We are here in isolation in the Magda Gouves Hotel in Crete....but this hotel and staff, as well as the Jet2 Representative....have been so wonderful. As it is the hotel is probably one of the best of our 45 years of holidaying....but they have truly looked after us, once I found I had Covid19.The Waiting staff....The Reception staff (particularly 'Nicos)...have been so sympathetic and truly a great example of the Cretan/Greek people. We have rebooked this hotel again for next year.....it is the least We can do to show our true gratitude... Thank You...wonderful staff at the Magda Gouves.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

The hotel in itself is lovely, very clean, 4 pools and plenty of sun beds. The food is of a good standard however is very repetitive and you can’t really put a full meal together - just lots of individual dishes. Pizza and waffles on the afternoon are a great touch. We ate here 4 out of the 7 afternoons and had dinner here on our last night. The room was clean but basic (air con is free which is great!) however we had an older room. The newer rooms which are advertised on Jet2 look 100% better and more modern and they have their own pool with comfier sun beds - our room was right in the walkway of everyone so it was difficult to relax on your balcony and the sun was constantly on us. The team here are lovely especially Elefteria and Natassa on the bar and make great all inclusive cocktails (always smiley and happy!) and the entertainment team are friendly. BUT this hotel is heavily catered to the French nationalities and everything is based around them (it was French only until two years ago). The main language is French, the night entertainment is all in French and the day activities are all based around French pastimes - it makes it quite difficult to get involved (we tried darts and mini golf and sat in the bar on two evenings). We were told one morning that the activity was going to be archery which we really wanted to try but then it was changed to french boules - they do take over. On our last day, the check out was 11am but we weren’t due to leave until 10pm that evening, we were told we couldn’t keep our room and had to use a shower room - a french couple got to keep their room until around 6pm (we offered to pay for an extra room as did another english group but were denied). We tried to get some sleep on the sofa in the reception as there was nowhere else for us to lay down and were stared at by the reception team. The hotel is not very close to a lot of things, within 10 minutes there are four or five restaurants (turn right when you see the beach) and a handful of shops but the real action is around a 30 minutes walk away (worth the walk, we did 15k steps most days!). Definitely recommend Sirocco and Island Restaurant, the sunset views are incredible!! We spent between £35-£60 on evening meals (one starter, two mains, 2/4 drinks) dependent on where you go. Wembley Bar is very reasonable for drinks (8 drinks including 4 cocktails and 4 beers was £44). Taxi to Hersonissos (must go!) is £20 each way and to Malia is £35 each way - ask the hotel to call you a taxi, Miss Nicki is wonderful. All in all, I’m so glad we came to see Crete and it is beautiful but I wouldn’t come back to this hotel again - unless you know French very well, you won’t understand a word of what they’re all saying and you won’t get a chance to enjoy it.

Just got back from a week with the girls staying at the Magda Hotel. This is the first hotel we have stayed in where the restaurant staff stayed to greet us with a meal at nearly midnight. The rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean and have good air con. The restaurant caters for everyone, food is delicious and there is plenty of selections of drink. Nino in the restaurant is fab! The entertainment team work hard with various programmes on day and night. The best was Greek night ( Thursday evening) Very entertaining and great atmosphere. I recommend visiting Tonia at the wellness centre - had a massage and facial, it was wonderful. There is plenty of sunbeds around the pools (there is 4) we spent alot of time on the beach, we used the blue sunbeds, they were €7 for 2 sunbeds and parasol a day. There is also a beach café right in front of the Astir hotel which is lovely and will let you use there toilets. We would definitely return to the Magda Hotel.

We spent a relaxing fortnight here, although in the older part of hotel the rooms were spacious, with high ceilings and excellent air conditioning. Linen and towels were changed every 2nd day. Our balcony overlooked a road which was quiet, odd tour bus picking up and dropping off. We were able to enjoy music and laughter from a nearby bar🙂 in an evening after hotel bar closed but once our balcony door was closed we didn't hear anything The restaurant was very efficiently run by Nino, well done to him and fellow staff there. Ladies who ran the bar were super and quickly knew what our drinks were, a big thanks to Nikos who kept the tables clear of empty glasses very efficiently, a great worker! Entertainment staff worked really hard, and as a team 😊 we really enjoyed the Divas show very much and quizzes etc were entertaining, big shout out to the lovely German girls Avra and Sandra 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 who always took time to speak with us Scottish folk! You're both very much thought of by us, Avra hope your knee problem improves soon for you, and all the best in your future careers, remember to stay in touch with each other, I'm sure you'll be friends for life. My boyfriend and I have just returned from an amazing week at this lovely all inclusive hotel. Upon arrival at 22:30 we were greeted by the friendly Basilis at reception, who informed us that they had specially prepared a dinner buffet service for us despite it being so late. Once checked in he took us to our room which was in the new build area (highly recommend) which we were very pleased with. The two person shower was spacious and clean, and the rest of the room was ideal with a little terrace to spend the evenings. The service was quick and we managed to make it down to the bar in time for some all inclusive cocktails each. Cocktails were available all day, a special mention to Eleftheria who’s service was on point and provided the most friendly interaction with guests. There was also wine and the best lager on tap, free to pour yourself all day. The whole hotel was exceptionally clean, no dirty glasses/plates left around the bar area, the cleaning staff were efficient and very friendly. The 4 outdoor pools were also lovely, but we mainly used the adult only (1.4m) pool right outside our terrace. There were lots of available comfy sunbeds around the pools. The food was varied at all mealtimes, and there were delicious snacks in between at the bar area. Nino in particular caught our eye for his excellent service and personality. All staff were polite and friendly but the highlight of the stay was definitely the entertainment team - a special mention to Avra who made our trip even more enjoyable - we highly recommend you pass on hello’s from Rosie and Tom. Although the majority of the guests are French, the team spoke French, Greek, English and German fluently and worked hard to entertain all the guests, putting on new shows each evening, which were great. After 11:30 the atmosphere subsides so we would definitely recommend visiting the ‘Meet Meat’ bar across the road owned by the friendly Yotze! The staff greet you each day in a friendly manner. Strong Wi-Fi through out the entire hotel. It's less than a 3min slow walk from the beach. We would definitely return to this hotel in the future - we’re already upset it is fully booked for the rest of the year. Couldn’t recommend this hotel enough !!!

Have just returned from a fantastic week at Magda What can i say, everything was amazing from start to finish. Food was great and lots of choice. Lots of comfy sunloungers, staff were amazing. We were in the older rooms which were small but spotlessly clean, cleaners came in every day. The only negative thing i can say we would have liked to return in July but its fully booked ☹️

What can I say had the most amazing time with my husband and 2 adult children. From the moment we arrived the whole staffing team just fantastic. One of the most cleanest hotels we have stayed in. We stayed in the new part of the hotel with the roof pool on our level just stunning. Nino the young 22 year old running the restaurant was amazing running it with precision. We never ate out once as the food was so good. Cocktails available all day and the wine was great in the all inclusive. The animation team worked hard all day and offered a wide range of activities to suit all. A big shout out to Avra and Sandra. The beach is literally down the road with miles of flat roads to walk and shops. Would definitely recommend Selena and family

We have just returned from a week at this lovely hotel. On arrival the receptionist Informed us that lunch service was about to close so go eat and check in when we had finished. When checked in she took us to our room which we were very pleased with. The room was clean, spacious and nicely decorated. The whole hotel was exceptionally clean no dirty classes left around the bar area, the cleaning staff were efficient and very friendly. The 4 outdoor pools were also lovely if a little chilly. Lots of sunbeds around the pools but the sunebeds around the rooftop pool and pool area beyond the bar were the most comfort sunbeds I have ever laid on, wooden frame and very thick pads. The food was varied at all mealtimes, lovely salad bar , pasta and pizza choice and at least 3 meat options at lunch and dinner. A delicious dessert bar and 5 ice cream flavours plus fresh fruit. All staff were polite and friendly and the entertainment team were great. Although the majority of the guests are French, the team spoke French, Greek, English and German and worked hard to entertain all the guests, they even put on a show one evening which was great. I would definitely return to this hotel in the future
