Very good camp site. Good location within 15 min drive of most bouldering spots. Very friendly and helpfull owner. Camp site visitors can also use the common room and well-equipped kitchen in the hostel.

We had an absolutely amazing time at Fontaineblhostel. The people are great and as a base for bouldering this hostel is perfect. What completes the stay though, is Patrick. He goes above and beyond to help, and even picked us up from Font when our delayed train made us miss the last bus. We are firmly convinced this is the only place to stay on a trip to Font.

We stayed with a climbing group of children for 4 days and enjoyed our stay very much. The rooms were of course nice and clean and the kitchen was well equipped and suitable to cook for many people. Furthermore the owner of the hostel, Patrick, was helping us in french and german to find the perfect boulder spots, boulangerie, supermarket and probably everything you could ask for. Some of the bouldering areas were accessible by feet from the hostel. With a car it's no problem at all to be at the greatest boulders in few time. If you forget small climbing equipment like brushes, chalk or crashpads (not so small) you can rent or buy it at the place. I would recommend this hostel to everyone!

Excellent location for Fontaineblue itself and all the main bouldering areas.
Would definitely go again!

The Fontaineblhostel was a great place to base ourselves for a long Easter weekend bouldering around Fontainebleau.

The hostel is in an old building and looks very traditional from the front. Once you enter via the main entrance at the back you realise that it has been recently refurbished and the facilities are modern and clean.

We stayed in a 6 person dorm (there were 6 of us) and this was private to us. We also had an en-suite for the dorm.

The kitchen was clean and well stocked (including shared items such as tea bags, oil and basic spices). A small niggle is that the cooker was broken and the new hob unit had not been fully installed yet, although it was operational.

Partick (the owner) was a constant presence and available for advice on where to go or what to do on a rainy day. He really was very welcoming and friendly.

The final plus is that the hostel rents bouldering mats (that come with shoe mat and rock brush).

Stayed with a couple of friends during our trip to France for climbing in Fontainebleau. The hostel is nicely located with all major boulder areas close by. Crash pad rental was great and price was low (45 EUR for 7 days). Even though L'Elephant is within walking distance I'd still say a car is preferable to get to and from the boulder areas.

During easter weekend the hostel understandably got crowded.

Great atmosphere, great facilities and a nice selection of restaurants nearby (kebab, pizza, creperie, bistro) as well as two bars. Supermarket is close as well.

The owner, Patrick, is what made our stay five star worthy. Friendly, helpful and always with a smile on his face. If you got questions or need help navigating the area, Patrick is your go to man.

A group (4) stayed at the hostel in September 2014 and had an amazing stay. The accommodation was clean, comfortable and provided a great base for bouldering in the forest. The communal kitchen/lounge area was great for some self catering and relaxing in the evening. Patrick could not have been a better host, proving a very friendly service, the offer of transport and great information about the local area. He was also in touch during our journey (from London) to ensure we were going to get there OK, as we arrived pretty late! Thanks Patrick....we'll definitely be back this year!

Really nice, clean and modern hostel. Everything had just been newly renovated and was good to go. It's perfectly located for access to all the bouldering areas with Les Elephant and le Cul du Chien being particularly close. The owner was very friendly and extremely knowledgable of the areas. There were a couple of bouldering matts for hire and a small selection of goods to purchase (guide books ETC). The only reason I can think of it being so quiet during our stay is because of its recent opening and the word not being out about it yet. For my future visits to Fontainebleau I wont even bother looking for anywhere other than here to stay AA+++

In an area where hostels could be hard to come by, this place is really great. Such nice facilities. Really clean. Great kitchen and lounge area. Patrick, the owner, is really nice and helpful. He also has a small market full of food, and gear for climbers. I would highly recommend this place.

Most of the accommodation is in tents which the owner can provide and put up ready for tor arrival (big teepees), or you can use your own. Really good facilities, all very clean. Lots of room to cook and eat, including a big outdoor courtyard.
20 mins from most crags in Font with the Elephant within walking distance.
The owner Patrick speaks fluent French, English and German. He is really nice and helpful and was able to give advice and directions for climbing.
We would highly recommend this hostel and we would use it again.
Bring a splitter though as there aren’t that many plugs available but lots of people charging phones in the evenings!
Facilities:
Clean toilets and showers
Free WiFi
Fridges and cooking facilities (hobs only)
Plenty of cutlery, chopping boards and pots and pans etc
Washing up liquid, soap and sponges provided
Cooking oils, herbs etc provided
Supermarket 1km away (large and cheap)
Didn’t stay in the rooms, we were in tents on the grass at the rear
Board games, climbing guides etc all available for use in the common area
Several restaurants on the doorstep

Bonjour, Oui, les camping cars sont acceptés, mais la ruelle d'accès est étroite. Les formats standards "Traffic et Master" de Renault passent, les grands véhicules non. On peut visionner la rue dans google street view (rue des Sœurs). Cordialement Patrick

"All rooms are good, the ground floor is facing the pedastrian walk, so the pedestrian can actually see what you are doing when walking pass, but it is still safe. If that's your concern, ask for 1st floor."
