The Blue Aegean Hotel & Suites seems to offer a welcoming atmosphere with its friendly staff and family-oriented environment, although there has been an isolated report of tension. While the rooms are generally clean and spacious, some guests have expressed concerns about them being outdated and small. The amenities, including food variety and beach access, are popular, but there are calls for better maintenance and improved Wi-Fi. Its location is well-regarded for beach proximity and ease of access to local attractions. Cleanliness levels are mostly satisfactory, but the hotel faces occasional criticism regarding daily housekeeping. The service is typically seen as warm and helpful, yet there have been instances of less-than-professional interactions. When it comes to value, opinions are divided with some guests feeling the costs outweigh the benefits, especially considering the additional charges and limited inclusivity of services.

We've never returned to the same hotel twice as there's always somewhere new to try, but we'd happily return to the Blue Aegean!

This is a self catering review during COVID, so can't be compared with previous years due to the changes that Dimos and team had to make at short notice. We booked directly through the hotel and, once we became aware that the all inclusive arrangements weren't in place, the hotel were great at putting in place everything we needed prior to our arrival; communications were great and very reassuring. They arranged a private transfer from the airport and negotiated discounts with local tavernas for us. If you want to stay here I would definitely recommend booking direct. It's located in a great spot just a couple of minutes to the beach and a few minutes walk to the bars and tavernas in the area.

We stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment; room 17, right beside the pool. A great spot and a really good sized apartment with a separate sleeping area for our little girl. Air con worked fine and kept the room cool and all the other usual amenities were up to standard. The one and only thing I think needs improvement is the showering facilities. Our room had quite low water pressure and needed better drainage; possibly a shower screen rather than a curtain would give a better feel, but it wasn't a dealbreaker.

The pool was a great size for the size of the hotel and a good depth at 1.55m at the deepest point. It was nice and cooling but it never felt too chilly to get in, even first thing in the morning! The bar served a good range of drinks at very reasonable prices. The snack bar served a selection of baguettes, burgers, pizzas, nuggets and salads and again, were very reasonably priced. The portion sizes were very typically Cretan (huge!) so you were well taken care of in the food department.

The hotel was kept clean throughout our stay; the cleaners were always busy cleaning rooms or public areas and the maintenance team were always out doing something to keep the hotel grounds looking nice.

You can book excursions directly from the hotel and they will happily provide you with any information about your stay. Gouves is a great base for getting around the Heraklion area and I would definitely recommend the Blue Aegean for your stay! Our little girl couldn't stop crying on our last day as she didn't want to come home. It felt such a welcoming place; Dimos and Stefanos did a great job at making us feel at home from the minute we arrived to the moment we left. Given the COVID situation, we could have felt uneasy, but we felt completely relaxed the whole time - that's down to the team at this hotel. We hope to come back soon! Thanks for the hospitality! Lee, Nat and Lola

This is a short review as we did not end up staying at this hotel. When we arrived we discovered that our travel agency Travel Up had failed to tell us that Blue Aegean had decided to close because of so many cancellations. They informed the agents who failed to speak to us. HOWEVER, I cannot speak highly enough of Alex who was on the property when we arrived. He put us in a room, brought us two glasses of wine to calm us and found us another hotel with self catering that was up to the equally high standard I could see at Blue Aegean. From my first impressions this hotel is in a very good location and the room we were temporarily placed in was up to a very good standard with equipment and furniture. What can I say... thank you Alex and hopefully next year we will have the pleasure of spending our holiday with you. Vicky & Sue

Booked to stay here in August after our original holiday to Gouves was cancelled due to corona virus in May.

We booked direct with the hotel and this came with free taxi transfer from the airport.

On arriving at the hotel we were given a very warm welcome from the staff and shown to our room (No. 21) that overlooked the pool. The room had 2 bedrooms with one being a double and the other having 2 single beds and a balcony overlooking the pool area. It had a small kitchen area that was not used apart from the kettle and fridge as there are many great bars and restaurants in the area.

The pool area and grounds were spotless with plenty of sunbeds available, there is also a bar serving drinks and food that was very nice.

We had an amazing couple of weeks and loved the hotel.

I would highly recommend this hotel and also Gouves as it is a great resort

My own personal view of this hotel/accommodation. Did like location close to couple supermarkets and few restaurants practically next door to the sea, to get to gouves main part about 15 to 20 mins slow walk, tho

prefered where we were for drink ect
our room was ok bathroom definitely needed an update mold in tiles, i honestly dont think the shower was cleaned in the 2 weeks we were there although sink and loo was cleaned on occasions, but very good at supplying clean towels no soap either in dispenser and wasnt replaced.
The room itself was ok not loads of room but was fine, small wardrobe (2 female older friends on hol together) definitely struggled with size of wardrobe, we also left lots of stuff in suitcases as no where to put stuff, there were a couple of drawers. But no where to put suitcase on so had to leave on the floor, so difficult to look for stuff, shame because was room to either fit drawers or shelf or two. The beds were changed a fair few times so pleased with that beds quite comfy.
Air con was good and needed as was hot at night that was included in room though you have to
pay for the safe as you do at most places.
We went all inclusive food was just ok cant really say more than that, breakfast fried eggs not cooked to order put in sort of heated dish but never hot, beans some odd not nice bacon, boiled mushrooms cold boiled eggs, cold scrambled eggs again already cooked so never hot, frankfurter type sausage. Was also plain yogurt you could add prunes nuts raisins ect to and they would have tinned peaches or other tinned fruit, also fresh sliced oranges maybe kiwi or sliced necterines. Also available was normal cheeses ham tomatoes ect toast, pastries, cereal could find something from selection for breakfast, they did on occasions do omelettes to order but it was away from where the cooked items were, so most people had breakfast on their plate before they knew omelettes were available. They also did pancakes again just put on plate so always cold, plenty of honey jam ect to go with them.

Lunch and dinner were really the same always just above cold, very repetitive on saying that some of the things we ate were ok just not so enjoyable because they were just lukewarm, chips always cold. Some nice little creamy desserts available both for lunch and dinner.
Drinks lager local spirits all ok, wine was vile if you wanted a drinkanble glass was 4 euros i dont mind odd gin and tonic but i prefer wine so had to pay for nearly all my drinks.

Blue Aegean is very well located, close to the beach, restaurants, car rental, store and supermarket.
We booked directly on the website the package "flight+transfer+stay". We chose an apartment with two bedrooms, terrace, bathroom and kitchenette, perfect for breakfast and convenient for some cooking.
The hotel provides excellent snacks (greek salad, pizzas, burgers...) at very affordable prices.
The pool is perfect! The staff is very friendly and professional. We enjoyed our stay very much ! We definitely recommend Blue Aegean !

The hotel itself is reasonably with a great pool and friendly staff. However I should have gone self-catering as would have had a better choice of hot food, also two day's in a row had shell in the fried egg for breakfast. The apple and orange juice in the morning was tasteless due to being water down to much so only had this on our first morning. I tried the orange soft drink from the bar, again only tried this once as this was also watered down and tasteless, I ended up buying soft drinks from a local shop. The room itself is a little out dated and could do with a little bit of TLC, the bed was very comfortable.
Beding is changed every three day and towels every two day's, room cleaning should be done everyday except on a Sunday but ours wasn't cleaned on the Saturday either.
Overall this should be a three start hotel not a four star.

Hello Mr Colin Thank you for taking the time to write a review about our hotel. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed some aspects of your stay including our staff's friendliness, room comfort and great pool area. I am sorry to hear about your experiences, it's a shame because other guests didn't seem to have any issues during their holiday at the hotel; they didn't spend their time looking for minor details, but actually enjoyed their well-deserved holiday. A friendly advise from us is to fill your phone camera with happy memories with your loved ones, instead of chosing to spend your time taking zoomed-in pictures of the kitchennete in your room (which no one uses these days as we have a rich buffet with fresh ingredients served three times a day) We hope in the future you can switch off and actually enjoy your summer holidays with some peace and quiet. Best wishes Dimos Blue Aegean Hotel Management

Hi, we have booked all-inclusive holidays in this hotel and we would not recommend it. The hotel is not located perfectly and is very hard to find. Reception and management are rude and arrogant, feels they do not want to work at all and have an indifferent attitude. Food is very salty, oily, and monotone. Rooms are average and not updated, old furniture must go. Wi-Fi is not working properly, and air condition takes long or doesn't work. Cockroaches and other bugs you may seem occasionally in the room, coming from nowhere.

The gym is old and dirty.. Not a pleasure to work out. I would give not even 4 stars, maybe a 2 or 3 max.
No beach is connected, and you have to pay 10 euro per day! The laundry is expensive, every request is a problem, you feel like you cannot ask for anything, and yet we are the customers, and we give the money!

The breakfast is not wonderful as per info.
The attitude of the ownership and thus also of the stuff which is reflecting is disrespectful and unwelcome. The hotel smells of posh attitude for no reason and there is a tendency towards money and fashion, but really the hotel stars should be taken away, and some reflection is needed. 4 stars place are so very nice anywhere else.

The animation that the hotel offers is 'demonic', and only transmits adult context, naked woman and pool or balls, how this is even appropriate for children? The hotel states it is good for children and families, yet children are left alone if the animation room is open or go to the small, boring playground. No one is really proactive if children room is open. Everything smells of adultery, money, fashion, cars... This place is not recommended for children and families. Absolutely not. Stay away if you want to give a good education to children. There are many good resorts nearby that are actually 4 stars and excellent for families and babies!

Can't have alcohol in the morning on vacation? Maybe the only good thing about this hotel are drinks that are not bad and the bar staff, everything else is not. Every day is the same, and staying there two weeks on family vacation will make you feel bored and angry. Make this place adult only, if that is the style, because the two things, 'family and children' and 'adult entertainment and drinks' do not go along.. Thanks and good luck.

Dear OnAir12219758063 Thank you for the anonymous review. I am absolutely, shocked at what I'm reading here, words such as 'Demonic and adultery' are not words that have been used to describe us, clearly there was some misconception from your part. I honestly don't understand what you are claiming, that we had naked shows at our hotel? I don't think so. Our staff and food have been praised by all our guests over 20 years of business, and families have been coming year after year to enjoy their summer holidays and that's what they do. I'm sorry that our all inclusive service doesn't accomodate your morning drinking routine, alcohol at our hotel is served after 11:00 in the morning. Our staff go over and beyond people's expectations for the service and friendliness. Wishing you all the best in your future vacation endeavors, and thank you for taking the time to share your colorful experience with us! Regards Dimos

Really excellent place, food is fantastic went all inclusive for a week and there wasn't a meal when my picky youngest didn't have something to keep him fed! Staff are super helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them. Very handy for shops/bars/restaurants etc. Rooms are a little dated but they were spotless, cleaned everyday with fresh towels not 100% when the beds were changed but one thing is plenty of pillows!! Would deffo go back here!!

We had a lovely 2 weeks at The Blue Aegean apartments. In these uncertain times we were made to feel welcome by Dimos, Stef and Alex and the other staff. The apartments were lovely and clean as was the whole complex.

The apartments are really well situated, just 30 seconds away from the beach, where you can hire 2 sun beds and a brolly for 7€. There are also some lovely restaurants in the are - we really enjoyed Milos (away from the seafront) and 2 Friends, but there are lots to chose from.

Gouves isn’t maybe the most picturesque part of Crete but we loved the area around our apartments and also enjoyed a few days out to Agios Nikolaos, Elounda, Spinalonga, Heraklion and Knossos. We didn’t much like a couple of Hours spent in Hersonnisos - the bars etc looked a lot less authentic.

We travelled as two families of 3, with a 15yo and 16yo - they loved the pool, sea and eating!

My friend and I stayed here in June 2022.
Our first visits to Crete and we will Definitely be retuning !

Our flight was delayed and we arrived early hours of Sunday morning the staff were there to meet us they took us to our room and then back to the bar where they had laid on a cold platter and drinks for us.

We stayed in the annex. The rooms were plentiful and clean and had everything needed including a kettle, fridge, safe and hairdryer.

The food was buffet style and there was always plenty of choice and the staff were very attentive bringing drinks at lunch and evening meal.

There was entertainment a couple of
Nights but there were plenty of places around if you wanted to venture out.

The location was great, close to the beach and supermarket and Gouves is a beautiful area,
we went for walks and found some lovely shopping areas and bars.

The main highlight for us was the staff at the blue Aegean! They were all so friendly and helpful and made us feel so welcome ! Nothing was ever too much! We even ended up changing our flights to stay a couple of extra days and the hotel accommodated us with no issues at all! Micheal, Yorgos and Stefano who worked tireless at the bar were amazing stefano eventually knew our drinks and would just get them ready for us !

What more can I say but ‘thank you’ to all the staff at the blue Aegean and to the reservation manager who accommodated our extended stay! We look forward to seeing you all again soon. !

On a final note the trip to spinalonga with jet2 as amazing and value for money would definitely recommend !!
