The rooms were nice, the food was great! Breakfast and dinner were part of our room package. We did a couple's massage at the hotel's spa. The massage was very good; they gave us a complimentary steam bath after our session. Pools were clean; there is a lap pool which is nice. Also close access to the beach. The only reason we rated 4 stars instead of 5 was because the bar and patio area was right below our room. Each night the hotel provided a DJ for the guests to dance and party. However, it was very loud for those of us that planned to go to sleep before midnight.

My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our stay at the Astir Beach Hotel, in spite of the exceptionally bad weather. An icy cold Meltem was blowing hard so we couldn't use the pool but we compensated by doing lots of excursions and had two lovely massages at the hôtel's spa. Yannis and his family were very professional and cured our respective back problems. We were a little disappointed about the jacuzzi which wasn't working properly and the sauna was also out of use but the hammam was great and we really appreciated the free Aloe Vera facial massage on our wind-burnt skin! The food at Astir Beach was brilliant. There was something for everyone and plenty of vegetarian food for those who, like me, don't eat dead animals. I recommend the vegetarian moussaka ! The dining room was very lively and a bit too noisy for our liking but if the weather had been better we could have sat outside by the pool. A special mention for our waitress, Violeta who catered for our every need. What a lovely, smiley lady! Drinks were unlimited and there was plenty of choice. The bar staff were really friendly and efficient (and very patient with some of the rowdier guests). There was some very memorable entertainment in the bar: karaoke nights, a celebrity puzzle game, a traditional Greek dancing demonstration and an amazing magic show. Honestly, the only downside to our holiday was the weather but the rest largely compensated and I would have no hesitations about recommending the Astir Beach Hotel.

As a hotel it deserves max a 3 stars and below are Positive & Negative: Positive: clean, organized, helpful stuff (receptionist, housekeeper, waiters, bar men) very nice and cute alexandria animation team (Mikaela, Gabi, Market) which helping kids and adults to enjoy thru painting, cocktail pool games, dancing at mini Disco, Darts, and top of travel animation team (Yassine, carla, cloe, diogo) which providing the guest a high level of enjoyment and feeling as they are all 1 family thru playing beach volley, aqua zumba, aqua gym, some dancing lessons. And for sure we shouldn't forget the leader Mike who's organising the daily night show and many other things. Negative: many varieties of food but its average in taste, its a beach resort but you need to pay 6€ for umbrella and 2 beach seats, and for pool seats its limited and you need to wake up from 6 am to book 1. Also you need to pay 1€ for the towel and 9€ as a security for the towel, drinks are very low in quality, orange juice is a powder juice not fresh and they are including it in the alcoholic cocktails as well, and you need to pay extra if you want the normal cocktails like pinacolada, kamikaz, shweppes, .... Moreover, they are providing 1 key per room only, we were buying 1 bottle of water daily by 2 € because its not complimentary, food timing is weird but its acceptable but there is no kids meals. Btw bring all ur clothes ironed bcoz no iron 8n the room

I do not recommend the hotel, the rooms were cleaned at least 3 times a week, the breakfasts are terrible. A lot of people in the hotel are dissatisfied with the service. The Astir Beach Hotel deserves maximum ** stars, and even with your eyes closed...

I stayed here for a week of rest, relaxation and swimming. The Hotel is lovely, and the staff were very helpful especially as i arrived a day late due to cancelled flight. My room was pretty big, 2 single beds, table & chair, big bath/shower room (mini toiletries included). I had a side room with balcony which looked out at the hills and trees, and to the left you could see the see… and Aphrodite Beach in the distance (my favourite spot during my stay). I watched the sunrise from my balcony. I stayed half board, the food was great and loads of choice, definitely something for everyone. All the staff at breakfast and dinner were lovely and really friendly. The hotel had 4 pools, big one, medium and 2 small that people could take little children in. Step outside the gate and you are on the beach, it was safe to swim in the one right outside as its protected , not sure about the beach to the left as the sea seemed a bit choppy there. The sunset from the jetty was perfect, i watched it every night and got some amazing pictures. I would recommend staying here.

The first impression wasn’t too good - receptionist wasn’t very welcoming, room was small and with 90ties style curtains. Good things - bathroom was good, water pressure also, outdoors of hotel - four swimming pools and seating places was great. Swimming pool bar didn’t work, indoors were bar and food area (breakfast, lunch and dinner). Services are not too many, all info one have to find himself. About catering: personell is nice, dinner food was good, breakfast - weak, not tasty and variety was poor. Good thing was that when we rented the car, parking was free in parking of the hotel. Place for hotel is good - right on the beach, close to restaurants and bars and small shops. Closest city is Hersonissos, some 10-15 min drive.

The hotel has been recently renovated and is very clean and pleasant. Our room was very nice, with a balcony and a very modern bathroom. The food in the restaurant is plentiful and varied, though it would have been nice if more traditional Greek dishes were offered. The coffee is another story - atrocious, to say the least. If we wanted a decent coffee we had to wait till 10 AM for the bar to open. The staff is nice and helpful, everybody speaks decent English and are quite professional. We particularly liked the location of the hotel - just across the beach. The beach itself is with fine sand, very clean and pleasant, though the sea was rather rough (it seems this is the general case on the northern shore of Crete due to the wind). Overall, I would say this is a good hotel for a quiet family vacation. However, it is fairly close to Heraklion, so you're not stuck in one place.
