Our last night of the GR20, we walked from Berg de Crocce, arriving at 18.00. We received a lovely welcome. The room had 6 beds in, but was en-suite with a hot shower. A great kitchen. We ate a delicious dinner outside in the restaurant. As we were leaving early, breakfast was very kindly left in the fridge waiting for us for the morning. One of the best places to stay on the GR20. Many thanks, just what we needed.

This is a very simple place to stay, the two owners were very nice and able to accommodate if we had any questions. The truth of the matter is this is a hotel in the middle of the mountains, there is running water and some electricity and if you opt for the half or full board, they provide food as well. It was a great place to stay while traveling in this area if you don't want to camp.

We arrived after a day of walking, as we were doing the GR20. We had reserved two beds for the night in the accommodation several months in advance. On arrival we were told that we hadn't reserved. When we produced the documentation that proved it, we were told that we had reserved, but we would have to stay in their hotel down the mountain. We asked if it was possible that we could stay where we were. The manager was summoned, and after a lot of debate (not involving us), we were told we could stay, in room number 1. We duly moved to room number 1, and got ready for dinner. After a reasonable Corsican dinner, we asked the man behind the counter if he would like us to pay now, or in the morning. He told us to pay immediately, as walkers had left without paying before, and he did not want us to do the same. Rude, but understandable. We went to bed, in a reasonable dormitory. Some time later, the door burst open, and the lights were turned on. It was the same man from earlier, demanding to know why we were in room 1, and swearing. We told him that room one was where we had been sent. He swore at us, and shouted at us some more. He also called us liars, in front of a large group who had arrived late. He then started dragging our kit into room 5, where he said we had been told to go all along. This damaged a couple of items, which we didn't notice until later. When we explained that the manager had sent us to room one, and we hadn't made a mistake, he threatened to take my father outside into the carpark and beat him to make him understand. For context, my father is 70 years old and slightly built. After some more swearing and calling us liars, he disappeared again. I can't comment on the breakfast, as we decided not to stay for it.

We trekked into this Auberge, to see a Michelin Guide 2010 sign outside. We checked into our shared room - great facilities for Trekkers. We ordered the Demi pension which includes an evening meal and breakfast. The evening meal was delicious - Corsican soup, pork with a delicious soup and vegetables and finished with traditional Corsican flan dessert. It's out of the way, but you can drive there if not trekking. Lovely little village.
