We were in Tuscany for a week and stayed at Casa Fontana for three nights. Given the level of personalized service and the wonderful property owners, Ron and Susi, we wished we had stayed longer. One of our reasons for choosing Casa Fontana was to stay in the location where ancestors who emigrated to USA were born. When we chatted...

Just returned from a first, week-long, visit to Casa Fontana, Barga, Tuscany. Set in a stunning location, the Casa is run by the wonderfully welcoming Ron and Susi, a Scottish couple who went to all sorts of trouble helping us plan walks, day trips, meals and shopping ventures. How they keep so cheerful and friendly when they work so hard...

We're lucky enough to have had a few holidays this year. Some have been new destinations but Casa Fontana is where we return to time and again. Why is that? First of all, Italy. We think the food, scenery, language and people are just perfect. The weather this time wasn't the kindest but couldn't spoil a wonderful break. Secondly, Barga....

It is always a pleasure to have you and Virginia with us at Casa Fontana. We hope that all our guests feel that they are staying in our home, rather than an anonymous hotel. Thanks for your continued support and friendship. We look forward to your next visit. Ron and Susi

We were here 4 years ago and loved it and returned for a friend's 60th birthday. The house is beautifully restored slightly up hill in a quiet part of the old town about 5 min walk from the bus stop if your coming from Lucca/Pisa. The bedrooms are all different, some have balconies, some stunning views across to the mountains,...

Thanks for your review. We were delighted that you were able to return this year and enjoyed the walking, despite some wet weather. We look forward to your next visit. Ron and Susi

Barga was our final destination on a tour of Austria and Italy. I was a bit ambivalent about staying there rather than in the more well-known town of Lucca, because it added another 45 minutes of driving on a winding road up into the hills. However, my instincts told me that it would be worth it. And so glad I...

Just loved Barga and Ron and Suzi. They share with their guests all the places they obviously love, the best restaurants, best music, best walks. We'd like to think we'd be nice enough to share this magical little town too but I don't know... This is our sixth trip to Italy and this place simply charmed our sox off.

It started with email conversations to plan our stay. Ron was extremely helpful in suggesting the best route to arrive at Casa Fontana, and such personalized service, not only in that regard, but also in highlighting the attractions in Barga and surrounding countryside go some way to substantiating all the glowing reviews about this property. I don't need to repeat...

We stayed here for two nights. Ron and Susi own the B&B and they were wonderful hosts. They did all of the work so we could relax. The beds were comfortable, the rooms had great views the rooms were clean. The location is perfect. They have a great garden with views of the mountains and sunset. The town itself is...

We spent four glorious days walking the local trails suggested by Ron, who carefully assessed our abilities, and returned to Susi's gorgeous garden each afternoon to read or chill or ponder over the big decision for the day: where to eat dinner each evening. We were impressed by the quality and variety the restaurants in Barga's old town offered. Our...

Just home from a wonderful week in Barga on a Scots traditional music workshop. Made extra special by Susi and Ron's welcome and hospitality at Casa Fontana. This is a house of great character with an excellent location among the winding steps and passages of the old town and within a short stagger of the great restaurants and cafes. My...
