We arrived near midnight and was told we could not get a drink or any food so we just opted for water (payable) after a 12 hour day travelling. Rooms are small but clean and functional. Maids are amazing: Apart from the night we arrived we have found staff to be lovely and helpful. BUT and BIG BIG BUT - the food is diabolical. No cappuccino or white coffee this morning in the machine but no one had checked to refil. Cheese is mainly curled up on the edges, food is recycled at breakfast as is the bread! Most food is swimming in oil. There’s no toaster and just bread or Melba toast. For continentals this might be ok but for English - hot dog sausages?!? Lunch and main meals, only 1 potato choice per day, 1 veg per day, same meat every day - barely anything for kids if you have any - puddings are non existent. Well, might as well be - a tiny piece of cake or watermelon. The only fruit available is melon or grapes. There is basically no vareity of choice. Same salad bar every day. That’s the food. All inclusive drinks / 3 local spirits and wine or beer which was very disappointing. Not even water. All in all zero out of 10 for the food 7 out of 10 for rooms 8 out of 10 for staff as most but not all were lovely friendly and helpful.

Such a lovely, welcoming place. The staff really couldn’t do enough to help you. They were very friendly and adored the children. It’s a smaller hotel which was perfect for our family to relax and unwind. Not too far from the beach and bus stops to get to other places easily. We stayed for 2 weeks and will definitely go back again

Dirty beds, bad room services and cockroaches were buzzing in our ears 24/7. The food was terrible and the bare minimum was served. They didn’t serve Greek style food whatsoever. There was one restaurant with no AC. We had to buy toiletries, drinking water, slippers and we had to pay for AC. Make sure you take/ buy a lot of mosquitoes repellent. The only good thing about the hotel was the garden ( if it wasn’t noisy with cockroaches) and Clair, the receptionist, who was very helpful and friendly. We were in there in August 2022. It was our first time to Greece and we were looking forward to celebrate our child’s birthday there, but turned out to be a worst hotel experience, unfortunately.

DESPO is rated 3 star and without sounding a little snobbish we usually go 4 or 5 only because we have young children and go all inclusive, but this time our budget was slim and we only had a week.Anyway.. the welcome was ok apart from the room Tax and air conditioning which cost 8€ a night. The rooms were very "3 star",basic but clean and tidy. Two in a room was ok but three was crammed.Pool is very clean and tidy and the gardens are immaculate.kudos to the gardener.Food was very good and the restaurant staff were very nice. There is no Entertainment in the evening what so ever so take your own.The bar has limited drinks on the all inclusive ,I think maybe 5 different ones are available.Free bar ends at 10.30 which is a little early. Its a 20 min treck to the beach on foot but they have a bus that takes you down at 10am and returns for lunch. The nearest beach is probably the best for a good 5 mile which is nice. There are a couple of bars, restaurants and a supermarket 10 mins walk from the hotel.Overall the Hotel is pretty good and if they had a little entertainment, maybe a band or artist a few times a week I'd give it a 4 star rating. If you have little ones and you have early nights this hotel is perfect.

Pillows are flat as a pancake, bed hurts your back it’s so hard, food is completely shocking, atmosphere is horrendous and the staff are rude and moody. Manager never even smiled or greeted not once. Never been anywhere so awful in all my life room is so basic, all inclusive drinks there’s a small list to choose from about 4 things. Staff are moody and rude. Food is basic as it comes and dry as sand. Frozen chicken nuggets and chips for dinner. Can’t stress how awful it was ate out most the time and spent most of our evenings at various other bars and areas. You don’t feel welcomed no one really speaks. If you’re looking to ruin your holiday before you’ve even got there Despo hotel is the hotel for you but if you’re looking for a nice relaxing holiday pick anywhere else but here. If I could vote -5 I would only have a star cause I had to.

Just had a thoroughly enjoyable two weeks at the Despo. From the moment we arrived until the final minutes all the staff smiled, were eager to help, and spoke English (useful because we speak no Greek!). The room was bright, airy and had everything we needed with the exception of coffee making facilities (coffee available at most times in restaurant and bar). Meals always had a good selection of dishes, grounds beautifully maintained, plenty of sunbeds as well as a raised sun deck and comfortable shady places. Nothing is perfect and the location requires crossing a very busy road to get to the beach side of town, and there are a few planes passing overhead each day. Neither detracted from a relaxing break in pleasant surroundings. Would definately stay again.

Upon arrival, we were accommodated in the basement of the hotel. The room was small and not very cozy. The food selection was monotonous throughout the stay. The hotel pool was perfect, as the beach is 600m away, so you don't want to walk all the time. The hotel bar was excellent, acceptable drinks and as a bonus ice cream. For the undemanding, an excellent hotel with a walk to the beach.

This is a good hotel, between average and very good. We stayed in August, the hotel itself is fine but to get to Gouves you have to cross a very busy main road. The food was better than expected, my diet is mostly veggie, at breakfast I had beans, hard boiled eggs, cheese slices. There was always fruit and plenty of Greek yogurt plus salad and feta. Chips were always served at lunch, plenty of beige food for kids. The salad and feta was wonderful. If there had been pitta bread it would have been perfect! Dinner was decent, there were nice rice dishes a couple of nights. I tried the non vegetarian moussaka and it was lovely. There were pasta dishes but they always had ham in. Could have made them veggie friendly to keep everyone happy. The meat was always pork but my partner tried some faggot/burger things and liked them. We only ate out one evening. My favourite dinners were the spinach type risotto and moussaka. There was a orzo dish with very lean stewed beef which I liked. There was also a baked egg cheese potato pie which was very nice. The drinks are limited but even the higher end hotels are like that! If we could have had rum instead of Brandy we would have been very happy but Ouzo, lemonade and blackcurrant was nice. If you want a break and aren't fussed about venturing out the hotel it's perfect. There's a kid safe pool, kids seemed happy with ice creams from 3 to 6pm. Not sure what other snacks are available. As we only had ice cream because we always ate a good lunch. The staff were all friendly, we didn't need air con as the room had patio door with an additional shutter which kept the sun out. Room was clean. Housekeeping staff were friendly, we had a funny moment when we had to be shown how to lock the patio doors and the member of staff made us laugh. We probably wouldn't stay again because of the location but the hotel itself is fine, there were enough sun loungers for everyone.
