Firstly, the resort is luxurious in the sense that the villas are well furnished, the grounds well kept and the individual infinity pools necessary. The food Is good and the staff .are really wonderful, but drinks are not cheap even by Zanzibar standards. The complex is remote and is reached via a 4km pot-holed track. Whilst the complex is by...

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Residence. It is very definitely 5 star and stands comparison with top resort hotels in other parts of the world. Our beach front villa with pool was unusually spacious and extremely well appointed. The central facilities were excellent and the bar and dining area were very comfortable. The food was pleasant and served...

Fabulous location, classic white coral sand beach, blue sea and sky, palm trees, who cares if the tide goes out, it comes back! Every villa has it's own pool plus there is a huge central pool next to the bar and restaurant. Great food, lovely beach barbecues and themed buffets, nice wines and delightful entertainment. Each villa is huge, the...

The Residence Zanzibar gives an impression of Zanzibar like a one big Resort, with ocean front, big enough and sun running all 12hours of the day. The ambience and staff crowns the unforgettable stay worthwhile.

Wonderfull vilas, very friendly staff. BUT: The food is medium and this is even a complement. They overcharge for everything outside the menu, including soft drinks; Once you arrive it is very difficult to get out - with no easy access to transportation, and an extremely long, unpaved access road,it is like a five star prison. One thing that is not...

Dear Remy B Thank you for taking the time to post your review. I am so glad that we could make contact with you whilst you were still at the resort. I believe chef catered for you and that things turned out to be enjoyable. Is the Residence Zanzibar at hot spot for night life...No. If you are looking for...

Okay, first of all, I should tell you that this hotel is quite expensive. I got to stay there only because I snagged a deal. But even at its price, it's worth it every paisa! It's a huge property with rooms/villas to match. You have to cycle (which they provide) from one end to another. The restaurants are all on...

Luxury villa with 5* service - paradise. The staff at the residence could not be more helpful or accomodating. From the moment my husband and I arrived on site we could not have felt more at home in this secluded paradise. Nothing was a problem to the staff. We used our own pool in the middle of the day, and...

The Residence Zanzibar is very nice 5 star hotel, with great ocean looking rooms (you have to request them) with private pools. The food is great and the snorkeling they offer is also amazing, we saw wild dolphins and great coral reefs. The general pool is an infinity pool and is spectacular. But we had to give the Residence a...

Dear Charlie C Thank you for taking the time to post your review. I do apologize that your expectations where not met in regards to the beach and the ocean. Zanzibar is surrounded by a reef with extreme tides. At low tide you have no water and one can walk on the reef and experience the reef life and I...

After a week in Dar and several days on StoneTown, this was a great way to end the vacation. Although we had a few issues and after speaking with management, the remainder of our stay was lovely. I'd like to especially recognize the Hotel manager, Housekeeping manager and Food Service mamager. All women in charge and immediately responsive. Girl Power!
