Guests at Diogenis Blue Palace have found its service to be exceptional, often highlighting the staff's friendly and attentive nature. While opinions on the hotel's value are divided, with some guests considering it affordable despite others pointing out the outdated aspects and extra charges, the amenities generally receive positive marks for their variety and family-friendly environment. The rooms, though clean and spacious for some, could benefit from modernization. The lively atmosphere, complete with regular live music and events, along with the praised location for its scenic views and beach proximity, adds to the hotel's appeal.

Upon arriving I was impressed with the look of hotel and location. Room was very basic no tea/ coffee making facilitys and the shower was very small my partner struggled to get in and the shower was like something you buy from a shop and attach to your taps over your bath. The room was cleaned every other day and clean towels left but our dirty towels were left in bathroom so after 4 days i piled them up on floor behind front door so they would take them, on one of the days we had a ripped clean sheet left on bed these are not a major problem but to advertise its a 4 star is not good enough. The restaurant was chaotic as soon as you went in you were under pressure to get food without even having time to see what they had then they took you back through the start of the queue to give you your plate and cutelry. The breakfast was terrible always cold after day 2 we stopped having it. The lunch and evening meals were nice apart from running out of some things and having to wait for more. The dessert section was very poor. The live cooking was great the chef even came up to our table and brought us a plate of food. The bar was very limited to drinks but the barman was great. This is not a 4 star hotel but with a few tweaks it could be.alot better. I know with the current situation things are difficult and the staff are trying their best. I have been in the hospitality industry for years and there was no one in charge and organising things properly. I would return at 3 star prices

A hostel with a good starting point if you want to travel all over Crete and a nice vantage point to watch the sunrise but avoid this etablishment if you want to spend your beach vacation their beach is small the surroundings are polluted with tourists and a foul smell emerges from time to time not far from the hotel facade, you can easily find a better place in Crete to rest. The arrival was not the warmest, don't expect the reception staff to smile at you, the first morning when I arrived at the hostel my room was not ready so I started by going to ask for information about the island at the bar inside where a former Greek staff member with a big beard told me "You don't look like a Frenchman, you look like a terrorist" I was hoping to get a better first impression of Greek hospitality, which you sure won't find at this place!
As for the rooms they are rather beautiful and spacious but expect bedding as hard as stone, fortunately many cousins were available in my room to compensate for this. The bathroom is equipped with a shower, a sink , a WC and is regularly cleaned during your hollidays
The food at the morning and the lunch is good but you don't find greecs speciality at theyr table, The good point was that the service in the dining room was always smiling and welcoming, moreover the hygiene standards and social distancing were well respected.

Just returned from 10 days all inclusive at this hotel. Overall we were happy with our stay. The staff were helpful and couldn’t do enough for us upon request. We upgraded from a standard lower floor pool view room to a family suite with beach view for a small extra charge. This made us feel more on “honeymoon”
Beautiful pool (un-heated) with beds and umbrellas surrounding. Be careful of the floor surrounding the pool when wet as it becomes very slippery especially with flip flops on!!
Rooms were cleaned and bedding and towels changed every other day if not daily
Food was plentiful and mainly greek(as expected) could be monotonous if staying for more than a week and sometimes lunch and dinner could have the same dishes. It’s on a Buffett basis and temperature of food could’ve been hotter. Also some signage of what the dishes are would’ve been helpful.
All inclusive drinks consisted of 6/7 drinks including beer wine ouzo etc but if you wanted anything else spirit wise you could be disappointed.
No actual entertainment in the hotel and bar closes at 11pm. Plenty of bars restaurants on the beach front if needed.
There is a small beach for the hotel literally over the other side of the road. Limited beds and umbrellas available free on first come basis (get there early)
As with most Greek islands plumbing is primitive so no toilet paper down the loo, instead to be put in bin (not just this hotel but everywhere). Also at times a really bad drain smell which can be off putting.
Many cats/kittens roaming free and scavenging in the hotel and on the island as a whole.
Hotel is a bit dated and could generally do with an upgrade but this did not detract from our stay.

I genuinely don't like leaving bad reviews but our experience of this hotel was truly awful. The main problem was the amount of sunbeds. There were over 200 guests and 60 sunbeds. That together with the hotel allowing towels to be left over the sunbeds reserving them the night before caused no end of upset. Even their 'private' beach only had a dozen beds and were taken by 8am.

The food was dire, and if you did choose to queue, the food was cold. Everybody we spoke to (and not just English) commented on the poor quality and repetitiveness of the food.

The room was basic but clean and the shower provided only a trickle of warm water. I know this is Greece in August, but I really have stayed at much nicer 3* hotels in Greece. We did not get this holiday cheap and would definitely expect a better standard for what we paid.

The all inclusive included 3 meals a day and local drinks only. That is probably why, despite every attempt, I was unable to discover prior to booking what exactly was included. I appreciate that due to covid some things have had to change, (afternoon snacks being one of them) but I feel robbed by being told this was an all inclusive 4* hotel.

I have to say that the barman was a lovely guy, friendly and helpful despite his 12 hour shift. The staff in general were very nice although we overheard the manager on two separate occasions speaking very disrespectfully to holiday makers at the front desk!

As for anyone concerned regarding Covid, it seems all regulations were being adhered to. There were hand sanitizers available and staff wore face masks. Guests were expected to wear face masks in reception area and towels were in sealed plastic bags.

All in all I would not recommend this hotel unless it was an absolute bargain and you had no intentions of sunbathing there, eating there or having a hot shower there!

Dear guests, we all need to know that due to COVID-19, everything is differrent this year. So, instead of 300 sunbeds there are about 70, due to the distances..The food is everyday different and 3 times per week we have show cooking..The all in drinks are being clearly and detailed sent to all our collaborators, so as to know what is included and what is not.It consists of cretan alcohol drinks, soft drinks, all kinds of coffee. No afternoon snacks due to the COVID-19, Greek Goverment's law.I am personally the same person that other guests gave me congartulations for solving some misunderstadings between gusts and the hotel. In conclusion we consider that hotel is a very good choice '' value for money '', sometimes you get just you have paid for, and your comments help us to be better. Thank you very much for your comment, Stavros Perakis Hotel's Operation Manager

We don't usual post reviews but we had to so people don't make the same mistake we did and stay in this awful hotel.
Hotel points need to be considered before booking!

1. Breakfast, not enough for guest and inedible, all other guests we spoke to were saying the same.

2. Same dinner and lunch everyday, and to be honest it was inedible anyway

3. Not enough sunbeds for guests.

4. Manager attitude and the way he speaks to guests are appalling. ( calling them idiots?)

5. Covid is happening putting multiple peoples towels in a bin bag to prove points. Changing rules in middle of the day.

6. Ants in room, beds impossible to sleep on.

7. Wild cats in inclosed eating area where you are suppose to eat.

8. Drink selection, awful (no soft cordial drinks, no spirits apart from Raki and Ouzo)

9. From rooms 220 to 205 outside the rooms smells of fascias.

10. Squished fly marks all in the rooms

11. Lighting in the room is terrible can't see what your doing once dark.

12. Shower floods the whole room in you use it for more the 5 minutes.

13. On our last day handyman started doing maintenance work smoking the place out and the hitting tiles off at the bar where we was standing.

14. On one day there was no water at the hotel, and also showers are freezing.

15. WiFi doesn't work around half of the hotel resulting in using Internet.

16. No entertainment at all in hotel.

Over all this is the worst experience in a hotel we have ever been at! Would seriously advise to book elsewhere! Probably a 2 star hotel and thats being generous!

Dear guests, we know this season was different, we had to wait for fod, keep distances, be patient. We donot have something against noone, but we are expecting from all guests what we call ''common sense''.. So we have to reply to this comment.... 1 and 2.There is variety of food and 3 times a week we have show cooking with gyros night, shrimpls' night, and sea food night..... 3.Due to the COVID-19 we have to keep distances around the pool, so there are 70 sunbeds instead of 300...... 4 and 5.I am the Manager, and after a lot of complaints from people we deciced to keep your towels at the reception, because you just left towels for the whole day, and some guests did not have the chance to go sunbathe for days. After your complains about loosing a sun cream , we went together to the closest supermarket and I bought you one... Of course you have never heard from me words like the one you refer on your review..... 6-12. More ''common sense '' section would be to come to find me and discuss all these problems. You just ignore me and decided to write the review from here with no full name, ok , we respect it...... 13.If this happened we have to apologise on behalf of the Hotel Management, and we would be able to find you a solution. What is that?To buy on our own some you some drinks at Crazy Beach Bar, the one which is at the street. 14.The water pumps have to do with electricity. So, yes one day the whole village of Kato Gouves had no water for 4 hours, due to a serious problem ,due to the vey high humidity in the atmosphere, which was not actually our misrtake. 15. Internet is working very well close to Reception and pool area, never promise about rooms. 16. Greek law says no people together, so no entertainment. When your office told me about your complins, I told them to tell you to come to find me to explain the situation, your choice was to go to the closest village Hersonissos, and look for another hotel....... We actually consider that our hotel is a ''great value for money '' , and you can not expect too much from this season, when our goal is to stay safe and healthy, so no hugs, no dances, no parties...... The meaning of '' common sense ''is that.to stay safe and healthy when you go back, and we when we finish the season to be safe and healthy as well..... Thank you very much for this comment, which actually gives me the opportunity to make things clear...... Betss Regards, Stavros Perakis Hotel Operation Manager

We recently stayed here for 10 nights after wanting a cheap getaway. The location of the hotel is great - right on the beach.
When we checked we were offered an upgrade for €10 per day which we paid for and it meant that our room was overlooking the beach.

The hotel was really clean and the staff all very helpful and friendly. Obviously with COVID-19 it’s a bit different but nonetheless a great stay.

The food was fine, we always found something nice to eat, the salads nice and fresh and the breakfast was great. It must be tough for them to go from a self serve restaurant to serving everyone but they dealt with it great.

The hotel manager was really helpful and if we ever had an issue it was dealt with straight away.

We will definitely return as it suited our needs. We did not pay 5* prices and weren’t expecting 5* service but the staff made us feel welcomed and safe during the pandemic.

Hotel and staff are lovely, our first room was very dated and noisy with people partying outside until 6am! I told reception and he moved us immediately to a much nicer room within the main complex. The pool is very nice but there are nowhere near enough sunbeds which causes a lot of problems. Other then that a beautiful location and again the staff work so hard and are very attentive, now our main complaint is the so called all inclusive, the food is terrible, my kids lived all week on bread rolls.. spaghetti Bolognase everyday with a selection of cold random meats and chips, we spent a fortune eating out and so did everyone we met here, no snack bar, no ice cream, the restaurant shuts at 9.30 and then there is nowhere to get a drink until 11, the bar all inclusive is very limited to just beer, soft drinks or ouzo/raki no other spirits or drinks are available, again I had to go to the supermarket and buy drinks in, do not expect a normal “all inclusive” because this is far from it, tea doesn’t even start until 7pm so from dinner until then there is nothing available. A waste of money paying the extra money when you have to spend another few hundred pound eating and drinking out anyway.

We travelled as a family of four with 2 teenage children in the middle of a pandemic. We were not sure what to expect. Communication with the hotel before we arrived was good. There was queuing for food but this was done safely and the serving staff were superb in the restaurant, working very hard but always smiling. The food was ok and varied each day. The all inclusive drinks were very limited and the management need to look at this moving forward (I dont accept they are going for a cretan experience). Im guessing they are understaffed and serving a variety of drinks would overwhelm the barman. The bar tender, Benny was superb. He worked incredibly hard and seemed to be there every hour of the day.
The location is right on the beach with stunning views. We ate out a couple of times and there are a few good bars and restaurants within walking distance.
The room is basic but no worse than other rooms we've stopped at in Greek hotels. Would I recommend, yes if you are looking for a base in Kato Gouve and want to dine out occasionally. This hotel may offer a completely different experience when the Pandemic is over.

Holiday from hell
Paid for 4 star all inclusive
Arrived late Tuesday night 4th October to be greeted with smiles paid room tax then to be told due to Covid in 5 rooms no rooms
available now 11.30pm moved us to another hotel 1.5 miles away hotel not acceptable then moved to another hotel which was very basic no facilities there. We had to walk to the main hotel. On the 3rd day we moved into the hotel this was only due to Thomas Cook helping us the room we were given has a pigeon problem defecating all over the balcony and doors every day.
We found No Covid restrictions in the hotel no body wearing masks we were later told that they had over booked we also meet further couples that had a similar experience that week.
We have been holidaying in Greece for 20 years and this is the 1st bad experience.

This saying in title fits this hotel. I will not write about the food because it is subjective but try to describe the four stars of this hotel. In the bathroom regardless how much water you use the sever odors constant. In the first floor bathroom there is not enough water pressure to have a proper shower. Staff who starts the work in the morning shouts from one corner to the other to each other. You can ask as many times as you want not to be loud in the morning, they say "yes" "yes" and comtinue to shut to each other. The hotel beach is very small and relative dirty. It is shared with a beach bar that sunbeds are in the first raws while the hotel's at the back, not talking about the limited number of sun beds both at the beach and at the pool. All rooms are equipped with air-condition which are very laud and hard to sleep with. When you leave your balcony door open then morning noise of employees will wake you up or it can happen that another drunk gust enters to your room in the middle of the night.
But there were three employees that I would highlight by name: George, Popi and Marika. George helps you with wathever technical problems you have in the bathroom, or if you need pillow or help with a non invited drunk guest. Popi from the reception always helpful and smiles. Gives you advice and help. Marika helps you out with lack of cleaning. When the cleaning staff do not do their job well Marika helps you.
This three employees made us feel better but overall who ever is responsible in Greece to give to the hotel the stars I would recommend to review this four stars. And for travellers I belive for the same amount of money you can get better value.
