We arrived here at the end of a long day driving and, as we just wanted somewhere clean to spend the night, we checked online and booked it shortly before arriving. Accordingly, having checked the reviews, we weren't expecting the Hilton, so weren't disappointed when we found that it had a definite retro feel due to its years. Having said...

Spent two nights in Thames as we had a Coromandel weekend. This is such a great little place with everything you need. Rooms were warm, loads of space, free WiFi & the bed was comfy. I actually loved the retro look! Cheap & cheerful. Definitely stay again when we're in the Coromandel. Plus it was an easy 90 min commute...

We stayed at Avalon Motel for a couple of nights in October. It was family getaway for the weekend. Our room looked just as was shown at the picture. I agree with other comments that property would benefit from some facelift. It looked a bit tired. But fridge, kettle, heater, TV were working well and we had very strong WiFi...

The motel is dated and in need of refurbishment. Bed has seen firmer days. Noisy as close to main road especially from about 4am. Was clean and well equipped. Microwave and two hot plates were efficient. Free Wifi was good

I was stopping the night in Thames before heading up to Hahei. I lived in the queen studio, found it quite spacious, and well maintained. Queen sized bed provided with a couch, all relatively clean. Unlimited wi-fi provided which was quite quick. It was quite quiet throughout the night, however the sound of traffic became a little louder in the...

PLEASE AVOID THIS MOTEL. This motel is the worst motel we have ever been to. They charged you immediately. Room is disappointingly old and very . Studio 10: THERE IS NOBBATHING SOAP. NO SHAMPOO. NO HAIR CONDITIONER. NO ELECTRIC BLANKET . BEDSHEETS ON SINGLE BED IS NOT FRESH, IT WAS REUSED AGAIN AFTER NOT SURE HOW MANY GUEST HAVE USED...

It is adequately furnished, well maintained and of good size. We have a two-room unit with a well stocked kitchen - though the table top hot plates are just too slow. Otherwise, things are working fine and we had a reasonably comfortable stay there.

This is a tidy motel with spacious well furnished and decorated rooms on a large property just as you enter Thames. Its relatively quiet and we had a really comfortable stay and will return there next time. The thing that stood out was the service from the owners who are lovely people. We had a problem while there which once...

We'd booked 6 rooms and stayed here with 19 people. Rooms are clean and spacious. Kitches are equiped with everything you need. Free, fast internet and a big size flat screen in each room. Owners are very nice and easy going. They put a BBQ for us to use in the court yard and with a couple of pick-nic tables...

This was our first stop in New Zealand and we had many treks in the area planned. Was a great location for jumping off for hikes and adventures. The nights were cool enough but we did use the fan provided. Kitchenette was well equipped for us to make quick dinners. I would say that the price was pretty reasonable given...
