Beautiful location, friendly staff and great atmosphere. They have two onsens they swap genders on odd and even days so try both. Breakfast was outstanding. They do get you when you check out with a small hidden fee called an onsen tax. Famous bike path starts near hotel and they rent bikes.
We reserved an upgraded room with a couch & telescope: amazing to watch the squid boats going out for the early morning catch. Then to be served the freshest of fresh seafood for breakfast, wonderful. The local foods from bamboo tips, pumpkin, corn fritters, and fried tofu with very large "fuki": first time to try, all were delicious. The Beauty of Wood" is repeated in hand-carved artworks, special woodwork in the lobby, the wooden furniture, to the vaulted ceiling of the onsen bath. I especially liked the Ainu pattern of the Yukatas. Our visit was some time ago but Unforgettable... The room & housekeeping were all first class. Free Parking; even had a Library if bad weather. Would love to visit in the winter for Ice Fishing on Lake Saroma.
Wonderful view of lake and Sea of Okhotsk Clean room with coffee bar and fridge, comfort tatami style beds and great view outside the window (sunset visible) Nice restaurant with wonderful view, full choices of foods Great thermal spring room
Lake Saroma Tsuruga Resort or Saromako Tsuruga Resort was a very interesting. A large picture window for you to gaze at the sunrise, sunset and all the birds. They even have binoculars to use in your room. Onsen was good and quite a lot of people used the ping pong table instead of the pool table.
Stayed here mid June. It was a rather quiet hotel with mostly local tourist and few foreigners. Hotel is good, all rooms facing the lake, with a souvenir shop and coin laundry below. Our package include dinner and breakfast buffet. Upon checking in, they asked if we have any seafood allergies. At first we were kinda confused, as its a buffet anyways, if we have allergies we simply just dont eat it. During dinner we found out that aside from the buffet, they give you per pax one raw giant scallop, prawn, and oyster. Its such a waste because our kids cant eat sashimi yet. We asked if they could just grill it but they said no. Perhaps if we told them during check in then things could be different?
