The hotel is average 3 stars, isn't 4 stars worth. The territory is beautiful, there is enough space for everyone and by the pool. Breakfast is monotonous, dishes are often oversalted. Dinner is very poor, the choice is small. Plates were dirty. This is not 4 stars. They didn’t even pay attention that the guest had a birthday while staying at the hotel. Not worth the money! I put negative score to take average score down. Hara Ilios isn't so good as it is written.

We arrived at the hotel on Friday 8th July and were allocated a brand new apartment, Initially beautiful but the toilet and seperate shower room had a frosted glass door and you could see our shadows whilst in the toilet you could hear each other doing our business which is not very nice so when we used the toilet one would sit on the balcony out of coutesy. Unfortunately I contracted COVID on the Sunday afer we arrived which wasnt an ideal start to our stay The staff were very sympathetic and our beakfast was brought up to our room by the very friendly staff, Obviously I couldnt use the pool or come into contact with other guests, No complaints there but I went to use the TV to pass the time away but I had trouble working it so I asked reception to help with the TV only to be told that being as it was a brand new apartment and we were the first to occupy it the TVs were not connected up to the antenna or satellite which I thought was terrible seeing as I was restricted to where I could go, So, Hotel excellent location (only 15 minutes from the airport), Excellent staff especially Billy and Dylan at the bar, very friendly and an excellent attitude. Breakfast was OK , had a good choice of food. I never used the restaurant for an evening meal as the price was 12.50 per head but although the choice was very good, My lady and I could not eat 12,50s worth of food so I thought 25 euros was a bit over the top but good for people with a large appetite. On the whole its a 3 out of 5 for us

Just back from a fantastic week at the Hara Ilios Hotel. We would highly recommend this hotel and would happily stay there again. We wanted a chilled and relaxed hotel and that is exactly what we got. The staff were all excellent and provided great customer service with a smile. The food was also very good and tasty with plenty of variety. I particularly enjoyed my massage and facial. Gionna, the spa manager helped me decide on the best treatment according to my needs and Giota the therapist provided an amazing deep tissue full body massage and a vitamin c facial. They we so good and helped to make my holiday even better! Thank you to you all.

I stayed there for 5 days: 3 to work and 2 for holiday. The room had everything I needed: a big desk and the staff were kind enough to arrange for a multi-plug for me, which I needed. The whole hotel was very clean - no complaints. Best bit of the experience was the service from the wonderful staff. Great location. Very quiet vibe, relaxed.

My wife and I visited here for an escape from dreary UK. What a lovely hotel, we have nothing remotely bad to say at all. It was spotlessly clean, covid-safe with extremely polite, helpful and pleasant staff without exception. The room was serviced as and when we wanted it ( due to the covid rules) to a high standard. The breakfast buffet was very good as was the dinner buffet ( only 12 euros per person) Pool area was very clean with plenty of loungers and chairs. Gardens were pretty and well-maintained. A short 2 or 3 minutes walk from the sea front with all its restaurants, shops, excursion offices etc. A 10 to 15 minute walk takes you to the small, main "strip" with more bars, restaurants. An ideal base to explore this part of Crete, the bus stop (13) to Heraklion/Malia is a 10 minute walk away. You can stay in bigger, flashier hotels but if you want a quieter, friendlier place, this is it. Really sad to be leaving. Just a footnote, if you are lucky, you will see a lovely, calico cat wondering aroundaround the hotel. There are lots of cats in Crete but this was the sweetest, friendliest cat we have ever encountered in all our holidays. We named her Helios and at the moment, she is just a kitten. If it had been possible, we would have taken her back with us.

They say never go back, but Hara Ilios proves that saying to be wrong. This was our second visit and we had a wonderful time there. The hotel itself is spotlessly clean and the gardens are beautifully landscaped, it’s a pleasure to walk through them. We stayed on a half board basis (buffet service at both meals) and the food was delicious, plentiful, with a lot of choice at each meal. The best thing about Hara Ilios though is the staff. This is a family run establishment and the family vibe emanates from everyone who works there; they’re all so helpful and friendly. Special mentions and thanks to Anna, on reception, who was particularly helpful and efficient, and George, the head waiter in the restaurant, who did his job so well. We also include in our thanks Dillon and Pantelis in the restaurant, and Vassilis in the bar. We will definitely be returning - we’re looking forward to our next visit already!

We stayed in this hotel for a week at the end of August. The location is perfect, near to the road, near to the beach, near to the supermarket. The nearest beach wasn’t really for us, relatively full and with small stones. So we walked about 15 minutes each time to get to one with sand near to Marilena Hotel. The village is white-blue of course, and very well mantained. But the flowers and the garden, wow…amazing! Full of hibiscus, palm trees, and my new favourite flower, plumeria. All of them were full bloom, just as if I was on a tropical island. We only had breakfast here, compared to my other stays in Greece it was pretty good. Different line-up every time. They really care about this COVID situation: we had to wear mask, disinfect our hands and wear disposable gloves when picking food. There were two things that I didn’t really like: one is that the mattress were way too soft, and that they didn’t propely clean the air conditioner so it was stinky. The area around the pool is really nice, but I have to say that previous comments are right: friends of the owner, inlcuding noisy kids are coming on some days, which can be annoying since this hotel is supposed to be adult-friendly (no kids allowed.) If it would be possible, I would give a rating between 4 and 5. But I will give the 5, thank you for showing me plumeria in real for the first time 😊

We felt at home whilst holidaying for a week at the Hara Ilios hotel. It is well kept small hotel little walk from the beach but with plenty of eateries and supermarket nearby. Small niggle, wish there was bit more choice on the breakfast but they do provide cooked breakfast, cereals, fruit etc. Staff are very friendly and helpful. It is a family run hotel, and the staff take precautions during Covid-19. I would come back and stay at this place and recommend to my family.
