The Mercure Rome Leonardo da Vinci Airport hotel has garnered mixed reviews, with guests praising the friendly staff but expressing frustration over slow service, particularly with the airport shuttle and breakfast service. While the pool is often highlighted as a positive feature, the rooms are criticized for their lack of cleanliness and modern conveniences. The atmosphere is considered outdated by some travelers, who also find the noise level inconvenient. Opinions on value for money are varied, with additional costs for shuttles and amenities being a common concern. Cleanliness levels seem inconsistent, as reports of both spotless and poorly maintained rooms circulate.

It’s always the small things when you’re paying €250 + for a room that add up to being a reason you don’t come back. No china cups (just paper),no spoons (nothing) in which to stir your first cup of the day. And luckily I brought my own milk/tea/sugaras the meager rations of supplies ran out quickly. No shampoo, just a universal body/hair wash. Thanks for the vanity kit, razor and toothbrush though, but a robe would have been better plus just one pair of slippers between two is a bit mean.
Yes I know these are all first world problems, but gone are the days of ‘what you pay is what you get’!

Hotel very close to Fiumicino airport, has a van (paid), which transports between the hotel and the airport, every 40 minutes.
Very large hotel, fast, friendly and polite service at reception. We were there 2 times. At first, in a standard room, large, but without any special attractions. Good bed, bad pillows. The second time, about 1 week later, we received an upgrade and were placed in a "premium" room, newer and improved. The bed is comfortable but the pillows are horrible. The room is large and spacious, with a bed and bedside tables (there are no sockets, just a USB input) and a reading light. Area with small table and 2 comfortable chairs, with electric kettle and coffee maker for coffee capsules (available in the room). Open closet, with hangers; support area for bags and suitcases. Minibar. Good bathroom, with large shower. I found the shower to be weak, but the water is very warm. Big sink. Various amenities. I missed a shelf or bench to support hygiene items. There is no shampoo or conditioner.
The hotel's restaurant (Leonardo) serves guests, but it's nothing special either. There are few options in the surrounding area.
Very good breakfast.

We stayed at the hotel one night because we had a fairly early flight out of Rome on Xmas eve.

Take the hotel's 6 euro shuttle from the airport. The schedule is on their website. The taxi wanted 30 euro 'flat fee', Uber wanted 28 euro for the 7 minute ride.

The hotel staff are friendly, the hotel somewhat worn and dingy. It took about ten minutes to check in and there was no one else there. The very friendly man had to reboot his computer and apologized that the system was very old. We then went to the room that was like an ice box. The window was wide open and didn't close. It was 5c outside and windy. They sent a maintenance man who eventually managed to fix the window after getting more tools and a ladder. Then the testing didn't heat. The maintenance man came back and fixed that too. Then we found out that there heating in the room turns off when you take out the room key so it's icy for an hour whenever you return to the room. We got a second key card and left it plugged in. After that, at least we could sleep there.

The room was dull due to lack of lighting but at least it was clean. The corridors were worn, the carpet so worn it looked like concrete. The elevators worked but bounced a bit so there was always a worried look on the faces of anyone in the elevator. The restaurant was reasonably priced and quite tasty. They only start serving dinner at 7:30pm which is somewhat late for North Americans but OK. The service was lovely. Breakfast was OK, not great but adequate with a small selection of cooked stuff, lots of pastries and some yogurt and preserved fruit.

The service was great. The hotel needs an overhaul and certainly isn't up to usual Mercure standards.

Best place to stay, if you want to be near to the airport. Nice decent sized clean rooms with food options for vegetarians as well. There is a bus stop right next to the hotel where you can get bus for city centre and charge is only 8 euros! Eni cafe which is bang opposite serves good coffee. All in all good place to stay with lots of nearby options to explore

Very unpleasant experience. First I was given a room that heavily smelled tobacco. I was changed to one that didn't have a king size bed but two tiny beds. Also smelled bad. The AC was noisy and opening the window was an even noisier alternative. Room was dirty (hair in the shower, a bottle cap under the bed, etc)
Bed sheets were old and stained. One of the worse experiences at a hotel ever. Staff was friendly and tried to help, but the moment I realize the hotel was not good I gave up trying.
As for location, although it's very close to the airport, it does not make a lot of sense to stay there. If you are coming from Rome or from any other point in Italy by train, you will have to either take a cab to the hotel or go to the airport and then get the hotel's shuttle (for a fee and not available late at night) After that you'll have to pay the shuttle back to the airport. If you land at FCO and from there you will go elsewhere in train, same. You're better off staying in Rome. And even if you do have a car and you will return the car at the airport, since the hotel charges for parking, you're better off staying in Rome, having a nice dinner, leaving your car at a centrally located parking lot and driving to FCO 3 hours before your flight. This hotel is too expensive for what it provides and in this city's particular case, given that the train Station is far from the airport, I see little value on staying there. avoid if you can

Hotel with dated furnishings that needs renovation or at least more care and maintenance. Ruined and gray curtains, unstable toilet seat due to lack of a screw, non-adjustable snap-on sink mixer, very light blanket on the bed, carpet that should be eliminated for hygiene reasons, clearly dated wooden furnishings. Breakfast 16 euros per person not tried...although I must say it opened at 6 in the morning, which seems useful for those who have an early flight.

We arrived early as we needed to drop off a rental car at the airport. Initially the hotel said we would have to wait which we understood. Shortly after a room was made available and we brought our bags up only to find it had not been made up. A second room was provided which we took in spite of a nasty odour, as time was of the essence.

The hotel has an airport shuttle which runs more or less every 40 minutes. My companion and I dropped the rental car at the airport and waited for the shuttle in the sun at the stop at T3. It arrived after one hour and forty minutes. When we returned to the hotel we expressed our displeasure that the scheduled shuttle had not arrived. The woman responsible for the shuttle responded "Is not possible" and accused us of making it up and/or being in the wrong place for pick-up. Shortly after the shuttle driver walked by and openly lied that he had been there. We had talked to him about it on the drive back and he made no mention that he was the driver of the missing shuttle. We called the driver on his lie and voices were raised with the woman in charge who could not have cared less and offered no apology.

The hotel has no glasses in the rooms only paper cups. I requested two actual glasses and had to argue with the front desk to have them sent up which was reluctantly agreed. Thirty minutes later, nothing. I went down to the desk and was told to ask the pool bar for the glasses. The pool bar staff told me to go to the desk. I explained that I had been sent by the desk and he gave me a sympathetic look and left the bar to get me the glasses. The beach bar staff understood service and were quite good.

During our stay there were two taxis requested through the hotel. In both cases there were no taxi signs on the vehicles and no meters. At 3:30 AM trying to make a flight there is no time to argue but $35 euro for a five minute ride seems steep.

To me the expectation with any airport hotel is 'nothing fancy but reliable with few hassles'. This place doesn't meet that standard.

Worst 4-star in the world. It's worth two and more!
Air conditioning absent, windows that do not open, 30 degrees in the rooms, atmosphere of the 80s era ceaucescu, view of the garbage (but the windows are so dirty that you can hardly see them) but above all: airport hotel NOT SOUNDPROOFED. So you sleep between takeoffs since you sleep under planes....
Airport hotel but it takes 10 minutes to get there by shuttle (paying 16 euros!!!!!) or taxi (30 or 35 depending on whether it is a local taxi (city of fiumicino) or Roman. The shuttle leaving the hotel leaves early by 4 minutes to better plant travelers who must take a taxi since the shuttles are very far apart.

A butt in my bathroom.
Swirling coffee machine.
Bar of absolute coldness and discomfort.

This hotel was a pleasant surprise on our night before we had to leave Rome airport. The rooms were modern and clean and quite a contrast from the old hotel rooms in the city of Rome. Staff was very friendly and their breakfast buffet was a bargain for €10,00. Buffet included waffles, boiled eggs, fruits, bagels and pastries. For only an additional €7,00, I ordered a 3 egg omelette with any of the fixings. This hotel was reasonably priced as well with free shuttle from the airport and a small fee for return to the airport.

We booked this hotel at the last minute because of a cancelled flight. As we arrived, there were 3 people at the reception desk talking to each other and only after they had finished chatting did they finally greet us. As the room was not ready we left our luggage and returned in the evening. When we arrived, our luggage was still in the storage room and we had to wait no less than 15 minutes for it to arrive in the room. Being a hotelier (as well as coming from the Accor world) I know the standards well and this has nothing of the 4 stars except the rate paid (138€ per night without breakfast). The room smelled bad (I assume because of the carpet), the mattresses hard as well as the pillows. Not even a topper x make them more comfortable. A very low standard never seen in a Mercure. In the bar fridge only 3 sparkling waters and we were already in bed when they brought us the natural one we requested (25 minutes wait). Not even a courtesy set present: just the shower gel and hand soap. At the c/out we got the bill wrong, and we ask for a taxi, but once we get out the taxi was not there as it was not booked by anyone, and they call it back. An NCC (a private car) arrives (quite different from the taxi requested) and asks us for 25€ for 3 km. Shameful. We called them back to express our perplexity, and they told us to contact the taxi company at the airport to complain. Madness. For a service provided by the hotel, the hotel is liable. This is an elementary rule in hospitality. Very bad management. A real shame for the Mercure world I have always used. I would not recommend it to anyone.
