We had a great time at Olas Verdes! My mom and me stayed 1 week in the beautiful suite. The hotel is very close to the beach, a great option for surfers, and directly in the nature. We could see black monkeys on the trees directly from the window. I also have seen big and small lizards many times. Our visit was in the rain season, so everything was very green and fresh. Olas Verdes is a ecological hotel, they produce there own electricity, save water and care about the environment. Guests even get re-fillable water bottles with the hotel-design to take home, so as to reduce the plastic waste! There are bicycles at the hotel free of charge for guests to use, which is very convenient and nice, if you want to visit Nosara town or take a ride in the area. Also, something I see rarely any hotel do, every day guests have the possibility to get there clothes cleaned in the laundry and receive the cleaned and dried clothing in the room. Every thing is thought of!
We also enjoyed the swimming pool, its nice to cool down after a warm day. The food was delicious, I think we tried nearly everything on the breakfast card! Lots of vegan and vegetarian options as well as non-vegetarian. The food is served in the restaurant on the hotel territory. The staff is very friendly and fun. I am very grateful for being able to stay at Olas Verdes and hope to come again someday! Thank you!
Best regards, Anna

Thank you so much for your thoughtful and thorough review, Anna. We are very fortunate to be located so close to the ocean and in the beautiful jungle. It sounds like all the wildlife came out to greet you! We appreciate the eco based mention, as well. We are very proud of our LEED Platinum status and love when our guests notice our efforts. We hope you will come back to visit us again. We'll be here (as will the free laundry - a guest favorite!) waiting for you and your mom. Until then, pura vida!

Our family (2 adults, 2 young kids) stayed for 5 nights in April 2021. The hotel grounds are beautifully maintained, we heard and saw monkeys often, and the pool was a hit for our kids. There are a few shallow areas where our 1 year old could crawl around in the water which was perfect. The hotel is very eco friendly and even supplies you with an aluminum water bottle for you to use during your stay and take home with you. The staff were extremely kind and we also really enjoyed the restaurant on site , El Manglar. The food was great and it was so convenient to have right on site when we needed it. The beach path is fun too where we saw hundreds of crabs ducking into their holes as we walked by. The beach is amazing and perfect for surfers of all levels. One thing to note if you have young kids is that the beach itself has very little shade. Overall we had an amazing stay and would definitely return!

Thank you for your thoughtful and thorough review! We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us and that you found our hotel to be family (and eco) -friendly. It sounds like you got to experience all that the area has to offer - including the natural wildlife (the Halloween crabs are especially entertaining this time of year!). Hopefully the "ranchos" on the beach provided some shade relief for your family. Of course, as you found, the pool is a great spot to get out of the sun and cool off, too. We will pass your kind words on to our staff and our colleagues at El Manglar. We look forward to your return! Until then.... pura vida!

We stayed in the four bedroom house attached to the Olas Verdes Hotel known as Casa Nacho. The service from the hotel was impeccable, as well as a maid included for 3 hours each day. It was wonderful to have the tips and suggestions from the staff, and the restaurant available in just a few steps, but also be able to enjoy the quiet and independence of having our own home to stay in. We will definitely come back. Luis and his team were complete standouts in their service and assistance.

Our second visit to Nosara and second stay at Olas Verde. The rooms are exactly what we look for when we travel but with a little bit more. Rooms are impeccably clean, comfy beds, air conditioned bedrooms, beautiful grounds, pool and dining area, delicious included breakfast, attentive, friendly and accommodating staff and easy access to the beach and to town. I don’t actually foresee a trip to Nosara without a stay at Olas Verse and a meal at El Manglar. Until next time...Pura vida!

I stayed two weeks at Olas Verdes early this month. It was one of the most memorable trips I've ever done. The hotel's location is perfect!! Just a very short walk through the forest preserve and you are at the beach. If you surf, this beach entrance is also one of the safest spot to paddle out from. The hotel is pretty small, made up of a few buildings that seem to blend naturally in the forest. Really amazing! Every morning you wake up to the sounds of the forest, either the howling monkeys or the iguanas scrambling through the roof!! I always wondered what was making that sound until one day I finally saw an iguana staring down at me :). Even though the hotel is small, it seems like everything I need is right here or just around the corner. First there's El Manglar restaurant which is on-site. I actually ate most of my meals here and all of them were really really good and fresh! Also on-site is Safari Surf. It's an all inclusive surf camp. But if you didn't book your stay through Safari Surf and just came here to surf by yourself, just around the corner is AguaTibia surf school where you can rent a board for about $100 a week. Also on-site is David's quad (ATV) rentals. I rented one for a few days and explored Nosara and other nearby towns stopping by all the empty beaches along the way. Definitely one of the highlights of this trip. But the best experience I had during this trip is gaining new friends. Everyone in the hotel, the restaurant, the surf school, other guests, just made me feel so at home. I will definitely be coming back. And this time I will stay a lot longer. Muchas gracias mi amigos y amigas! Hasta pronto!

Room: AC in bedroom, which was essential for us! Really powerful ceiling fans in bedroom and living room area. We were in a smaller suite, but had plenty of room for our small family. Amenities were fantastic, especially the laundry service. We also really liked the local coffee, teas and cookies in the kitchenette. Cute little balconies from which we saw a lot of wildlife including howler monkies, iguanas and tons of birds. One note: room had lots of little bug friends, especially in the evenings. I don’t think this is something you can avoid in this area. You’re basically between the jungle and the mangrove swamp and are here to see nature up close. It wasn’t a big deal, we found that the bedroom with the AC and fan had much fewer uninvited guests than the warmer part of the suite. Didn’t get bit or anything, just know that you’re going to interact with nature in all its forms in Nosara.

Food: Included breakfast was very tasty.tie
options. Wife loved the Surfo Sandwhich! We had dinner in the restaurant one night. It was moderately priced (I think we spent about $50 US for three meals, no drinks), and really enjoyed the food quality and presentation. Other guests seemed to be enjoying the bartender’s creations as well.

Pool: Basic pool, clean, sun-warmed. Lots of nice shower stations around to rinse off after pool or beach.

Location: About 5 min walk to beach. Like all of Nosara, the roads in and out are rollercoasters of potholes mud puddles. We enjoyed the adventure of it, others might be annoyed that traveling takes a little extra time.

Service: Very kind and helpful staff. Couldn’t say enough good thinks about the folks with whom we interacted. If we return to Nosara, would be happy to stay here again.

Thank you for your kind and detailed review. All the information is accurate, including the "wildlife" situation. During the rainy season, especially, we enjoy a higher volume of bugs, none of which - as you mentioned - are harmful. Your "up close" perspective is appreciated. Thanks for mentioning the free laundry service. It is certainly a guest favorite, and one we will continue to offer. We look forward to having you back any time. Until then, pura vida!

We went to surf and got a little extra dose of relaxation. The Olas Verdes staff stood out. They made the whole experience better. Our rooms were great - nice beach aesthetic, clean/well maintained, and comfortable. Breezy ceiling fans did most of the work, but an AC in the bedroom was appreciated.
The location is excellent. Walking to beach was easy and close but also provided a little adventure each time. Riding the loaner bikes to town gave us good optionality.
We loved the whole experience.

This is a lovely little boutique hotel. I loved my apartment, and had the best sleep of my whole trip in Costa Rica there. The apartments were well furnished and with tea and coffee for use too. The breakfasts were nice too. Surfers are very well served here, but not being a surfer, I felt the location was probably not my favourite in Costa Rica. But the staff were great - booking me onto a morning SUP, and going above and beyond with customer service - particularly when I found out I needed a Covid test before flying home. Lovely, and friendly staff in the bar and restaurant as well. Thanks to everyone for helping me enjoy my stay in Nosara.

Thank you for your review, Ruth. We are so pleased you chose to stay with us - and you got a good night sleep!! We will pass your kind remarks on to our staff. While it is true that surfing is a very popular activity in Nosara and we do have a surf school on site, there are many other activities in the area (like SUP, which we hope you enjoyed). If you come back to stay with us, our staff will be pleased to arrange a variety of experiences for you. There is fishing, yoga, kayaking, ziplining, and waterfall hikes, to name a few. And of course we provide a bicycle for use to explore the area on your own. Thank you again for being our guest. Pura vida!!

My sister and I recently stayed at Olas Verdes for 9 nights as we celebrated our 60th birthday. We could not have been more pleased with our stay. From the very start Olas Verdes provided 5-star service. Our shuttle from the Liberia airport (arranged by Olas Verdes) was timely and flawless in spite of the torrential rain that started in mid-ride and the roads that were closed as a result. From the moment we arrived at the hotel we knew we had made the right choice in selecting Olas Verdes. We were looking for casual luxury and that is exactly what we found. Our first-floor suite could not have been more perfect and our outdoor veranda which backed up to the jungle felt so private and yet was seconds away from all the action. Sustainability is important to us and Olas Verdes with its Platinum LEED certification is the real deal.

We spent just over a week at Olas Verdes and ate almost all of our meals at the amazing El Manglar restaurant. We enjoyed multiple days of surf lessons with Alonso who got these 60 year old women moving and shaking in the waves. Kudos to him! We went on daily boogie board sessions, practiced yoga, and got massages. The hotel is an easy 10 minute walk to the nearby shops so we made daily excursions to “town” as well. The hotel helped us to arrange zip line, bird watching and kayaking excursions. No matter what you need, the staff at Olas Verdes will help to make it happen. They will call you a tuk tuk, make a dinner restaurant anywhere you like, stand with you in the rain while you wait for your taxi.

There is no pretense at Olas Verdes. All of our fellow guests were just there to have a great time, be active and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. We made wonderful friends during our stay of both fellow guests as well as the staff at the restaurant, the front desk and all the other staff members working so hard every day to make our stay wonderful. This boutique hotel is a gem in an absolutely perfect location. I truly could go on and on suffice it to say, we loved our stay and we will be back. If you are looking for a place to stay in the Nosara area, you owe it to yourself to check out Olas Verdes and experience the best that Playa Guiones has to offer.
