We stayed a week ago at this lovely place, ideally located in the wooded part of BISCARROSSE, not far from the main beach. The owners' hospitality is fantastic. Lovely family room and amazing breakfast every morning served at your table. Lovely place, great owners!
We spent three nights in this delightful B&B. In the absence of the hosts, we were extremely well looked after by Nany who was charming and delightful as well as very helpful. Room number five was very comfortable and pleasant. It was also great to use the jacuzzi! We were able to walk into town where there were several restaurants open, even in early March. Nany provided us with superb breakfasts which included freshly-cooked crepes and beignets de pommes! Altogether an excellent place to stay which we would recommend highly.
Thank you Sophie and Francois at Le Comptoir des Sables, we couldn't have asked for more! 1. Perfect location. Surrounded by the stunning sweet smelling pines trees, just a short walk from the beech and town. 2. Beautiful accommodation and grounds. We were in room 4, a decent sized nicely decorated room, air conditioned, with its own outdoor private area with an additional outdoor shower. Perfect for washing the sand off and an aperitif before heading into town. 3. The perfect hosts. We arrived to a very warm welcome and there is nothing Sophie and Francois wouldn't do for you. They truly made our stay even more special. And last, but certainly not least...4. The best breakfast we've ever come across! Such a selection of food on offer including new homemade delights every morning. It was the perfect way to start our day, fuelling up for the occasional surf lesson. We hope to be back soon!…
I think the title sums it up perfectly. This is a little gem hidden in Biscarrosse plage. The house itself is beautiful and the room was beautifully decorated with its own terrace which made it feel like an apartment - you definitely get your money's worth! Hosts are lovely and very helpful and welcoming. Francois even drove us to the station on our last day which was immensely appreciated. The location is perfect, only a 5 minute walk from the beach and 8mn from the town centre. Very close to the cycle path too. I can't recommend this place enough and we will definitely be back!!
Sophie et François, qu'est-ce qu'on peut dire? From the start we knew we were on to a winner. Our hosts couldn't have been more welcoming and informative. Other reviewers have said it all. This was an overnight stay in accommodation which could be termed as bringing intimacy to an unprecedented level - both wc and bath in the bedroom. The breakfast was faultless and, François, thanks for introducing us to yoghurt from "Madame Mouton". I'd recommend Le Comptoir to others. I should have mentioned their lovely dog - a lurcher type hound with a wonderful nature - Snow.
My wife and I took our Grandson for a short stay in the area. This was our first visit to this area for many, many years. This B&B is situated within easy walking distance of the beach resort of Biscarrosse plage. The resort was not busy when we visited at the end of May, mainly visited by kite-surfers and body boarders. The resort had a very pleasant feel about it and we have vowed to return again, possibly later in the year. The B&B is outstanding, many, if not all of the rooms have their own entrance. Ours had a screened terrace, including an outside shower (to remove the beach sand), with a table and chairs. The room was very well decorated, with a very modern bathroom and a quirky bed space for our Grandson, which was set into the wall, screened by a curtain. He loved it!!! The breakfast was excellent, both in terms of quality and quantity. We enjoyed our stay here very much and will give it first consideration for future visits.…
My family and I stayed for a week's vacation. It was our first visit to this region of France and on the Atlantic coast at Biscarrosse. It was through the strength of the reviews on TripAdvisor that we chose to book at Les Comptoir des Sables. Upon arrival, the pictures reflected exactly the tasteful interior design and ambiance as seen being there. The B&B sets itself apart from all others in the area and is managed by the husband and wife team of Sophie and François. Both provided the level of discrete service befitting of a 4 star hotel for a B&B. We were given apartment no.5 with its own decking with tables and chairs, sun loungers, sun umbrella, and an outdoor shower great for the late night shower to cool off or to wash any sand from the surrounding beaches (wonderful beaches -ocean or lake side!). The apartment itself was composed of a bedroom, bathroom, and a lounge. Again, the decor designed by Sophie excelled in keeping with the French opulence. The bed-linen were wonderful and of high quality as it kept us warm and cool during the week making for a very comfortable stay. For each daily breakfast there was always one different item than on the preceding day. The pastries though fresh were good, but are probably purchased. I did not think it was a negative point as another reviewer had mentioned, but a poor level of expectation. The coffee, breads, cold cuts, cheeses, fruits, freshly squeezed orange juice, all prepared daily were excellent and in abundance. François was always anticipating our every need every morning at breakfast. For Biscarrosse I think Sophie and François are doing a marvelous job of providing an outstanding hospitality service differentiating itself from other establishments in the area. They are a very polite and kind couple running a business that reflects their personality and character, which I found very sincere. Certainly, the level of comfort and luxury stands out the competition in the area that surprised me and thoroughly enjoyed the stay with my family. We will be back next year. …
Perhaps one of the loveliest B&B's I have stayed in throughout France. The peaceful rooms are very French, elegant and luxurious with gorgeous linen, bathrobes and toiletries. Each room has its own private outdoor decked area which are set in a tranquil and beautiful garden with early morning birdsong. When I stayed in autumn the trees were a wonderful vibrant display of reds, yellows and oranges of the season. Still warm enough for a swim in the ocean, my early morning routine was to make coffee from the complimentary help-yourself Nespresso machine in the garden, then a 5-minute walk to the beach for a dip followed by an alfresco shower to rinse off the sand in my private garden enclosure. An alfresco shower at night, under the stars was fabulous. Breakfast is an event in itself. An elegant but informal affair with freshly squeezed orange juice, wonderful coffee, pastries, fruit and a different 'treat' everyday served on beautiful crockery with linen. I had travelled from the UK with my bike and following the decadence and 'ritual' of breakfast I would cycle through the pine forest trails down to many of the lovely soft, white sandy beaches. I would alternate this in the afternoon with cycles over to Lake Biscarrosse, an extraordinary beautiful lake with clear water and white sandy beaches, fringed with pine trees. Travelling in autumn was wonderful, peaceful and still warm enough to swim less the crowds of summer. Returning at the end of each day to the sanctuary of Le Comptoir de Sable and the warm welcoming smiles of charming hosts Francois and Sophie was a comfort. A glass of wine or champagne in the garden hot tub in the golden evening light under deep blue skies certainly instills well-being in this beautiful property. A note to travellers, Biscarrosse like most of the towns and villages of the Atlantic coast is a modern place and consequently lacks the charm of the medieval architecture of most of France. The drawcard though, is the stunning coastline, vast empty white sandy beaches, lakes and beautiful forests and of course, Le Comptoir de Sable. Au printemps or springtime would be just as beautiful.…
We stayed for a weekend during the offseason in March and very much enjoyed the place. The rooms are furnished very cosy and personal letting you really feel like home. The breakfast is exceptional - I've never seen such a great breakfast in a B&B. The owners are friendly, helpful and really give you the feeling that they enjoy your presence. The whirlpool outside is a nice addition.
One of our favourites so far. The rooms having external access are great as you feel you can be there during the day and come and go as you please. Lovely room. Breakfast was superb and our hosts were friendly and welcoming. We were there in off season and it was fantastic - we will be back!
