Surrounded by a peaceful Mediterranean garden, this modern apartment-complex offers plenty of Greek charm. You won’t find a huge resort packed with guests, but that’s its magic. What you do get is a family-run hotel, designed like a small village, set away from the main road, approximately 300 metres to the seafront, along with the good old fashioned Cretan hospitality. Our guests love to chill out and relax at Ourania Apartments. Accommodation at the hotel consists of spacious apartments, suitable for couples and families. And what better way to enjoy the calm surroundings than from the comfort of a lounger? The pool terrace is dotted with sunbeds and parasols, so there’s no need to put your towels down before sunrise. And if you follow the sound of ice cubes clinking into a glass, you’ll find the handy snack bar. If ever there were apartments that prove less is certainly more, welcome at Ourania Apartments...

Ourania Apartments Hotel garners acclaim for its immaculately maintained amenities and high cleanliness standards, including spotless rooms and pristine grounds. The hotel's charming atmosphere, reminiscent of a Greek village, offers spacious rooms with modern amenities and scenic views, though a few spots may lack a cozy touch. Guests appreciate the tranquil yet convenient location, a stone's throw from the beach. While some visitors mention additional fees for air conditioning and the pool, the overall value is celebrated. Just returned from a week at Ourania Apartments. We paid a little extra for a superior apartment, and it was definitely worth it. No wet shower curtain sticking to you in a tiny bathroom, but instead a full sized walk in shower with glass screen. Bedroom had ample power sockets well placed around the room, modern storage units and a comfortable double bed. Kitchen basic,.but we never planned on using it for much. It has a kettle, toaster, fridge and two ring hob.

Plenty of sunloungers available around a clean pool.

At the bar Kostas and Stella kept us supplied with friendly service and reasonably priced drinks, along with a good range of light meals and snacks (the club sandwich excellent value). No evening meals there, but there are plenty of options for eating out with a few minutes walk.

Only 10 minutes walk from the sea front, and similar distance to bus stop for access to Hersonissos, Malia and Heraklion.

Thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and would recommend Ourania to anyone.

Well what can I say?
This was our first time to Crete and it went downhill right from the start.

First of all we had a lovely warm welcome by the manager Mr Costas who checked us in very quickly then, we wasn’t even allowed to carry our own cases to the room.

We got very annoyed by the beautiful clean room with great air con.

The staff only emptied your bins on a daily basis and put fresh sheets on regularly

Then it got worse in the morning we went down for an English breakfast,
It was that bad we ate the lot. And tried it a few other mornings and had the same result.

The attentive bar staff our to annoyance spoke English.
And served you with a smile and a joke.

The pool was so clear and warm you didn’t want to get in at all.

Then when we decided to go to the water park Costas arranged the trip for us including being picked up and returned.

The beach is so far away it takes a five minute walk

I could go on and on so will just end with some advice…

Don’t risk booking here as we need to have vacancies next year so we can return for another fabulous relaxing sun drenched holiday.

We got home a week ago after spending 10 lovely nights in a 1 bed apartment. Flew with Easyjet who were great, flew out of Gatwick airport which was safe, clean and organised - no problems at all.
At the Ourania apartments the Pool was lovely, loungers disinfected thoroughly every night as well as tables at bar/ cafe after every use. Staff great and wore masks all the time so that the guests didn’t have to. Hand sanitiser available everywhere. Hotel management very helpful - i rang a week before and asked for an apartment near the pool as we have young kids and that’s what we got, I asked for late check out and had the room until 9pm for free. Nice and chilled and friendly, lots of well behaved cats to pet and lovely Freddy the hotel dog. Would def go again, top tip book yourself a sunset table for a meal at the ‘island restaurant’ lovely food amazing sunsets next to the crashing waves. Our 2nd amazing holiday in Crete. Will return there again another year definitely.

We arrived mid August as a last minute holiday due to previously booked trips being cancelled, We didnt expect a lot due to price and the complex's official rating. However, we have made an absolute find.

The apartments are clean and the complex is lovely. There is a smallish pool but it is plenty big enough for the amount of people here and the beach is just a 10 minute stroll away. Bars and restaurants are also close by with enough choice to keep all sorted for a two week stay. Food is served until 4pm which is fine i think this is due to Covid. You can have a full breakfast at 9am or 4pm same menu all day. All food we had was excellant. We had a two bedroome apartment for the three of us which had loads of space and everything that you really needed.

Whilst we were there my son had to be admitted to hospital to have his appendix removed. The staff and the other holiday makers could not have been more helpful. 5 stars to Costas, Costas, Tasos and Stella who were all great hosts and could not do enough for you. We had to stay an extra 4 days due to our son not being fit to fly and they made that incredibly stressful time easier for us all to bare.

We will definatly be back next year hopefully with a few friends and family in tow. Look forward to seeing you all. Thank you once again

Last minute getaway after lockdown. Was really apprehensive as normally stay in big 5 star hotels that are singing and dancing so really was expecting much. Absolutely delighted, hotel was spotlessly clean, staff helpful and friendly a really family feel. Guests in the hotel all friendly too, it was perfect for our 7 night get away and wish we would of booked for longer. No car needed close to supermarket restaurants and beach. Hotel is not expensive so you feel comfortable to sunbathe round the pool and buy food and drink as it’s not a rip off. We stayed in the newly built section in a superior room (402) and it was tastefully decorated and had everything we needed, beds so comfy 2 rooms with kitchen area, not that we used it so many lovely restaurants nearby. Totally recommend this hotel, pretty, clean and tastefully decorated with wonderful people, it’s a must.

We are just back from our third holiday at Ourania Apartments and already planning the fourth.

Everything from the warm welcome on arrival through to departure is amazing. We always stay in the superior apartments but that's through choice and they are brilliant and modern with everything you need and superb walk in showers

The staff, from Kostas, Stella and Tasos, the night bar team and cleaners are brilliant and always have a smile and time for everyone. The pool area is spotless and there is always room by the pool which never feels crowded. The snack bar food is very tasty and great value along with drinks.

The surrounding area has lots of great bars and restaurants with the Island being our personal favourite along with a great warm welcome from the Anfield Bar but there have a lot more great bars open since our last visit. Please visit Central and Maria Yannis also.

The area might suit a group of 18-30 holiday makers but that's what make it special for us.

This place is a real gem on an island of beautiful locations and resorts, we feel so privileged to have found it.

These apartments are fairly tired looking and vary in size and position. We were given one with few steps as one of our party uses a wheelchair but it felt cramped and the sitting area had no view and a weedy bit of garden. But we were moved and much happier with our second apartment. You pay extra for the safe, and the air conditioning depends on who you booked through, or it’s also extra. The manager, however, spoke good English and was very helpful in many ways. The pool area was also a good size with grass and plenty of sun beds.
A pity no welcome pack, no washing up things, nothing. And the shop and restaurants were a good 10 minute walk away. The bar restaurant on site was 9-4 and light meals and snacks only. The resort has just a few restaurants and shops, very little else. Buses stop 5 minutes away though. Easy to get to Heraklion and the airport. But planes overhead often noisy.

Really enjoyed our stay at Ourania and can see why they have repeat returnees.
The staff are very friendly, the whole place is kept very clean and tidy and has a very relaxed feel.

We stayed in the older traditional style one bed apartments which were simply furnished but had all you need, they were very clean and the towels were changed every other day. Would recommend paying for air con (€6 per day)

The pool area and bar are very relaxing and the bar snacks and drinks are very reasonably priced
We had breakfast and can thoroughly recommend it, lots of choice, really nice full English breakfast , greek yoghurt with honey, waffles etc to choose from.

Very well positioned, only 10 mins walk to shops, restaurants and beaches and it's a pleasant walk along the seafront.

You can get the bus to Malia, Agios Niklioas, Heraklion etc, approx 10 mins walk (fairly busy road to cross, bus stop is no. 13)

We would definitely return 😊

We visited Ourania apartments in June. Our family of 5 (3 daughters, early teens) had one 2 bed apartment and my dad had a 1 bed. Both were in the older part of the complex but they have great character, were spacious and spotlessly clean. Bins were emptied and towels changed very regularly.
We loved everything about our stay. The gorgeous gardens, beautiful, well kept pool area, delicious breakfast every morning as we went b&b, great cocktails, reasonable priced snacks and lunches, friendly staff, friendly cats!
There's a great selection of food, ice creams, drinks etc and very good prices available at the bar and it's open from 9am to 1am, I never even made a cup of coffee or snack in the apartment, I just went to the bar, which made for a really relaxing holiday!
There's a great selection of books to borrow in their library section and kids liked the selection of chocolate in the vending machine.
Kostas the owner was very helpful when ever we needed something and we were able to arrange tickets and transport to Waterpark through him.
There is a fab shower area in the new section which is perfect for check out day or like us, when there was 5 of us trying to use one shower in the evening getting ready to go for dinner!
Also there is a wash room with a couple of washing machines which we availed off half way through our holiday.
There are lots of restaurants in walking distance and we ate somewhere different every night for the 2 weeks.
I liked Gouves as its only 20mins transfer from the airport, not too big but still with plenty of places to eat and shop.
As another reviewer said, I don't usually go back to the same place twice but I would return here in a heartbeat!

My husband and I have just returned from a fab week staying here. The only bad part of our trip was that the Tui coach dropped us in the evening at the top of the road and we had to walk down to the hotel. We felt this would have been ok if the coach driver had been helpful, like giving us a tip on where to go! (Thankfully we saw a sign that directed us 100m down the road.) On arrival Maria on reception was ever so helpful., as she was all week. We were directed to our apartment and although basic, it was spotlessly clean and had all the stuff needed for a self catering holiday. Towels changed every other day, and bed linen twice during our weeks stay. Very clean! There was a €6 charge per day for aircon, and another charge (minimal) for hotel tax. The only other charge we felt a little unfair was €2 per night for the safe. (Key operated so no cost to the hotel so why charge!) Meals and drinks were good value onsite and the area had a nice spot to eat if you didn’t want to venture down to the many local tavernas. Staff in onsite restaurant were also very helpful and spoke good English. The local tavernas were all very good and within easy walking distance. The apartments are about 15 mins (slow) walk from the beach where more tavernas and local shops, souvenirs, bakery and supermarkets can be found. Local bus stops nearby too. We saw people trying to put their towels down early in the morning by the adequately sized and clean pool area, but the hotel staff quickly put up signs warning them not to do it again. Grounds are very pretty with lots of grass areas and large geraniums and olive trees for shade. We had a fab week and will definitely return for another cheeky week next year.

It isn’t really that much of a hike from where the bus drops you off. At the most it’s a 7 to 10 minute walk, but seems further in the dark. The road is well paved, more or less level, and the hotel has lights at the front entrance. It may seem intimidating if you arrive at night, but very few cars travel down the road from the bus stop to the hotel.
