyrolean/northern Dolomites region of Italy which feels distinctly more German than Italian. Drive down the hill to explore the nearby villages or just hang out and enjoy the solitude, sauna and wonderful views.
Stayed at Silentium with a group of friends who were mountain biking in this beautiful area of the South Tyrol. It’s the perfect place for peace and relaxation. Evie was wonderful hospitable and consistently exceeded our expectations. The accommodation was beautiful and a little bit quirky and must be so cosy in winter but we had lovely sunshine on the rolling hills and pink mountains. Loved the freshness of the food and mountain water and especially the snacks every afternoon. Cannot say enough how much we enjoyed our stay.
Silentium is such a truly special place - we’ve visited several times in summer, fall, and winter, and each each season offers its own advantages. Skiing, hiking, or just relaxing with a book - it’s paradise. Evi is an outstanding host and makes some incredible pasta and meat dishes, delicious breakfast, and afternoon snacks. The chalet has been beautifully restored and the rooms are very comfortable. Wonderful!
I visited silentium with 2 friends over easter and it is a perfect place if you want to enjoy the Dolomites, some relaxation and good food. The rooms are cozy and nice and the selfmade tea and little river kneipp just complete the sauna experiences you can have here. Homemade dinner and breakfast using local products and nice talks with the owner completed our stay
Another couple and my husband and I stayed at the Silentium for five days and it was one of the best experiences we have had in Europe. Our hostess, Evi, was incredibly gracious and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy both the serenity of her mountain retreat and the surrounding area. Everything from the wonderful breakfasts, to the beautiful rooms, the sauna, the home made dinners, and the wonderful setting was the best. We had great hikes, bike rides, and rode the train all over South Tyrol. This location was perfect for exploring the Dolomites. We will definitely be going back to see Evi and Freidrich!
From the minute we drove up to Silentium to the minute we left, this proved an excellent choice as base for any activities in the Dolomites/South Tyrol. We were greeted by Evi who proved the perfect host during our stay, even bringing out her guitar for a singalong one evening! The accommodation was perfect, the morning view breathtaking and Evi had plenty of suggestions for hikes, day excursions. After driving there from Venice (the route through Cortina and Dolomites was beautiful), we were welcomed with food and drink after a relaxing sauna. Next day we did short 4 - 5 mile hike on Evi's recommendation to a restaurant at Walde Alm. Great hike and food and atmosphere at the restaurant was great. All meals at Silentium were prepared by Evi and whether breakfast, afternoon tea or dinner were all delicious ( need Evi to share her Lasagne recipe!). Good wine available each night too! Travel in the region was made easy as Evi supplied the four of us with a free travel card valid for one week on trains and buses in South Tyrol. Again on her recommendation, we rented bicycles locally and rode to Lienz in Austria. Mostly flat terrain so easy ride and beautiful countryside. Then we rode train back to our car ( note that Austria train part has to be paid for but once back in Italy the travel card is valid). We had many relaxing days playing cards outside the sauna looking across the valley at the beautiful view. On occasion, Friedrich, co owner would set up a wood fire to keep us warm as the weather cooled ( thanks to him!). It was an easy drive from Silentium to Tre Cime/Monte Piano where we hiked and saw the First World War trench systems, tunnels, etc and would recommend the hiking in the area. Would we return to Silentium? Yes, we would! Loved the location, the rooms, the stillness at night, the view in the mornings and the food and recommendations from Evi. Thanks to Evi ( our Renaissance woman!), Friedrich and Tamara for making the stay so welcoming and memorable!…
Silentium is the kind of place that you love while being there, and feel homesick for once you leave. If you check out the website, everything is represented well. What you don't see is the attention to detail; in the dining area, the rooms, the property, the spa. For anyone who appreciates delicious, freshly prepared, locally sourced food; there is no disappointment. We had several picky eaters with us and everyone was delighted! The location is beautiful. There are hiking opportunities from Silentium to the town nearby (train station) or further destinations. Easy access to motorways as well. This place is ideal for solo travelers, families-anyone. Proprietor is gracious and delightful.
