That night was magic. Sleeping by the foot of Mt Cook was pretty awesome, plus the quick access to the walks. The facilities served us well and there were showers in a short drive distance. We will definitely come back and spend more days next time.

Awesome views of Mount Cook, access to many walks in the area and close to the village. It’s a basic campsite with a dining room and toilets but if you’re self contained it’s perfect for the view. It did get very wet and windy when we stayed and there isn’t much shelter at all so would recommend checking the weather prior especially if you’re in a tent. Cheap way to spend the night under a very magical clear starry sky.

Very basic, but it is what it is. This is a campsite for tents and Campervans. There are toilets but no showers and arriving at 4pm we found it difficult to find a pitch. The guardian was very pleasant when we met him. The walk up the Hooker Valley trek was beautiful, if a little busy, and the lake at the top was worth the walk. Very cold overnight at the end of February.

Camper vans and lightweight tents side by side by the foot of Mt. Cook. Spacious shelter and toilet facilities. Lights turned off at 8PM. A beautiful, quiet spot, despite the huge number of mountain-lovers. Perfect access point to several hikes. Don't miss the short walk to Tasman Lake Glacier from nearby Tasman Lake Glacier car park.

With a snowcapped mountain towering above you and a view of Lake Pukaki in the distance, this is one of the most beautiful locations for a campsite that I have stayed at. The Hooker Valley track basically starts directly from the campsite. It gets very busy during this period so make sure you arrive early.
