We stayed at the Fotis apartments for 5 nights. We chose the Fotis as it’s within walking distance of the seafront (10 minutes) and close to the hotel Amirandes as we were attending a wedding there. What we also discovered is that there are plenty of tavernas serving local food and drink on the walk down to the seafront (we would recommend the Bakery Centre for breakfast pastries and coffee and the Medusa and Paradise restaurants for dinner). The rooms were spacious, comfortable and clean with a balcony overlooking pleasant and well maintained gardens. There were facilities in our room you don’t always see such as an ironing board and a small oven. Katrina was lovely and accommodating and couldn’t do enough for us both before and during our stay; having arranged our taxi from the airport via email and, later, allowing us to keep the room well into the evening so that we were able to sleep ahead of our night flight back to the UK. There isn’t a pool but the apartments next door, the Adonis, will allow you to use theirs if you buy drinks which we did. For price we paid the Fotis was faultless. We’d definitely return and recommend to our friends and family. Crete is a beautiful island and the Fotis is the perfect value for money place from which to explore.…
Fav place to gave your hols. Family run and very friendly. Fotis is very accommodating and all his family are lovely xx Look forward to seeing them all again. Fab pool and bar and suitable for everyone.
First of all we want to mention that Shortly after departure, we were surprised to find out that the host is requesting an additional payment (Special Accommodation Tax) of 3.50 euros, as well as 10 euros for doing the dishes and 10 euros for some allegedly broken things. Which was very suprsing, as we did not broke anything and we were not told about this special accomodation tax. So, we would like to go point by point : 1) The Special Accommodation Tax has never been mentioned by the hosts during our one-week stay, although they saw us a lot of times and could have told us directly about this payment. 2) Mrs. Katerina also complained that we broke the little door of the fridge (we suppose that it’s the door of the freezer) that was already broken at the moment of our arrival, and that was not affixed to the freezer, but just inserted there. 3) Mrs. Katerina requested 10 euros for “all the plates, pans and glasses left dirty in the sink”. When we arrived, we had to wash all the dishes before using them, as they seemed quite dirty, but we did not request a discount of 10 euros for that. Who sets the price / or the fine of 10 euros for washing the dishes? 4) Mrs. Katerina claimed that after our check-out from the hotel “We telephoned to the rep. of Mouzenidis, they looked for you at the airport, they called your names, but you were not found.” Our flight was delayed by 2 hours, which means that we were in the airport from ~ 8 am to 11:30 am, and we did not hear anybody calling our names. Therefore, we doubt that she tells the truth about the other things mentioned above. All these complaints were not adressed to us directly, but to our friends who stayed in another room. Which means that the host tried to make us look bad in the eyes of our frinds. We would also like to share our impressions after the stay at Fotis Studio Apartments: - Inappropriate cleaning of the room. We had to sweep the room ourselves, as it was too dirty. It seems that the host used to open the room, move some of other belongings, but never really cleaned the room. On the ceiling were many stains from the killed mosquitos. - Too many mosquitos in the room, which made the night sleep almost impossible. Mosquito repellent tablets, as well as a special Citronella candle turned out to be useless in our case. - Inappropriate communication (leaving some weird hand-written messages in the room, instead of talking directly to us) - Very bad wi-fi - The hosts did not care at all about safety. One day they simply left the bunch of keys from all the rooms, next to our room 106, which means that anyone could have entered and could have stolen valuable things (like an expensive laptop). There is no video surveillance on the area of the hotel, so anyone can enter the territory. Photos are attached.…
Very rigid bed, the very small TV, 10 meters from the main road, are always noisy there, over the head planes sit down, the conditioner for separate 7 euros a day + a view of kitchen gardens This place not where there is a wish to spend a vacation. At this price in Crete there are a lot of really good hotels
